Completed his course in acting at the Adayar Film Institute.

Srinivasan, who entered the cinema industry as an actor, has proved his talent in writing screenplays and also direction. Two of the films he has directed, _Vadakku Nooki Yanthram (1989)_ and Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala (1998), can be considered among the best commercial films ever produced in Malayalam.

Won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Story for _Sandhesam (1991)_, for Best Screenplay Writer for Mazhayethum Munpe (1995), for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value for Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala (1998), and for Best Film for _Vadakku Nooki Yanthram (1989)_.

Sreenivasan is married to a school teacher (retired). His elder son, Vineeth Sreenivasan, is a director, lyricist, singer, dubbing artist and actor. His younger son, Dhyan Sreenivasan, made his debut in Thira, a thriller movie directed by his brother.
