The Challenge Season 40 is getting closer to the epic season’s final, as two more competitors are officially out of the cast.

Eliminations have occurred over the past few months of filming to whittle down the cast of 40 to half, and now even fewer individuals.

The season’s theme includes cast members from throughout 39 seasons of The Challenge split into four groups.

Each group represents a different era, from the older generation of OGs to the newer generation of stars in the past six years.

Based on spoilers continuously arriving online, a large alliance may have been wiping out specific individuals, but that may have started to change.

The Challenge rotates returning players and rookies for each season. Depending on the theme, viewers might not see a favorite for a few seasons. Here are five recent competitors who should return for next season.

Olivia Kaiser and Horacio Gutiérrez

The rookie standouts landed in back-to-back eliminations almost immediately after entering the competition and won both. They earned the respect of the house and avoided the Zone until episode 8 when her fling Nelson Thomas opted to save his rival Fessy Shafaat over her.

Regardless, with the help of the house, they sent home targets Jay Starrett and Michele Fitzgerald. When they split into teams, Horacio found himself in the Zone twice, and he eliminated Kenny Clark and three-time champ Jordan Wiseley, tying a franchise record for most elimination wins in a season.

Sounds like Olivia and Horacio balance out each other well! But can they stay on the same page while on The Challenge?...

The newest twist on The Challenge: Ride or Dies allows eliminated players a shot at redemption, but it will ultimately hurt this season. So far, eliminated ride or die pairs have been sent packing each week after losing an elimination round. Losing eliminations on The Challenge typically means automatically being sent home, with the chance of becoming a champion ending until the contestants return for a future season. Kaycee is well known for her previous win on The Challenge season 37, as well as her win on Big Brother season 20. With a background in football, Kaycee has a history of dominating physical competitions. Her strength combined with her social game, usually revolving around a strategy of playing honest and befriending her competitors, has made Kaycee an obvious choice to return to The Challenge season 38. The Challenge returns to MTV with Season 38, which will be Ride or Dies, and features returning stars and eager newcomers in the cast.

Several former champions will be amongst the seasoned vets, bringing plenty of experience to the game.

They include recent winners Kaycee Clark and Amber Borzotra, who each won alongside longtime cast member Chris “Ct” Tamburello.

However, Ct won’t be back this season, and the women will be partnered with new Ride or Dies teammates.

In Season 38, Kaycee teams with her brother, Kenny Clark. Amber teams up with her boyfriend, Chauncey Palmer. So, the two recent Challenge winners will have to try to win this season with inexperienced rookies by their sides.

The Challenge Season 38 will see the return of several of the show’s champions to the competition, including one of the recent Spies, Lies & Allies winners, Kaycee Clark.

The Big Brother star will be back for the season, looking to add another championship to her resume. Her partner for The Challenge Season 37 was Chris “Ct” Tamburello, who is taking at least one season off.

That means Kaycee will have a new teammate. In the newest installment of MTV’s series, Ride or with whom Dies, each cast member is paired with an individual with whom they share a special bond.

In the case of Kaycee, her teammate is her brother, Kenny Clark, as announced in the cast reveal several weeks ago.

The brother and sister duo appeared in a recent promotional video showcasing them as teammates ahead of the premiere episode.

The Challenge Season 38 trailer and cast were revealed several weeks ago, with fans seeing plenty of familiar faces participating in the newest installment of MTV’s competition series.

Among them were veteran stars, including Johnny Bananas, Aneesa Ferreira, Laurel Stucky, Veronica Portillo, Darrell Taylor, and Jordan Wiseley.

Recent seasons also featured multiple Big Brother stars, and that’s the case with Season 38. Recent champs Kaycee Clark and Amber Borzotra, multi-time finalist Fessy Shafaat, and rookies Analyse Talavera and Tommy Bracco are all in MTV’s upcoming season.

Someone fans may have noticed missing from the familiar Bb stars in the show is Josh Martinez, who has appeared in five-straight editions of The Challenge.

Everyone appearing in Season 38 will have a specific teammate with whom they share a close bond. For example, Big Brother friends Analyse and Tommy are partners for the season.

MTV’s The Challenge is back for Season 38, with the title Ride or Dies, as cast members enter the game paired up with a close friend, family member, or ally from the show.

A total of 34 competitors will participate in the season, including returning favorites such as seven-time champion Johnny Bananas, three-time champion Jordan Wiseley, and former champions Laurel Stucky and Turabi “Turbo” Camkiran.

Rookies will be part of the game, including Big Brother’s Tommy Bracco and Analyse Talavera, Love Island’s Olivia Kaiser, and Are You the One? star Nurys Mateo.

Each of these cast members partners with a specific teammate they’ll have to work with through daily challenges, eliminations, and the game’s politics to try to win their share of a million dollars in prize money.

The Challenge returns to MTV next month with a brand new format.

The hit reality series' 38th season is titled "Ride or Dies," and premieres Wednesday, October 12 at 8/7c.

The Challenge Season 38 features a mix of old and new cast members, including the return of Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio.

The duos this season team up “as they navigate the weekly mental and physical warfare together for their share of one million dollars,” the logline reads.
