Jordan Maron’s mobile gaming company Xreal can now get funding directly from fans. The YouTube star, better known as CaptainSparklez, has partnered with StartEngine, a Kickstarter-like investing platform, to help raise capital for his mobile gaming brand.
Founded by entrepreneur Ron Miller and Activision co-founder Howard Marks, StartEngine is a crowdfunding platform which facilitates investments between individuals and private companies. Prior to June 19, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) didn’t allow private companies to accept equity crowdfunding. This meant startups and entrepreneurs without connections to high net worth investors and firms often struggled to raise capital, no matter how viable and potentially lucrative their business ideas were.
Now that the SEC has implemented a new set of rules called Regulation A+, equity crowdfunding is possible for small businesses and startups. StartEngine’s platform is at the center of this new fundraising opportunity, helping businesses get the money they need to operate.

We head back to the 80s and 90s to look at eight famous battles between directors and studio executives over a movie's final cut...
If filmmaking is a compromise between art and commerce, then the final cut is often the point in the process where the tug-of-war between the two becomes the most intense. In their desire to make a film more profitable - often after feedback from preview screenings - studio executives will sometimes request re-edits or the shooting of additional scenes. And occasionally, when directors attempt to resist those changes for whatever reason, the resulting tension between director and studio can reach breaking point.
To illustrate the different ways these tussles over a film's final cut can play out, we're heading back to the 80s and 90s. In some instances, the films that emerged from the editing room were considered to be influential triumphs.

Optimus Prime proves that he is still a bad-ass!
Sam Witwicky (Shia Labeouf) is having a had time after college. Sure, he might have saved the world a few times, and he may have a ridiculously hot girlfriend, but that doesn’t help him gain any sort of meaningful employment. It seems that without the Decepticons roaming around, he doesn’t feel like he has a purpose. Little does he know, the Decepticons are back, with something huge up their sleeve.
See, when the U.S. landed on the moon, there was a lot that they hid… such as the giant spacecraft that was busted down on the dark side of the moon! Since we decided to hide that little fact, the Decepticons have had plenty of time to plan their next move. They want to bring Cybertron down to Earth. The Autobots, along with Sam, are unprepared, but ready...
