Tyler Perry has set his 2025 TV and film slate at Netflix and it includes two new projects: the film Madea’s Destination Wedding and the TV series, She the People. This is Perry’s second Madea project with the streaming following A Madea Homecoming released in 2022.

Madea’s Destination Wedding follows Brian and his ex-wife Debrah who are shocked to learn their daughter Tiffany is engaged to a rapper she met on a yacht—and the wedding is in two weeks. Madea and her crew head to the Bahamas, stirring up chaos and heartwarming fun.

Jaleel White played Steve Urkel in the ABC sitcom Family Matters for nine seasons, but don’t expect the actor to revisit the role if it’s just a “cash grab.”

In a new interview, White revealed that he shot down reprising his role of the annoying next-door neighbor in a possible reboot of the sitcom that was part of the Tgif block of programming.

“I embrace the Tgif legacy, but I’m also careful to acknowledge that Tgif was a sinking ship, and you cannot make shows like that right now,” White said on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. “I feel like [Fuller House] got away with it because they have a schmaltzy, kind of vanilla thing that they do that’s very Hallmarkish to be quite honest and it benefits Candace [Cameron Bure] and that’s wonderful, but I just didn’t feel like we could get away with that same brand of humor.

One chapter in Jaleel White’s new memoir, Growing Up Urkel, is called “Entitled Little Shit,” which tells you all you need to know about his ugly reputation among Family Matters’ adult cast members. “Am I difficult to work with?” pondered White as an adult. Maybe, he concludes, but the adults on set were just as bad — or worse.

Entitled? That moniker, according to White, belongs to Jo Marie Payton, who played Harriette Winslow. White doesn’t address Payton’s claims that he once challenged her to a physical fight, but he does question her professionalism. “One of my favorite Jo Marie-isms,” he writes, “is how frequently Jo would arrive late for table readings.” Each tardy arrival would come with a wild excuse.

"The Proud Family" is getting revived 21 years after it first debuted on the Disney Channel. "The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder" picks right back up where the original left off, with 14-year-old Penny Proud (Kyla Pratt) coming into her own and navigating the modern-day world with her friends and family by her side.

Pratt, along with Tommy Davidson (Oscar Proud), Paula Jai Parker (Trudy Proud), Jo Marie Payton (Suga Mama), Cedric the Entertainer (Uncle Bobby), Carlos Mencia (Felix Boulevardez), Maria Canals-Barrera (Sunset Boulevardez), Alvaro Guttierez (Papi), Karen Malina White (Dijonay Jones), Soleil Moon Frye (Zoey Howzer), and Alisa Reyes (Lacienega Boulevardez) are all reprising their respective roles. Actors Sherri Shepherd and Jo Marie Payton have joined the feature film “ImPossible” in key roles.

The movie, from executive producer and NFL champ Donald Driver, will weave narrative with Brandon Keith Lewis’ real-life diabetes battle. He stars and co-wrote the film with partner Seckeita Lewis, who directs. Lewis contends with morbid obesity and type 2 diabetes onscreen and in his life.

Shepherd and Payton (the beloved matriarch of the TV classic “Family Matters”) are joined by supporting cast Gregg Daniel and Irma P. Hall. Principal photography recently wrapped in Texas and New Mexico, and a second unit documenting Lewis’ efforts to change his body and life will soon get underway.

“ImPossible” received a Panavision New Filmmakers grant and was incubated at the Sundance Collab producers’ course. Milan Chakraborty of Marginal MediaWorks (“Assassination Nation”) will produce with Lewis. A distributor is not presently attached.

A gender-flipped Perfect Strangers reboot is in development at HBO Max, with TVLine Dream Emmy nominee Robin Thede (A Black Lady Sketch Show) and London Hughes (The Netflix Afterparty) set to star in the prospective comedy.

According to Deadline, the reboot is loosely inspired by the original series, and centers on the relationship between Dejay (Thede) and Poppy (Hughes), who “unexpectedly discover they are half-sisters when they both inherit a one-bedroom apartment above a trap yoga studio in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.” Thede will pen the script as part of her overall deal with Warner Bros. TV, and executive-produce alongside original series producer Robert L. Boyett.

The Proud Family will meet some new faces when the Louder and Prouder spin-off series arrives on Disney+. Billy Porter, Zachary Quinto, and Ej Johnson have been added to the cast of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. 2020 sucked, but at least we had the ’90s sitcom “Family Matters.”

The former T.G.I.F. sitcom, which aired on ABC from 1989-1998, saw a massive uptick in minutes watched last year, according to a Nielsen study. All told, “Family Matters,” was watched for nearly 11.4 billion minutes, up a whopping 392% from 2019’s tally of 2.3 billion minutes.

Yes, we did that. (Shoutout to you Urkel fans.)

That viewership, like all in this story, includes everyone age 2 or older — a giant demo generally referred to as “total viewers.”

“Family Matters,” which features an all-Black cast, follows the Winslow family as they deal with various misadventures, many of them caused by their pesky next-door neighbor, ultra-nerd Steve Urkel (Jaleel White).

The show also starred Reginald VelJohnson, Kellie Shanygne Williams, Darius McCrary, Jo Marie Payton and Rosetta LeNoire. “Family Matters” ran for 215 episodes. More episodes means more opportunity for racking up big viewership minutes.

A revival of Disney Channel’s “The Proud Family” is in the works at Disney+, series star Jo Marie Payton said on Tuesday.

Payton broke the news on the third hour of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” telling host Keke Palmer that Suga Mama, her character from the show, is “still large and in charge” and “will be doing some new episodes come February.”

A representative for Disney+ declined to comment.

Disney Channel’s popular animated series The Proud Family is making a comeback. Jo Marie Payton, who voiced Suga Mama in the series which aired for three seasons from 2001-2005, confirmed today on GMA3 that a revival is in the works at upcoming streaming service Disney+.

Disney+ continues to feed the nostalgia. It sounds like the McGuires aren’t the only beloved Disney Channel family reuniting on Disney+ next year. Penny, Suga Mama and the rest of The Proud Family, which originally aired for three seasons (2001–2005), are also planning an epic homecoming.

The confirmation came during Tuesday’s episode of GMA3, which featured a reunion of ’90s sitcom parents. Jo Marie Payton (aka Family Matters‘ Harriette Winslow) was asked by host Keke Palmer if she’s anything like Suga Mama, the character she voiced on the popular animated Disney Channel series.

Bounce TV says, "I do." The network has renewed its Mann & Wife TV series for a third season. Mann & Wife stars the real-life husband and wife team of David Mann and Tamela Mann, who also executive produce the sitcom. The cast also includes Vivica A. Fox, Tony Rock, and JoMarie Payton.

Series co-creator Roger Bobb serves as executive producer and director. New season two episodes of Mann & Wife are currently airing Tuesday nights at 9:00 p.m. Et/Pt.Season three of Mann & Wife will premiere in spring, 2017.

Bounce TV today announced that it has renewed its original drama series "Saints & Sinners" for a second season.  The new series is setting records for viewership for the network currently, in its first season, airing on Sunday nights at 9pm. The first season finale will air April 24. Reginald VelJohnson, who played the Family Matters patriarch from 1989 to 1998, will appear in an episode of Girl Meets World‘s upcoming third season, E! Online reports.

Reginald VelJohnson and Jo Marie Payton, who starred on the sitcom as Carl and Harriette Winslow, will appear together in The Flight Before Christmas, according to TV Line.

The television movie will also star Mayim Bialik from The Big Bang Theory. The film tells the story of a pair of holiday travelers that get stuck together on Christmas.
