The Abbott Elementary crossover with It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia was chaotic in the best way possible, but there are other outlandish crossover combinations that could be magic. Abbott Elementary’s creator Quinta Brunson and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia showrunner Rob McElhenney worked together to make the impossible come true: the FX sitcom “Gang” meeting the Abbott teachers. There were a million reasons why it shouldn’t have worked, but the crossover was a hit.
Aside from hidden It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia references in the Abbott Elementary episode, the crossover had the unlikely pair change each other for the better. While McElhenney’s Mac helped Ava (Janelle James) blackmail the golf course, Charlie Day's Charlie Kelly learned how to read at Abbott Elementary. At the same time, the crossover protected the unique identities of both titles. Despite how unconventional a crossover may be, it could be a...

Criminal Minds is renowned as one of the greatest entries in the crime procedural genre, but arguably the best part of each episode was Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) and her sharp dialogue. The FBI technical analyst was the quintessential quirky character that added an air of levity and charm to even the most gruesome investigations. Even as the Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) encountered the most disturbing unsubs in Criminal Minds, Garcia was always prepared with a clever play on words or affectionate monikers for her coworkers.
Vangsness portrayed the character throughout all 15 seasons of Criminal Minds, with Penelope only absent from a single episode in the pilot season— even then she was still mentioned, a testament to how vital her presence in the series was from the start. In 2020, fans experienced the heartbreaking news that one of their top series, Criminal Minds, had been canceled after fifteen seasons. When the show received a reboot two years later, not all of the cast returned.
Criminal Minds: Evolution brought back some of our favorite profilers, only one of whom had been with the show since the beginning and a few who replaced original team members who had left before the show ended.
One of the most significant losses in the show’s history was that of boy-wonder Dr. Reid Spencer, played by Matthew Gray Gubler.
(Cliff Lipson/CBS)
During the fifteen-year original run of Criminal Minds, Reid played the nerdy academic with an eidetic memory and a brilliance for profiling criminals.
Fans adored the awkward genius that was Dr. Spencer Reid, whether it was his close relationship with J.J. (A.J. Cook) and her sons, his bromance with former Bau...

Deadline reports that Matthew Gray Gubler is returning to television, but unfortunately, it’s not the long-awaited return to Criminal Minds: Evolution that fans have wanted. Instead, Gubler is set to play the great-grandson of Albert Einstein in a new crime procedural for CBS, which is going by the working title of Einstein.
The series is from Andy Breckman and Randy Zisk, best known for Monk. It will be a drama with comedic undertones. Matthew Gray Gubler plays Lew Einstein, the brilliant but directionless great-grandson of the famed theoretical physicist. He’s a popular professor at Princeton, when he actually shows up, but the burden of his genius and famous name frequently weigh on him. When his bad-boy antics find him running afoul of the law, he’s forced to help a local detective solve her most puzzling cases, which finally gives his life some direction and purpose. You know what they say: Opposites attract. We’ll have to see if such is the case with Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) and a new character joining Criminal Minds: Evolution for its upcoming 18th season (the third of the revival). Aimee Garcia will appear in multiple episodes, Deadline reports. The Lucifer star will be playing Dr. Julia Ochoa. She is one of the country’s leading neuropsychiatrists and is helping a high-profile patient as he recovers from an injury-induced brain trauma. She comes at the situation in a gentle way, which will clash with Luke’s more aggressive one. With Garcia in multiple episodes, we can’t help but wonder if sparks could fly between Luke and Julia and if that might mean some jealousy from Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness); their day may not have gone well but it doesn’t seem like the door is completely shut on a potential relationship.

Exclusive: Aimee Garcia has joined Criminal Minds: Evolution for the Paramount+ series’ third season.
In a multiple-episode arc, Garcia will portray Dr. Julia Ochoa, one of the country’s leading neuropsychiatrists who is assigned to help a high-profile patient recover from his injury-induced brain trauma. She clashes with Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) who, by contrast, believes in a more aggressive approach than her gentle approach.
Criminal Minds: Evolution is an expansion of the original CBS series which ran from 2005-2020. In the current season, the FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers comes up against an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers. As the world opens back up and the network goes operational, the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time.
The series stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Zach Gilford, Ryan-James Hatanaka with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster.

Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 may be over, but we’re already looking forward to what happens next. Even though it’s still early, we do know the show will be back for season 3. Plus, the season 2 finale already set up a possible arc that will continue to involve Elias Voit (Zach Gilford).
In the season 2 finale, Voit had started his prison sentence, where he for some reason had requested to be put into the general population. In the final scene, he was attacked while doing laundry. Almost immediately, based on his previous behavior and how diabolical he could be, there were suspicions that he planned this himself. There is no doubt Voit is prepared to do whatever it takes to get out of prison as soon as possible.
Here's what we know about the upcoming season!

Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 has already entered production, promising new twists and turns for the Bau team. Paramount+ can release season 3 in early 2025, following the pattern of a new season each year. Fans may finally see the return of Spencer Reid in season 3, as long as Matthew Gray Gubler's schedule aligns with Criminal Minds: Evolution's production.
Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 is now in production not long after the season 2 finale was released on Paramount+. Despite the initial challenges of bringing the FBI's Behavioral Analysis (Bau) team back to the small screen after ending their 15-year stint on CBS, the show proves to be worth all the hassle for the streamer. Even before Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 ended, Paramount+ already ordered the series' third season proof of how big of a success the revival is on the platform.

