Mary Jo Salerno is a native of Chicago, IL. She received her Bachelor
of Music Degree from Drake University. While at Drake, she appeared in
A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC; THE DRESS, a contemporary one-act play by Mark
Bucci; and numerous opera scenes, where she portrayed "Adele" in DIE
FLEDERMAUS, "Adina" in ELIXER OF LOVE, and "Constanza" in THE ABDUCTION
FROM SERAGLIO. In community theatre, she appeared as "Yum-Yum" in THE
MIKADO with the Summer Operetta Workshop of Des Moines, and "Jenny" in
COMPANY with the Village Players of Libertyville. While in Chicago, she
studied voice with Eileen Deneen at the American Conservatory of Music
and has studied with Oren Brown while in New York. SNOW WHITE LIVE!
(1980) at Radio City Music Hall was her first profesional show, as well
as her New York debut. She was selected to play "Snow White" from over
600 girls who auditioned for the role in a nationwide search.
