Scott Belsky, Adobe’s chief strategy officer and EVP for Design & Emerging Products, is joining A24 to oversee technology and innovation at the indie studio.
He starts in March, based in New York. He will remain an advisor to Adobe, but focus his work at A24 to supporting filmmakers, providing tools and resources for their creative vision.
There were no specifics in Belsky’s post on X announcing his new gig, but he said he’ll be “kicking off a few projects” and is “eager to get to work.”
A24 has expanded significantly in size and stature since its launch in 2012 but does not currently have a executive focused on technology.

Finn Wolfhard is taking a stab at directing — and is trying not to get stabbed himself in the new trailer for the horror-comedy film Hell of a Summer.
The trailer, released by Neon on Wednesday, shows the Stranger Things star and his friends enjoying their summer at camp, filled with campfires, lake days, Ouija boards and escaping a serial killer.
The film’s synopsis reads: “Hell of a Summer follows 24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg, who arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is that he feels out of touch with his teenage co-workers. What he doesn’t know is that a masked killer is lurking on the campgrounds, brutally picking counselors off one by one.”
The feature, set to release in theaters on April 18, is written and directed by Wolfhard and Billy Bryk. The cast includes Fred Hechinger, Pardis Saremi, Abby Quinn and D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai.

A while back, Stranger Things and Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor Finn Wolfhard made his feature directorial debut with a horror comedy called Hell of a Summer, which he directed alongside Billy Bryk, who also appeared in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray had the chance to watch the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and gave it a 5/10 review than can be read at This Link. The film secured a U.S. distribution deal with Neon last summer, and the company is planning to give it a theatrical release on April 18th. With that date just a few months away, a redband trailer for Hell of a Summer has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Months before Hell of a Summer was officially announced, Wolfhard said that he was planning to make his feature directorial debut with “a horror-comedy-slasher movie that takes place at a camp.

One year after creating a fictionalized civil war inside the United States, “Civil War” filmmaker Alex Garland has his eyes on a historical conflict. Garland and co-writer and co-director Ray Mendoza, an Iraq War veteran, are behind the new film “Warfare,” a real-time war film based on “the memory of the people who lived it.”
The project, which was announced earlier this year, is set during the 2006 Iraq War and focuses on “a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory.”
In keeping with classic war films of yesteryear – including classics like “The Thin Red Line,” “Saving Private Ryan,” and “Black Hawk Down,” Garland and Mendoza have enlisted an all-star cast of internet-approved young actors, including Emmy nominees D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai and Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo,...

A24 recently released a trailer for Alex Garland’s new movie, ‘Warfare,’ which he co-directed with Ray Mendoza.
This film is a departure from the dystopian themes of Garland’s previous work, ‘Civil War,’ and instead transports viewers to the intense battlegrounds of 2006 Iraq. The film’s release is scheduled for 2025, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
Unlike his earlier project which reimagined a second American Civil War, Garland, alongside Mendoza who also served as the military supervisor on ‘Civil War,’ crafted a narrative set against the backdrop of real historical events.
‘Warfare’ offers an in-depth look at the experiences of an American Navy SEALs platoon stationed within an Iraqi family’s home, providing a strategic vantage point to oversee US movements through hostile territories.
The storytelling in ‘Warfare’ is unique as it unfolds in real-time, reflecting the personal memories of those who were there.

By the time director Alex Garland’s film Civil War (you can read our review Here) was released earlier this year, Garland was already working on another war movie called Warfare, co-directing it with Ray Mendoza, who served as the military supervisor for Civil War. Garland and Mendoza also wrote the screenplay together. While Civil War was a dystopian film that imagined a new Civil War breaking out in the United States, Warfare is set during a real war, the story taking viewers back to 2006 Iraq. A24 will be giving the film a theatrical release sometime in 2025, but even though a specific release date has not yet been announced, the first trailer for the film has been unveiled. You can watch it in the embed above.

