Stephen King has authorized a short story anthology set in the harrowing world of his seminal post-apocalyptic novel, The Stand.
The End of the World As We Know It: New Tales of Stephen King’s The Stand will be published in hardcover and e-book on August 19, 2025 via Gallery Books.
Edited by award-winning authors Christopher Golden and Brian Keene, the 800-page collection consists of 34 all-new stories set during and after the events of The Stand. It includes an introduction by King, a foreword by Golden, and an afterword by Keene.
The book features stories by Wayne Brady & Maurice Broaddus, C. Robert Cargill, Paul Tremblay, Richard Chizmar, Catherynne M. Valente, Joe R. Lansdale, Caroline Kepnes, Josh Malerman, Tananarive Due & Steven Barnes, Gabino Iglesias, and David J. Schow.

Legendary author Stephen King destroyed the world in his 1978 novel The Stand (which got an expanded edition in 1990), unleashing a virus that wiped out most of the population… but once society had crumbled, there was hope that the survivors would find a way to carry on. After, of course, a confrontation between good and supernatural evil decided which path would be taken. Although the entire world is affected by the pandemic, King keeps his focus on American characters because he envisioned The Stand as being an American Lord of the Rings. But if other authors had the chance to write something that takes place in the world of The Stand, they could tell the stories of what happened in other locations around the globe, as well as dig into characters that didn’t get the spotlight in King’s novel. Don Buchwald, who founded his eponymous Hollywood talent agency Don Buchwald & Associates in 1977 and counted Howard Stern among his many clients, died Monday of natural causes. He was 88.
Buchwald, who got the nickname “Superagent” from Stern, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, the company said in a statement Tuesday.
Buchwald founded Don Buchwald & Associates in New York City with an original team of five agents and eventually opened a Los Angeles office in 1992. The company since has rebranded as Buchwald and currently has 130 employees spanning film, TV, theater, comedy, literary, commercials, social media, sports, animation, radio, gaming, voice-over digital/branded lifestyles and more.

The Hulu series The 1619 Project and the Showtime feature Nothing Lasts Forever scored a leading three nominations apiece today as the Cinema Eye Honors announced its first round of contenders for the prestigious documentary-focused awards.
The 1619 Project, based on Nikole Hannah-Jones’s Pulitzer Prize-winning examination of slavery in North America and its impact up until the present day, earned nominations for Best Anthology Series, broadcast editing and broadcast cinematography. Hulu’s “The 1619 Project” and Showtime’s “Nothing Lasts Forever” lead all broadcast documentaries in nominations for the 17th annual Cinema Eye Honors, which were announced on Thursday during the Cinema Eye Fall Lunch at Redbird in downtown Los Angeles.
Each of the programs received three nominations in the five broadcast categories, with “The 1619 Project” nominated in the Anthology Series, cinematography and editing categories and “Nothing Lasts Forever” singled out in Broadcast film, cinematography and editing categories.
