Ted Mallie(1924-1999)
- Sound Department
Ted Mallie was a major figure in UPN's history, despite his career being on WWOR (and WOR, as WWOR was known before 1987) before UPN. He was the voice of WOR-TV, and a major popular name among the likes of Ernie Anderson. With his memorable happy-sounding voice, his kindness and warmth was a major part of WOR and WWOR. UPN's friendly warmth (and among the people of their affiliates) can be attributed to WWOR (WOR before WWOR as well) as well. His memorable V/O credits include many of WOR-TV's editorials, many promos he did for WOR-TV and WWOR as it was known as after 1987, as well as "Bugs and Daffy" (a hit show that ran on WNEW, WNYW and then WWOR for the rest of its run, where it got more popular), and "9 Broadcast Plaza" before it became "The Richard Bey Show" in 1992.
