Began her modeling career after being spotted by a modeling scout in a Denver studio, Kathy claimed to have landed a Cosmopolitan cover on her first day in New York, and a TV commercial with Joe Namath on her second day.

Married Denver physician Dr. Fred Speirs at the age of 17. Within eight years or less, the couple had divorced.

A five-time Cosmopolitan cover girl, model and regular in print and TV commercials, Speirs' nevertheless harbored the dream of becoming an actress.

Worked as a model for Wilhelmina Models, the talent management agency formed by Dutch supermodel Wilhelmina Cooper.

Speirs' father was a property developer who owned multiple shopping centers and medical buildings.
