He died after accidentally falling from the 9th floor balcony of the condominium he was living in for 4 years. According to Oyo Boy Sotto, his cousin and close friend who was with him during the accident at 4:50 am, Miko was about to stand up from the plant box of the balcony (where they usually used to hang out) when he lost his balanced and accidentally fell.

Was always known to be the "protector" of all his loved ones, especially his family.

Son of singer/actress/radio commentator Ali Sotto and Maru Sotto. Nephew of comedian Vic Sotto and actor-politician (a senator as off this writing) Tito Sotto. Cousin of Danica Sotto, Oyo Boy Sotto and Ciara Sotto.

Miko and cousin Oyo Boy Sotto long hoped to become "rap recording artists." A month before Miko's death, they recorded a demo tape, awaiting a deserved record deal. On Miko's passing, Oyo Boy vowed to continue what they started and become a rapper.

His mother, Ali Sotto, donated Miko's corneas to the Eye Bank of the Philippines at the time of his death. 2 weeks thereafter, his corneas were transplated to 2 females: 20-year Miko's organ donation opened the awareness of people to help give new life to people in need.

Last appeared as TV guest in _"SiS"_ (2001)) on December 19, 2003 It was an emotional episode with his mom Ali Sotto.