Criminal Minds: Evolution showrunner Erica Messer confirmed Reid's sabbatical as a safe explanation for his absence. Gubler and Henney may return as long as schedules align with the show. Reid's sabbatical update leaves the door open for his potential return in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3.
Criminal Minds: Evolution showrunner Erica Messer explains the season 2 comment about Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) and his sabbatical. New episodes have followed David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) and other members of the Behavioral Analysis Unit amid increasing criminal activity, but Gublers character remains noticeably absent. Reid, whose brainpower and unique personality made him a fan favorite, appeared in 15 seasons of the original series as a fellow Supervisory Special Agent. However, in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, episode 7, Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) revealed that he's temporarily away from the FBI.
During an interview with TV Insider, Messer explained why Reids nonappearance was described as a sabbatical.

Derek Morgan's absence in Criminal Minds: Evolution is felt, but his friendship with Penelope remains strong, as shown in the season 2 finale. The mention of Derek's nickname "Chocolate Thunder" in the finale hints at his continued importance to Penelope, setting the stage for his potential return. Penelope could be the key to Derek's emotional return to Criminal Minds: Evolution, as their strong friendship was showcased in past seasons.
Criminal Minds: Evolution may be missing one of my favorite characters, but the season 2 finale just confirmed an important detail about Derek and Penelopes friendship. Note: This story contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of “Criminal Minds: Evolution.”
Whether you consider it Season 2 or Season 17, “Criminal Minds: Evolution” ended with quite the explosion in Thursday’s finale. While fans were concerned for Paget Brewster’s Prentiss going into Episode 10, it was Zach Gilford’s serial killer Voit (aka Sicarius) who ultimately met his end — or did he?
Since the sequel series has already been renewed for Season 3 at Paramount+, showrunner Erica Messer broke down the twist-filled finale with TheWrap and gave a concrete answer about that violent cliffhanger.
“It was a journey to get here, because in some ways it really started at last season’s finale when Doug Bailey (Nicholas D’Agosto) was killed by Elias Voit, seemingly because Voit used this code word ‘Gold Star,’ which got Bailey to walk in all alone, unarmed, into the lion’s den,” she explained. “The journey to...

Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 (also known as Criminal Minds season 17) has taken fans on a wild journey as TV’s favorite profilers try to figure out and eradicate the threat of “Gold Star.”

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 17 finale “Save the Children.”] Criminal Minds: Evolution ends its 17th season with a question mark about a villain’s future, but thanks to a chat with showrunner Erica Messer, we do have some answers about that. In the finale, Prentiss (Paget Brewster) is abducted (again), but Gold Stars Jade (Liana Liberto) and Pete (Alex Saxon); the latter is Doug Bailey’s (Nicholas D’Agosto) brother, and he thinks the Bau killed him. But once they can prove it was Voit (Zach Gilford), he surrenders. In the end, the team celebrates at Garcia’s (Kirsten Vangsness). Meanwhile, in prison, Voit is attacked. Below, Messer breaks down that finale and teases what’s to come in Season 18. Voit wanted to be part of gen pop, and it seems like he could have set that whole thing up at the end to orchestrate something, ...

Criminal Minds: Evolution's love triangle between Tyler, Garcia, and Alvez is unnecessary and distracts from the main storyline. The show's office romance execution is problematic and doesn't add anything to the overall plot, especially as Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 deals with darker themes. The unresolved love triangle needs resolution before everyone, including Tyler, returns for Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3.
With Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 entering its final stretch, I am so ready for the show to end Tyler Green, Penelope Garcia, & Luke Alvez's complicated relationship. As a loyal follower of the Criminal Minds franchise even when it was still on network TV, I know that romances aren't exactly its strong suit. The show never really fully delved into this particular storyline, even as its fellow police procedural dabbled into the same arc, with Law & Order: Svu doing its back-and-forth with Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler, as well as...

Garcia's relationship with Alvez in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 is based on mutual respect, which is slightly different to her flirtatious dynamic with Morgan. Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 is developing a side storyline with Tyler Green complicating Garcia and Alvez's situation. Showrunner Erica Messer confirms that any missing original character can return, including Morgan, but their reason must be personal, not professional.
There are certain differences between Penelope Garcia's relationship with Luke Alvez to Derek Morgan, and Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 star, Kirsten Vangsness breaks it down. Criminal Minds is known for its incredible ensemble and horrific unsubs, but it isn't used to tackling romances. Granted that the franchise has had a few dalliances over the years, the procedural's storytelling just isn't focused on them. That is gradually changing after it introduces a possible relationship between Garcia and Alvez. Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 has stagnated that narrative, with...

Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) and Luke Alvez’s (Adam Rodriguez) date may not have worked out, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Criminal Minds: Evolution is done with the possibility of a romance there. In fact, serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) remarked on the “vibe” between them and commented about Garcia and Tyler Green (Ryan-James Hatanaka) and her having a thing that drove Luke crazy in the latest episode. “We hang out together a lot” in Season 17, Vangsness told TV Insider ahead of the premiere of Garcia and Alvez. “I keep saying the writers write things and we do what they say, and then they go like, ‘People talk about it. Let’s just have them have a date. And then can it be done?’ And we’re like, ‘Sure, it can be done.’ And then we do things and then you guys ask questions like that,” she laughed.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, episodes 1 & 2!
Will's absence in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 must be addressed in future seasons, says showrunner Erica Messer. Season 3 will likely be the point where the show starts explaining Will's abrupt departure. Despite not getting mentioned as often nor appearing again, his relationship with JJ would make it disappointing for something untoward to happen to him.
Criminal Minds: Evolution showrunner Erica Messer has addressed a key character exit in season 2, explaining how the show is going to have to tackle the departure later on. The upcoming season has everyone at the Bau on high alert, having to rely on serial killer Elias Voit to help them catch another murderer going by the name Gold Star. However, Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 also saw the exit of Josh Stewart, who's played JJ's husband Will in a recurring capacity since season 2 of the original show.

The team faces its biggest...
