Although it was working with a minuscule budget of $6,000 and only played in a few theaters in the United States, his 1998 debut feature "Following" was praised for its tight storytelling and terse psychological underpinnings. Following the success and reception of season three of Apple TV+’s alternate history sci-fi series For All Mankind, the program will make its return with another 10 episodes this fall. Now, Apple has released the trailer, building on the world – and beyond – that the series has explored thus far.

The official synopsis for season four of For All Mankind, as per Apple: “Rocketing into the new millennium in the eight years since season three, Happy Valley has rapidly expanded its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners. “If you’re poor and have no money, and can’t get yourself a lawyer who really gives a shit about your case, you’re going to die,” a defense attorney ruefully notes at one point in “The Phantom,” a fascinating and ultimately infuriating documentary.

Brian Eno has collected highlights from his soundtrack work over the past 40 years — some familiar, some hard-to-find — for the producer and ambient music pioneer’s new collection Film Music 1976-2020.

The compilation is a sequel of sorts to Eno’s 1978 EP Music for Films — as well as its follow-up installments in 1983 and 1988 — and bridges his film work from 1976’s Sebastiane (“Final Sunset”) through 2020’s Stewart Brand documentary We Are As Gods.

It’s a privilege befitting an ambient icon who once soundtracked a moon landing documentary: On Tuesday, the science festival Starmus V presented Brian Eno with a certificate commemorating that Asteroid 81948 has been named in his honor.

Astronomer Marc Buie of the Southwest Research Institute, who discovered the asteroid, presented the certificate. He selected Eno for the honor in conjunction with the International Astronomical Union and the Minor Planet Centre.

Nasa’s historic Apollo programme only becomes more fascinating as time passes and technology advances. Ahead of the release of Todd Douglas Miller’s Apollo 11, Criterion are offering a chance to see another Space Race documentary, similarly relying on remastered Nasa footage and the voices of people involved in those groundbreaking (ground-leaving?) space missions, some fifty years ago.

Charitably, director Al Reinert and editor Susan Korda don’t just focus on the first Moon landing, but rather cover multiple ventures, from Apollo 8 through to the final Apollo 17 mission in 1972.

Brian Eno will release an expanded, remastered version of Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks, his 1983 ambient collaboration with Daniel Lanois and brother Roger Eno that features a disc’s worth of new music from the trio.

Al Reinert, who covered NASA for the Houston Chronicle and went on to co-write the screenplay for Apollo 13 which earned him an Oscar nomination, has died. He was 71. Reinert died New Year’s Eve of complications of cancer at his home in Wimberley, Texas, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Reinert began his career as a crime reporter for the Chronicle, then moved into covering NASA in the 1970s where he discovered his love and fascination for space. He directed the 1989 documentary film For All Mankind, which earned him his first Oscar nomination for best documentary feature. The film concentrates on the beauty of the Earth as seen from space, along with interviews with Apollo crew members and mission control staff played over original mission footage.

Reinert told the Houston Chronicle in a 2015 interview that he didn’t want For All Mankind to be a traditional documentary with talking heads.
