The Inside Out franchise may not be finished just yet. Inside Out 2 director Kelsey Mann and producer Mark Nielsen recently talked about the film at the Critics’ Choice Awards, hinting that there’s plenty of potential for another sequel.
‘This world is so rich. You can go down so many roads,’ Nielsen told. ‘There are so many emotions to explore. There are further stages in Riley’s life. You never know.’ That sounds promising, but before you get too excited, he also admitted that there’s nothing officially in the works yet.
‘There’s nothing in progress right now,‘ he said. But with how well the last movie performed, a third film seems like an obvious next step.

Did you know that there's a movie out there starring Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Poehler, the late Edward Hermann, "The Office's" Jenna Fischer, Peter Bogdanovich, and even Melissa Rauch from "The Big Bang Theory?" What if I told you the movie is written and directed by Matthew Weiner, a veteran of "The Sopranos" who went on to create "Mad Men?" Are you wondering why you haven't seen it before?! It's probably because that movie, 2014's "Are You Here," was a huge flop — but I'll get back to that in just a moment. First, what is "Are You Here" — which is currently proving pretty popular on Amazon Prime Video — about?
When we first meet Wilson's local weatherman Steve Dallas, he's a womanizer who barely does his job — often outsourcing the actual weather predictions to his assistant Delia Shepherd (Lauren Lapkus) before taking credit for them on air — and blows his money on expensive dates,...

With Broad City in their rearview, Ilana Glazer is plotting their return to television.
The Emmy winner recently revealed that they’re developing a series with nods to Sex and the City, which they said will focus on the “woman and gay guy friendship.”
“I’m writing a show right now. I’m doing a rewrite actually of this draft right now,” they said on the Dinner’s on Me podcast. “It’s like Sex and the City with two women and two gay guys. ‘Cause the woman and gay guy friendship is a big deal.
“My first best friend is my brother, [who is a] gay guy. All of my best friends growing up are gay boys. I want it to be them,” added Glazer.

More than 25 years later, the NBC sitcom "Seinfeld" continues to endure as one of the greatest and most cherished series of all time. The story of the show's success has been documented before, countless times, but it's good to remind ourselves that while other big-hit shows of the 1990s, like "Friends" and "Frasier," were hits straight out of the box, the same wasn't true for "Seinfeld." The show's first season was just a handful of episodes airing in the late summer, and things were ultimately hanging on by a thread until its third season. But these days, it's much easier to look at the show for its massive influence, how audiences continue to return to it in the age of streaming, and how it wasn't just a hit with audiences, but big with critics and the industry, too. That said, you can't win every plaudit, something that applies to "Seinfeld...

This transition, for Ben Stiller, is reminiscent of another true Hollywood superstar who also started off as a comic actor. Bryan Cranston, long before he was cooking up meth, was the hilarious Hal Wilkerson on Malcolm in the Middle.

Martha Stewart shared a surprising backstage story from her past during a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” revealing how her parole restrictions prevented her from hosting “Saturday Night Live” in 2005.
The lifestyle entrepreneur disclosed that NBC had approached her about hosting the iconic comedy show immediately after her release from the Alderson federal prison camp. However, her parole conditions—which limited her to just eight hours outside her home each day—made it impossible to meet the show’s intense rehearsal and production requirements.
Stewart expressed clear frustration about the missed opportunity, even remembering her parole officer’s name and contact information. “That bastard!” she said, indicating her lingering disappointment. Despite the setback, she remains hopeful about potentially hosting the show, even encouraging fans to “start a campaign” for her appearance.

Martha Stewart could’ve hosted Saturday Night Live after she spent time behind bars.
The entrepreneur and television host said that she was invited to host SNL in 2005 after spending give months in prison for lying about a stock trade but her parole officer stopped her from doing the show.
“I wanted to and they asked me as I was coming out of Alderson — that camp that I was in for a while,” Stewart joked on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. “And my parole officer wouldn’t give me the time to do it.”
Stewart noted that she was only allowed to be out of her house eight hours a day.
“The parole officer said, no?” Fallon asked Stewart which prompted her response, “No, that bastard!”
Stewart added that she still had the name and number of her parole officer, adding, “I’m so pissed,” about not being able to do it.

For many celebrities, there's a relatively small window in which they are considered for hosting Saturday Night Live. One celebrity had that window slammed shut, not by SNL, Lorne Michaels, or the network, but by their parole officers.
Television personality Martha Stewart revealed Lorne Michaels asked her to host Saturday Night Live in 2005. The SNL boss likely wanted to capitalize on the timing, as Stewart had just been released from serving five months in prison for a fraud conviction.
"I wanted to, and they asked me as I was coming out of Alderson, that camp I was in for a while,” Stewart said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “And my parole officer wouldn’t give me the time to do it … That bastard! I still have his name and his number.”
According to Stewart, the parameters of her parole limited her time outside of the house to eight hours per day.

