Hershel Slappy was born on 2 February 1934 in Newark, New Jersey. He was an actor, known for Lean on Me (1989). He was married to Sarah Slappy. He died on 28 June 1997 in Paterson, New Jersey, USA.
Played himself in a bit role on Lean on Me (1989). He had previously worked as a custodian for the Paterson Schools system and played that role in the film. His title "Reverend" was used in the film a homage to his (then) current practice as a pastor.
