The network will not renew either series for a second season, though both shows will see out their current runs. Low ratings — both shows are averaging a 0.5/3 in the adults 18-49 demo — and uncertainty are behind the cancellation of the series, which were both originally intended for summer runs.

NeXt has aired three episodes of its 10-episode order, while Filthy Rich has aired five of its 10 episodes.

The network has decided to cancel both series after only a single season, Variety has learned exclusively. Sources say that rising production costs due to the Covid-19 pandemic played a significant part in the decision. Fox will air the remaining episodes of both shows, which were held back for fall due to the pandemic situation.

“Filthy Rich” and “Next” failed to draw strong enough audience responses to merit a second outing, with “Filthy Rich” averaging only 3.2 million viewers and a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 after seven days of delayed viewing, and “Next” drawing only 2.8 million viewers per episode and the same rating in delayed. News of the dual cancelation comes only five episodes into the run of “Filthy Rich,” and after only two episodes of “Next” have seen air on the network.

The Descent arguably made being stuck underground scary again, with intelligent use of the darkness and just a hint of claustrophobia half of the job of scaring the audience was done before the creatures even made an appearance on screen. Beneath may not want to be compared to Neil Marshall’s movie, but as a fan I can’t help but compare the two.

Beneath may claim it is inspired by true events, but we know that this is a statement that is used as a marketing tool to get attention but means nothing when it comes to historical fact. In the movie we see a crew of coal miners trapped 600 feet below the ground.

Whether you are a filmmaker, or one of the Sundance programmers whose task it is to identify the films that make up a line-up, it is indeed the most wonderful, panic-filled and nerve racking time of the year. The 31st edition of the Sundance Film Festival kicks off on January 22nd with Park City and Salt Lake City playing host to some of the more innovative, thought-provoking narrative and non-fiction films of 2015. Last year, a Jenga tall order of 4,057 features and 8,161 shorts were submitted. Now let’s think about those numbers for a second.

Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy has found a niche playing slovenly yet oddly likable protagonists, and she’ll be taking viewers on a ride with her wildest creation yet this July when she unveils Tammy, a road trip comedy which McCarthy co-wrote with her director and off-screen husband Ben Falcone. Now, Warner Bros. has revealed a trio of posters which find McCarthy’s character declaring her independence in a number of strange, albeit funny ways.

In the posters, Tammy guns her junky car, hangs on for dear life on a jet-ski and throws her hands in the air outside the Toppy Jack’s fast-food joint she just stuck up. The taglines for the poster are a little odd, to say the least, but the images themselves are somewhat entertaining to look at. However, we’ll have to wait until the film hits theaters to see whether “Coming in hot!,” “Look out fish!

Mark L. Young (We’re The Millers) has landed a recurring role on HBO‘s The Comeback. The six-episode followup to the cult 2005 comedy starring Lisa Kudrow is set to return this fall. The original show starred Kudrow as washed-up sitcom actress Valerie Cherish, who gets a reality show documenting her attempt at a career comeback. In the new episodes, Valerie will continue her search to attain the spotlight. Two films we've been talking about for a long while, Witching and Bitching and Beneath, will be getting released this June courtesy of IFC Midnight. Read on for details and more.

IFC Midnight announced a June 13 VOD release for Alex de la Iglesia’s horror comedy Witching & Bitching. Witching's ensemble cast boasts some of Spain’s biggest film and TV stars, such as Mario Casas (I Want You), Hugo Silva (Sex, Parties and Lies), and Carmen Maura, who earned a Best Actress award at San Sebastian in 2000 for her role in Commonwealth. Further cast members are Terele Pavez, Carolina Bang, Secun de la Rosa, Pepon Nieto, and Jaime Ordonez.

The flick centers on a band of thieves trying to flee to France after purloining 25,000 gold rings from a Spanish city. A curse is placed on them, and they fall into the clutches of the witches of the Navarrese town of Zugarramurdi.

One of the many films making their premiere at Screamfest in Los Angeles is Beneath from director Ben Ketai and Revolver Pictures.

Oh, it would be nice to have a ticket to Los Angeles. Screamfest La continues draw in some of the most interesting horror titles, for its 2013 festival run. This time, Screamfest will utilize Ben Ketai's (30 Days of Night: Dark Days) thrilling title Beneath to launch the festival October 8th, 2013. Beneath will have its World Premiere on this date. As well, the film stars Mark L. Young (We're the Millers), Jeff Fahey (Planet Terror), Joey Kern (Cabin Fever), Brent Briscoe and Kelly Noonan; a the first teaser trailer for the film has been revealed! The clip begins normal enough, with coal miners descending below ground. But, events get tricky when the miners become trapped 600 feet down. Is there something down there with them? Beneath, directed by Ben Ketai, is poised to make its Screamfest debut in Los Angeles next month and the first batch of photos have been released.  You can find them inside.  Ketai previously helmed 30 Days of Night: Dark Days and he had a short film play to Screamfest audiences a few years back.

Production has begun on Revolver Pictures Company’s Beneath. The film comes from Ben Ketai (30 Days Of Night shorts). The full cast has been announced, and the first poster for the film has also been posted.

The film stars Lawnmower Man and Lost alum Jeff Fahey, Kelly Noonan, Joey Kern, Brent Briscoe, Rene Rivera, Mark L. Young, Kurt Caseres, David Shackelford, Ashway Lawver and Jason Masek.
