The 45th Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) will be held on March 1, 2025, to recognize the worst films of 2024. The nominees were originally set to be announced on January 16, but due to wildfires in Southern California, the announcement was delayed several times, eventually being revealed on January 21.

The nominees were chosen by 1,202 members of the Golden Raspberry Foundation, including movie fans, critics, and journalists. This year, many comic book adaptations received nominations, such as ‘The Crow,’ ‘Madame Web,’ ‘Joker: Folie à Deux,’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter.’

Several well-known actors, including Ariana DeBose, Cate Blanchett, and Joaquin Phoenix, were also mentioned, with Jon Voight getting a nod for his roles in four films. 2024 was really bad for superhero adaptations considering that the movies received eighteen nominations overall.

There are few awards shows more mean-spirited than the Razzie Awards, which each year join the awards season circus to ridicule the previous year’s most notable flops. 2024 gave the Razzies plenty of punching bags, as Joker: Folie a Deux, Megalopolis, and Madame Web were among the nominees for Worst Picture.

As this year's awards season gets underway, Hollywood prepares to celebrate the very best - and worst - that 2024 had to offer.

The Academy Award nominations were recently delayed due to the California wildfires, but we do have the nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards, and several superhero/comic book-based movies were "honored" in a number of categories.

Not too surprisingly, Warner Bros.' Joker sequel picked up the most nominations, with stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga up for Worst Actor, Todd Phillips for Worst Director, and more. Sony Pictures' Madame Web was a close second with noms in six categories, tied with Megalopolis and Reagan.

Lionsgate's ill-fated The Crow reboot picked up two.

Not coincidentally, all five are tied with six Razzie noms apiece. Those films’ helmers also are up for the Director “prize,” except for Reagan‘s Sean McNamara; Jerry Seinfeld took that fifth slot for his Pop Tarts comedy Unfrosted. The erstwhile sitcom king also is up for Worst Actor.

It’s not the biggest honor to be nominated for the “worst” in Hollywood and there are plenty of Oscar-winning stars who are up for these awards this year.

The winners will be revealed in a press release on March 1, one day before the 2025 Oscars.

Joker: Folie à Deux leads the Razzie Awards noms, which recognize the worst movies and performances of the year, with a total of seven mentions.

Borderlands, Madame Web, Megalopolis and Reagan followed with six noms apiece, it was announced Tuesday. Unfrosted landed with four noms, while The Crow nabbed two noms.

Among the actors receiving mentions were Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, Lady Gaga and Jon Voight, one of President Donald Trump’s newly appointed “Ambassadors to Hollywood,” who was nominated for his performances in a “near record” four films in one year.

Organizers joked that the worst picture nominees will compete for a “$4.97 gold spray-painted” statuette and shared their thoughts on each of the films in contention (see below).

James Gunn has said that there will be select parts of the Dceu that will be canon in his Dcu. The director took over at the tail end of the Dceu, hoping to soft reboot the universe. However, he said that John Cena, Viola Davis and a few other characters will continue to play their roles as they are, while also referencing some events from the Dceu in the new Dcu.

James Gunn was in charge of the Dcu when Shazam: Fury of the Gods came out, which saw the character share a space with Emilia Harcourt, and John Economos, one of whom has already been confirmed to be canon in the MCU. Given that both these characters were in Peacemaker Season 1, which will be canon in the Dcu, it is a possibility that Zachary Levi might have a space in the rebooted franchise.

With David Corenswet’s Superman all set to debut in the Dcu, it is high time James Gunn selects Batman for his shared universe. Despite Ben Affleck not having a solo film in the Dceu, it was confirmed that he would be stepping down from the role and a new actor would be cast for the upcoming The Brave and the Bold film Gunn announced.

While Robert Pattinson’s Batman is still a great portrayal, Matt Reeves’ insistence on keeping his Batverse grounded in reality will not be the right fit for the more cosmic adventures in the Dcu. Several candidates have popped up over the past few months, but for me, no one else comes close to Alan Ritchson to play Bruce Wayne. Here are three reasons why he is the perfect man for the job.

For James Gunn and Matt Reeves, it might be a sound of alarm as this cinematic universe requires one very clear thing: continuity. There are only two possibilities in this case, either the continuity breaks or we see yet another downfall like the MCU.

Zachary Levi was among the actors who suffered a heavy loss when WB decided to shut down and reboot the Dceu. He had essayed the role of Shazam. While his evil counterpart, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, made his way into the Dceu as well, the two barely got to face off before the franchise was completely trashed.

Levi has now come out with some criticism of the Dcu, especially when it comes to casting. James Gunn is known to cast his friends and family members in projects that he ends up being the head of, and given that he is now heading the entire Dcu and beyond, Levi believes that some of the casting might have been because of Gunn having an in with DC Studios.

Jason Momoa has been cast in a new DC Universe role, and that increases the chances that other Dceu stars could come back to the franchise in exciting new roles. Momoa led DC's highest-grossing film of all time, 2018's Aquaman. Due to that, it was always expected that the actor would play one of the Dcu's canon characters. As such, his return was not a surprise, but the fact that he ditched Aquaman to play Lobo was the interesting part of the announcement.

Dceu stars had already returned in James Gunn's DC Universe. However, John Cena as Peacemaker, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and most of the other returning stars reprised their characters. Momoa's high-profile recast as Lobo sparks more possibilities for upcoming DC movies, as Gunn's Dcu could bring back some major Dceu stars in new roles, and the director has even talked to a few actors about such an idea.

An insider at The Hollywood Reporter, who I am suuuuure can be trusted 100%, recently informed the world that actor Zachary Levi was disappointed and “bitter” that he didn’t rise to Chris Evans or The Rock level of stardom after Shazam. Nobody can be sure if these were his true feelings, but to many, the science has been settled, and this is how he feels. So the dude became a Robert F Kennedy Jr. fan, which resulted in a Trump endorsement and running away from… or rather, escaping, LA. He now spends his time on a ranch in Texas, where, apparently, he is going to focus on making faith-based films. So, did they cancel Zachary Levi, or did they set him free?

Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney are heading to theaters with their new project The Housemaid, an adaptation of Freida McFadden’s book of the same name, on Christmas.

Here’s a plot summary: “Millie (Sweeney) is a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Sklenar), an upscale, wealthy couple. She soon learns that the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.”

The Housemaid also stars the likes of Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone.

Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy will star in “The Good Daughter,” Peacock’s upcoming limited series series based on the Karin Slaughter novel of the same name. Byrne also serves as executive producer.

The official logline reads, “‘The Good Daughter’ is a suspenseful crime drama where sisters Charlotte (Meghann Fahy) and Samantha (Rose Byrne) Quinn have spent the last 28 years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte is the first witness on the scene. Disney is kickstarting development for a reimagining of the hit 2010 animated movie. Michael Gracey, the director of the musical hit The Greatest Showman and the upcoming Robbie Williams biopic Better Man, is being tapped to direct the film, with Thor: Love and Thunder screenwriter Jennifer Kaytin Robinson providing the script, according to Variety.

Casting has yet to be announced.

Based on the retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, Tangled tells the story of a long-lost princess (Mandy Moore) desperate to leave the confines of her isolated tower. But when a runaway thief (Zachary Levi) stumbles upon her, she leaves to experience a world which she has never seen.