Martha Stewart has obviously had a very successful career, changing the way we view both the lifestyle industry and the Comedy Central roast industry.
But despite all of her accomplishments and undeniable cultural contributions, the 83-year-old star has never once hosted Saturday Night Live. But that doesn’t mean that she hasn’t been invited to host. As Stewart recently told Jimmy Fallon, Lorne Michaels asked her to host the show decades ago, but unfortunately, she was legally prevented from doing so.

Adam Scott may have a new office job now, but he’s missing his time at Pawnee City Hall. The actor is currently starring in season 2 of Apple TV+’s hit show Severance. The series is only in its second season and the momentum continues to roll. Our own Alex Maidy gave season 2 a perfect 10 score when he said in his review, “The cast is exceptional, and the direction, led by Ben Stiller doing the best work of his career, improves on what came before it. This is such a rich world that has deepened what the audience knows without sacrificing any quality along the way. Each episode is full of character development that makes you care deeply about what happens to each member of the Mdr team and even gives reasons to care about the antagonists as well.”
According to Deadline, Scott recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast,...

Jb Smoove is probably best known for playing Larry David’s sidekick/soulmate Leon Black on Curb Your Enthusiasm. But years earlier, the comedian was a writer for Saturday Night Live, where he came up with some gloriously bizarre pitches. For starters, there was the “Urine Detective” sketch, in which host Johnny Knoxville would play a gumshoe who solves crimes by tasting the pee of suspects. It never made it to the air.
Another rejected idea was about a couple that met as military helicopter pilots, but even after settling down and starting a family, they keep constantly screaming because they “can’t get the helicopter out of their systems.” He also pitched a sketch featuring host Tom Brady as “Nick Buttkowski,” the first football player to ever smack his teammate on the ass.

Martha Stewart has revealed that she was once asked to host “Saturday Night Live,” but her parole officer wouldn’t allow it.
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” on Monday, Stewart said she got the call from Lorne Michaels after her release from prison in 2005. Stewart served five months at the Federal Prison Camp in Alderson, W.Va after being convicted of fraud in relation to the ImClone stock trading case.

Adam Scott may have traded his Cones of Dunshire skills for Macro Data Refinement, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about Pawnee.
In an interview for Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast promoting the second season of Apple TV+’s Severance, the two-time Emmy nominee reflected on his comedic roots, including his time on the beloved NBC mockumentary Parks and Recreation.
“I haven’t seen the show in a long time,” Scott said after Horowitz played a clip of character Ben Wyatt’s much-memed “Do you think a depressed person could make this?” scene. “Honestly because it makes me sad to see the show, because I miss them and I miss all the actors even though we’re constantly in touch and stuff, but I miss the time of making it.”

"Saturday Night Live" is now in its 50th year of existence, which means the sketch comedy show will spend much of 2025 warmly celebrating its own broadcast legacy. Some of this is earned. Producer Lorne Michaels was in the right place at the right time to pull together an epochal collection of comedic talent in 1975, and it's astonishing to consider that the show has remained relevant through 10 U.S. presidencies and god knows how many shifts in the popular culture. Though many people still watch the show live, viewers who've other plans on Saturday night can wait until Sunday to read episode recaps at any number of websites (none better than Ethan Anderton's at /Film) and/or watch individual skits on YouTube. "SNL" isn't going anywhere — though, as a fan who's lived through its lowest lows (seasons 6 and 11 in particular), I feel like it's never been more mechanical than it is now.

In the various conversations about pop culture you've had in your life, there's a good chance you've heard someone confidently say something like, "I miss when 'Saturday Night Live' used to be funny," or maybe, "'SNL' isn't as good as when [insert their favorite cast members] was on the show." There's an equally good chance that this person probably saw a couple rough sketches in an episode they happened to catch on a random Saturday and used that as the basis for their argument, comparing it to the sketches they've loved for years that have stood the test of time.
But the reality is that "SNL" has always been simultaneously outstanding and bad throughout its entire run, which is a big part of why it has endured 50 years on the air and counting. More importantly, "SNL" remains a comedy institution that, at its best, brings a strange new character, infectious catchphrase,...

The cast of Saturday Night Live shares a bond unlike most anything else in television. The small group of performers spend countless hours together in pursuit of comedy. So when SNL fired one cast member in the '90s, it was no surprise to hear a couple of his colleagues took a stand.
Chris Parnell has the distinct honor of being fired from Saturday Night Live twice. The first came in 2001 after he joined the cast in 1998. SNL brought Parnell back halfway through the next season only to show him the door again in 2006.
The first firing came as a bit of a shock to Parnell. He thought he was hitting his stride, but his clashes with Lorne Michaels didn't help his case. He learned in the summer of 2001 that Michaels and SNL chose not to renew his contract.

Nostalgia baiting has become so common, it’s erupted into nano-genres all its own. Take documentary filmmaking. Where once there were arguments over what was left out, what was put in, and what constituted unbiased storytelling, now the landscape is dominated by celebrity self-profiles where viewers can consider themselves lucky if the subject of the (puff) piece isn’t also a producer with final cut. What do “Beckham,” “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” and “Sly” have to do with nostalgia? Typically, to get famous enough to merit your own “documentary,” you need a body of work that people already love — hence, even series like “The Last Dance” or films like “Steve! (Martin): A Documentary in 2 Pieces” traffic in nostalgia, tempting viewers to revisit the glory days of such-and-such or so-and-so via interviews with the talking heads of today.

