Apple in a breathless announcement devoid of things like meaningful data said that the film was “the most viewed movie in Apple TV+ history.” It was later supplanted by the George Clooney and Brad Pitt action-comedy “Wolfs,” which the service, with a similar lack of statistical evidence, recently enthused had taken the “most viewed movie in Apple TV+ history” crown.

The Morgan Family is back in action as a sequel is in the works to “The Family Plan,” with Mark Wahlberg set to produce and reprise his role as Dan Morgan, and Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby all returning to star, Apple Original Films announced on Wednesday.

A sequel to Apple Original Films’ 2023 action comedy The Family Plan, starring Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan and more, is in the works, the studio announced on Wednesday.

Wahlberg is set to produce and reprise alongside Monaghan, Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby, with writer David Coggeshall and director Simon Cellan Jones also returning.

Exclusive: The Black List has named the six projects chosen for the 2024 Writers Lab. Now in its 11th year, the project provides creative mentorship and professional support to up-and-coming feature writers as they further develop their works during a weeklong workshop in Ojai, Calif.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the original Shinobi game featured Joe Musashi as a modern-day ninja who confronts great evil. Ken Kobayashi (Sunny) is writing the script for the Shinobi movie, which will be produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel through Marc Platt Production. Dmitri M. Johnson will produce through Story Kitchen, with Toru Nakahara producing through Sega. Mike Goldberg will executive produce alongside co-producer Timothy I. Stevenson.

Apple Original Films has snagged the mighty film package that hails from Skydance and Mattel Films. Sam Hargrave, the director behind the gritty Extraction movies, is on board to helm the feature.

The project is coming in full throttle with a screenplay by David Coggeshall, who wrote action comedy The Family Plan for the streaming and tech giant, and Jonathan Tropper, the author and scribe who wrote the Ryan Reynolds action-adventure feature The Adam Project.

Matchbox is the toy brand first created in 1953 and acquired by Mattel in 1997. Mattel competed with Matchbox in the die-cast car space with its own line, Hot Wheels. According to lore, automotive enthusiast Jack Odell designed the first car for his daughter, who was allowed to take a toy to school only if it was small enough to fit in a matchbox.

The Deliverance is one of the most anticipated horror films of 2024. Directed by Lee Daniels from a screenplay co-written by David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum, the Netflix mystery horror film is inspired by a true story known as the Ammons haunting case. The real story on which the film is based took place in Gary, Indiana in 2011 and it revolved around Latoya Ammons, her mother, Rosa Campbell, and her three children.

The real has been changed to make the film good and not boring but there are many scenes in the film that are based on Ammons’ claims, one of which is the one where a child crawls backward up a hospital wall.

Netflix's The Deliverance is struggling to satisfy its critics. Inspired by a real-world haunting in Gary, Indiana, the movie follows Andra Day as Ebony Jackson as she works to keep her family together while facing the horror of demonic possession. The Deliverance boasts a stellar cast, which includes Day, Oscar-nominee Glenn Close, fellow nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin. Unfortunately, it has not enjoyed much love from its viewers.

The Deliverance has seen nothing but disappointment on Rotten Tomatoes. It sits at a 34% score on the Tomatometer and a 53% score on the audience-led Popcornmeter. Both scores have earned it Rotten designations, as the majority of viewers were displeased by the story. Reviewers cite a painfully slow pace, a clichd narrative, and the melodramatic characters as explanations for their poor reviews.

Lee Daniels' new Netflix movie "The Deliverance" is trying to be two things at once. For most of its runtime, it's a down-to-earth family drama with an unapologetically prickly protagonist. Then, the film descends into the hoariest of cliches as it turns into a heavily religious possession horror pic, complete with potty-mouthed demons and children contorting their bodies in unnatural ways. Neither of these approaches are particularly successful together, although the family drama stuff works much, much better than the horror movie trappings. Billing itself as being based on true events (sure), "The Deliverance" is at its best when its focusing on its flawed main character. That would be single mother Ebony Jackson, played with real grit by Andra Day, who starred in Daniels' "The United States vs. Billie Holiday."
