Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), Jaime Ray Newman (Dopesick), Katie Lowes (Scandal), and George Ferrier (One of Us Is Lying) have been cast as series regulars in Starz’s upcoming drama series The Hunting Wives, alongside previously announced Malin Åkerman, Brittany Snow, Dermot Mulroney, and Evan Jonigkeit. Production is underway in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Written by Rebecca Cutter based on May Cobb’s novel of the same name, The Hunting Wives tells the story of Sophie O’Neil (Snow) and her family’s move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Bank’s (Åkerman) irresistible charms – and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction and murder.
Metz plays Starr. Abby’s mother, a proud working-class woman and staunch Christian. Although she’s active at church and her daughter dates the star point guard Brad, she is not welcomed in the high-society world of the Hunting Wives.

Goalpost Pictures partners Rosemary Blight, Ben Grant and Kylie du Fresne are busily progressing projects in development with local and international partners and are confident the cinema business will rebound after the pandemic.
Here are their joint responses:
Q: While it was disappointing to have Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man’s cinema run curtailed while it was earning hefty sums here and in the Us and the UK, the early release on digital platforms at least meant it is reaching a sizable number of eyeballs?
A: Absolutely! Universal were very quick to respond to the worldwide pandemic scenario and, while obviously we would all have wanted cinemas to remain open and it was thrilling to see Leigh’s movie sitting so high in the box office charts, we are heartened to know that the film is widely available to everyone in isolation.

Tuesday see’s the Berlin Film Festival play host to the sixth edition of its Co-Pro Series Pitch and Networking event, where 10 exciting TV projects from around the world will pitch to potential co-producers, investors, sales agents and broadcasters.
Under the umbrella of the Berlinale Co-Production Market – dedicated to connecting feature film producers and creators with international partners – the CoPro Series sessions have a similar aim but for TV projects.
Previous series to participate include Belgium’s “Tabula Rasa,” Norway and Belgium’s “State of Happiness” and Germany’s “Babylon Berlin.” Currently, Denmark’s “Cry Wolf” and Germany’s “Hausen” are in production, both having pitched at previous editions of CoPro Series.
This year’s selection demonstrates an impressive breadth of narrative themes, with many refusing to adhere to any specific genre profile, instead preferring to mix elements of humor, romance, drama, thrills and even a bit of science fiction.

La-based Australian actor says Hollywood decision makers are mostly business graduates that ‘crunch numbers’ rather than make sound artistic choices
Book now for Guardian Australia’s screening of A Month of Sundays, on 27 April
In Anthony Lapaglia’s new film A Month of Sundays, the latest work from Noise and Felony director Matthew Saville, the 57-year-old actor plays a grumpy Eeyore-like housing broker who walks around in a permanent funk. His character, Frank Mollard, is dour and reserved; a man of few words.
This is in stark contrast to the person who plays him; when we speak, he is at a Bondi hotel having landed just a few hours ago on a flight from La. Lapaglia is loquacious and engaging, rattling through topics with the kind of straight-shooting, borderline brazen sincerity often associated with beer-infused pub banter (it’s mid-afternoon and we’re drinking coffee).

First-time director Grant Scicluna has mined the depths of darkness in his new feature,.Downriver.
The film was inspired by a question over a few drinks with a friend.
Scicluna was aiming for the most explosive beginning he could find.
.I went home and had drinks with a friend and we were talking about things and stories and trying to find the most dramatic explosive type of set and we inevitably stumbled upon murder, and then the murder of the child at the hands of another child seemed the most explosive place to start a story,. Scicluna said..
.I started developing it from there and it took a long time. We have been writing it for over seven or eight years, so it has changed a lot since then. That.s really where it began, that.s where ideas often do just out of a conversation and a question. .