It seems that Alex Garland has developed a taste for the big-screen battlefield. After bowling us over with his immersive war photography thriller Civil War earlier this year, the filmmaker is back with Warfare, a shootout story set in 2006 during the Iraq War, and with a stellar roll-call of young talent in front of the camera. Watch the first trailer below.
Written and directed by Garland and veteran Ray Mendoza, Warfare is, according to the trailer, an 'unfiltered' depiction of life on the front line, delivered in real time, and based on Mendoza’s memory of his actual experiences serving in Iraq. It follows a group of Navy SEALs under siege, facing bullets and serious injuries, all trying to escape as a group to find safety and back-up. As with Civil War, it’s an A24 joint, and its extensive list of stars includes D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai, Will Poulter, Shōgun’s Cosmo Jarvis,...

"Coming to you, or you coming to us?" A24 has unveiled the official trailer for a war movie called simply Warfare, the latest project (co-)directed by Alex Garland following his big action movie Civil War earlier this year. Warfare is actually co-directed by Alex Garland and the real life Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza, telling his own stories (from memory) of what it was like to be there. A member of Seal Team 5, Mendoza came to partner with Garland on Warfare after serving as his military supervisor on Civil War. The huge ensemble cast features: D'Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai, Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, Henrique Zaga, Michael Gandolfini, with Joesph Quinn and Charles Melton. This looks like Black Hawk Down and Come and See – a brutally honest depiction of how war is hell and how terrible it is. Just...

Now, A24 has released the trailer for Warfare.
The trailer shows a group of United States military members in Iraq in 2006, hiding out in a house while they look at their enemies. Alex Garland, whose most recent film “Civil War” hit theaters in April, is back with another heavy drama with his new film “Warfare,” set during the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
The intense film takes place in Iraq in 2006 and stars D’pharaoh Woon-a-Tai, Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, Henrique Zaga and Aaron Deakins.
“‘Warfare’ embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory,” the synopsis reads. “A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”
The trailer starts out of showing the soldiers in a period of quiet downtime as they scope out two targets on a rooftop with a sniper rifle.

Earlier this year, Civil War proved Alex Garland wasn’t so much interested in the politics of a divided country, rather curious about the questions of morality and the psychological toll of those entrenched in an aspect of war (specifically photojournalism). He’s now returning in 2025 with what looks to be an even more focused portrait of the horrors of war, capturing a group of soldiers in Iraq War in real-time. Co-directed with Ray Mendoza, Warfare is once again backed by A24 and now the first trailer has arrived.

A24’s membership program is adding movie ticketing as a key piece of what the indie studio has dubbed its “relaunching” of AAA24. Apparently, the chocolate bars aren’t enough.
The tickets aren’t table scraps either: AAA24 members will get one ticket to every A24 nationwide release on opening weekend in select partner theaters, including Regal, AMC Theatres, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Marcus Theatres, and Harkins Theatres. The tickets will auto-populate in the Member Center of the A24 app for all U.S. members.
But you will pay for the privilege: AAA24 used to cost $5/month, it’s now doubled to $9.99.
As of today’s grand reopening, members should find a ticket there for “Y2K,” “Queer,” “Babygirl,” and “The Brutalist.” The next batch includes “Opus” starring Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich, “Death of a Unicorne” starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, “Friendship” starring Tim Robinson, “Marty Supreme” starring Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow,...

Charles Melton's critically acclaimed performance in "May December" put Hollywood on notice, and since then, he's been on the rise, with a number of other high-profile projects on the horizon. He's now set to star in the upcoming Alex Garland film "Warfare" alongside the likes of Cosmo Jarvis and D'Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai, and is also slated to appear in the Elizabeth Olsen film "Love Child" and season 2 of Netflix's "Beef." With so many major roles coming up, it's easy to forget that Melton wasn't even the first choice to play Reggie Mantle on "Riverdale," the role that began his onscreen ascension.
In the show's first season, Reggie was played by Ross Butler, a veteran of teen drama shows who left "Riverdale" to focus more on his "13 Reasons Why" role as Zach Dempsey. "We love what Ross did with the role of Reggie [this season], but because of his commitments to other projects,...