Peacock’s “SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night” is a four-part documentary series to celebrate 50 years of Saturday Night Live. The show’s history is explored in each episode, from the intense casting auditions in “Five Minutes” to the challenging and exhausting writers’ room in “Written By.” It also delves into the tumultuous 11th season, dubbed “The Weird Year,” and the story behind the infamous “More Cowbell” sketch.
The series, made by NBC’s streaming service, is a look back at the show’s long history and an insider’s guide to its success. It’s a mix of nostalgia and behind-the-scenes story telling to appeal to both long-time fans and newbies.

After the 7 season run of the NBC sitcom, Parks and Recreation, came to an end in 2015, the cast of the show, including Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Nick Offerman, Amy Poehler, and others made a special appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. However, in addition to a farewell to the show, they served another memorable moment with an unexpected make-out session between Plaza and Jim O’Heir.

We often believe that once an opportunity is gone, it’s better to look for the next door. But Adam Scott proved that hanging on to the same old thing can sometimes be beneficial. Take for example, when he auditioned for Parks and Recreation, Scott was initially rejected. However, holding onto his hope eventually landed him the role of Ben Wyatt.

But do you know which role he had originally auditioned for? Well, according to Adam Scott’s interview with GQ, the actor revealed reading the same scenes alongside Nick Offerman, who landed the role of Ron Swanson. Now, considering how Offerman seemed like the perfect actor to play Ron, it’s for sure that Scott might have doomed the show, had he succeeded to score that role.

“Comedy slowly became rock ‘n’ roll,” says Joe Piscopo, a Saturday Night Live cast member between 1980 and 1984, in the opening episode of SNL 50: Beyond Saturday Night.
The Peacock docuseries, which is exec produced by Morgan Neville, the man behind Fred Rogers doc Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, 20 Feet From Stardom and the Pharrell Williams Lego doc Piece By Piece, tells the story of the venerable NBC sketch comedy show ahead of its 50th anniversary next month.

I’ve always been fascinated by watching Hollywood screen tests of icons before they were famous, but nothing prepared me for the spectacle of watching some of Saturday Night Live‘s most celebrated players watching tapes of their own auditions, raw nerves on display. Andy Samberg threw up during his first audition. Amy Poehler asks to stop after watching a morsel of her understated tryout: “That’s enough, oh boy,” she smiles. Fascinating moments like these are peppered throughout the four hours of SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, Peacock‘s terrific behind-the-scenes docuseries that marks many of the remarkable highs and equally unforgettable lows of the revered late-night sketch-comedy variety brainchild of Lorne Michaels. Executive produced by Oscar-winner Morgan Neville, with a different director helming each of the roughly hourlong films, the series is especially enlightening in its ...

In the very first minutes of Peacock’s new docuseries about NBC’s Saturday Night Live, former cast member Joe Piscopo describes it as “the biggest show ever, the biggest thing to happen to television.” And while reasonable minds could quibble over whether that’s a bit of an overstatement, it is indeed difficult to deny the series’ lasting cultural impact. And not just because it’d be churlish to nitpick a compliment on the occasion of someone’s 50th birthday, even if that “someone” is a TV program.
That attitude, self-aggrandizing and self-congratulatory but perhaps justifiably so, prevails throughout SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night. Despite the “unprecedented access” promised in marketing materials, the documentary is the exact opposite of a warts-and-all portrait; it is, instead, a glossy love letter to a hallowed institution. But it’s at least a pleasantly watchable one, thanks to its genuine enthusiasm for its subject matter,...

Iconic American comedy show Saturday Night Live turns 50 this year, kicking off the celebrations is a four part documentary.
It’s no exaggeration to say that Saturday Night Live is responsible for launching the careers of a huge amount of American comedy talent, from the early days with Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, John Belushi, and Bill Murray, through eras with the much missed Phil Hartman, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Molly Shannon, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig and many, many more.
This month sees the release of Saturday Night in the UK, following its release in the US last year. It’s a new film from Jason Reitman, who co-wrote the script with Gil Keenan, and it dramatizes the chaotic, stressful ninety minutes leading up to the very first show in 1975. The acclaimed sitcom "Modern Family" was an enormous hit with audiences and influential on contemporary American television. Running for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020, the ABC comedy took the mockumentary format, popularized by sitcoms like "The Office," out of the workplace and into a domestic context. And while the conclusion of "Modern Family" left a void in network television, there are plenty of similar comedies that fans can connect with.
From other family-based network sitcoms to shows that adopt a similar mockumentary style, "Modern Family" has a growing number of like-minded counterparts. These shows offer hilarious perspectives on the ever-evolving state of the American family, reflecting the times that we live in.
