It’s family first in The Baxters, Prime Video’s faith-driven drama based on the bestselling books from Karen Kingsbury. The first 10 episodes follow the determined Kari (Ali Cobrin), who tries to save her marriage after learning that her professor husband Tim (Black Lightning’s Brandon Hirsch) has been cheating on her with a student. In Kari’s corner are her loving parents—Elizabeth and John (Roma Downey and Ted McGinley)—and four siblings. Of course, Kari’s compassionate mom is her first call after her life falls apart. Downey was down for the drama, but the Baxters’ relatability drew in the Touched by an Angel vet. “Here is a series about a quintessential American churchgoing family dealing with real challenges and figuring out a way to come out stronger on the other side,” Downey, also an executive producer, says. “I know audiences will see themselves in this story.” Below,...

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “Atlanta” Season 2, Episode 7, “Champagne Papi.”]
Fans of “Atlanta” have often had to accept that the city portrayed in the FX comedy is slightly askew from the one we know. On the surface, it may look and operate like our world, but surreal elements that are treated as everyday occurrences — such as the existence of an invisible car and a black Justin Bieber — have required suspension of disbelief, or in the very least a belief in an alternate reality very similar to our own.
Although seemingly more straightforward than the horrifying “Teddy Perkins,” Thursday’s episode “Champagne Papi” goes deep and questions the very nature of reality. In doing so, it also offers up an explanation for what life, and by extension “Atlanta,” might be: a simulation.

Boulevard Trailer. Dito Montiel‘s Boulevard (2014) movie trailer stars Robin Williams, Bob Odenkirk, Kathy Baker, and Giles Matthey. Boulevard‘s plot synopsis: “A devoted husband in a marriage of convenience is forced to confront his secret life.”
Boy, oh boy. It’s hard to make a trailer for this film without it feeling off. Robin Williams hanged himself and slit his wrists. That’s dark. There’s nothing inspiring or positive or hopeful about any of that. We’re told to celebrate his life, and we sure do. We love his films, and we miss his personality.
Robin Williams has always been his best in dramatic performances. I truly believe that. I know he’s a funny-man, a comedian to most, and probably best known as Ms. Doubtfire. But even in that movie, you can see the emotional intellect behind his face. He was a highly intelligent man, and impossible talented.