And just like that, another hotly contested Emmy awards season race has come to a close. After last year's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes pushed the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony into January of this year, last night the glitzy statue-doling bash's 76th edition — this year hosted by Schitt's Creek's Eugene and Dan Levy — took place at the Peacock Theater in LA. And on a night of few major surprises, the two most nominated shows of the year — samurai epic Shōgun and kitchen-based "comedy" The Bear — got their hands ("Hands!") on 18 and 11 awards respectively, including historic Outstanding Actor and Actress In A Drama wins for the former's Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai, and second Outstanding Actor and Supporting Actor wins for the latter's Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Many of the hottest TV stars walked the Emmy Awards red carpet on Sunday in downtown Los Angeles. Gold Derby associate editor Latasha Ford enjoyed an exclusive spot on the celebratory afternoon, interviewing many of the celebrities who were nominated, presenting or part of their television show’s ensembles for Emmys 2024. The ABC ceremony was hosted by Dan Levy and Eugene Levy.

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards just aired on ABC, and things went about as expected. In other words, the excellent historical drama Shōgun won Best Drama Series; the caustic slice-of-life series The Bear won Best Comedy Series, since I guess it's a little more like a comedy than Shōgun; and the autobiographical stalker drama Baby Reindeer won Best Limited or Anthology Series.
Those three were the big winners of the night, with them each taking home four awards. Jeremy Allen White won Best Actor In A Comedy Series as expected, and his costar Ebon Moss-Bachrach won Best Supporting Actor. On the drama side, Hiroyuki Sanada won Best Actor and Anna Sawai won Best Actress; she was the one I was really invested in. She was magnificent as Mariko and if she hadn't won I would have been forced to write a strongly worded letter to whoever votes in these things.

FX’s Shogun and The Bear dominated the 76th Emmys in Los Angeles on Sunday night as they finished with 18 and 11 wins apiece, including last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards, despite an upset in the comedy series category where HBO/Max’s Hacks was the surprise winner.
Shogun was named best dramatic series and took home both lead acting wins for Hiroyuku Sanada and Anna Sawai, who became the first actress of Asian descent to win the category. The show itself became the first mostly not in the English language to win the series award.

Only eight months after the last Emmy ceremony (which was delayed due to the strikes), the Primetime Emmy Awards are back, although there were some big surprises in store. Everyone (myself included) expected The Bear to own every category it was nominated in. While it did well, winning many big categories including Best Actor in a Comedy Series, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress, it lost Best Comedy Series (and actress) to Hacks.
Netflix’s controversial limited series Baby Reindeer also cleaned up, nabbing awards for star and creator Richard Gadd plus co-star Jessica Gunning. But, FX was the evening’s big winner, with their epic series, Shogun, dominating the drama categories, with the great Hiroyuki Sanada winning the prize for Best Actor, and Anna Sawai taking Best Actress, alongside the show’s Best Drama win. It’s amazing to see how Shogun’s become an absolute phenomenon, with the show...

As Dan Levy said, the 76th Annual Emmy Awards were “Broadcast TV’s biggest night for honoring movie stars on streaming services.”
If you don’t have streaming and if you didn’t watch one of the 33 shows nominated out of the 516 scripted programs available in the US, you probably didn’t think much of the show.
But we’re still here rounding up the winners, so you didn’t have to watch. You’re welcome! Maybe the award winners will inspire you to watch a show you never have before.

If you missed the Emmy red carpet, you might not have known that Reservation Dogs star D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai arrived with an important symbol on his face. However, during the opening by Eugene and Dan Levy, the camera panned to the actor as the father-son duo cracked a joke about the Television Academy "discovering" a well beloved comedy series that's being honored for the first time in the acting and series categories this year despite being critically-acclaimed since its freshman season.
Woon-a-Tai is up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance as Bear Smallhill and he's using the moment to shine light on a very serious cause. The red handprint across his mouth represents solidarity with Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women whose stories are not often told and who are largely ignored by the media and law enforcement.
