Ellen Pompeo’s Natalia Grace-inspired Hulu series has released its first look and premiere date.
The anticipated eight-episode limited series, Good American Family, will release two episodes on March 19 on Hulu, followed by weekly installments for the remainder of its run.
The series was announced back in summer 2022, prompting Pompeo to scale back her onscreen role on ABC’s veteran medical series Grey’s Anatomy so she could star in and exec produce Good American Family, which was at the time described as an untitled orphan project for the streamer.
Pompeo stayed on as Grey’s weekly voiceover narrator but scaled back her appearances as Meredith Grey (she is also an executive producer). When filming wrapped on Good American Family, she upped her onscreen role for season 21, which returns March 6 on ABC.

"I wanna be still, the way I want to get still." 1091 Pictures has released an official trailer for an indie, very dark comedy titled Killing Eleanor, which premiered at the Scad Savannah Film Festival and St. Louis Film Festival last year. A new film from director Rich Newey, this off-beat dramedy involves two women who strike up a friendship and a deal to help each other get through, or get out of, life. A terminally-ill old lady convinces a self-destructive pain killer addict to help kill her, in exchange for clean urine. Their right to die odyssey is filled with complications as Eleanor's past and Natalie's lies catch up with them. Uultimately, helping Eleanor die with dignity might just teach Natalie to live with dignity. Annika Marks co-stars with Jenny O'Hara, and with a cast including Jane Kaczmarek, Betsy Brandt, Thomas Sadoski, Camryn Manheim, and Chris Mulkey. Seems like...

If you watched television in the late 1980s, you probably remember the My Sister Sam TV show on CBS. The sitcom revolves around San Francisco freelance photographer Samantha "Sam" Russell (Pam Dawber). Sam's world is turned upside down when her 16-year-old sister, Patti (Rebecca Schaeffer), comes to live with her. Others in the cast include Jenny O'Hara, Joel Brooks, and David Naughton. Executive produced by Diane English (pre-Murphy Brown), the series did well enough in its first season to be renewed but the ratings saw a big decline in year two and was cancelled in May 1988 with 12 installments left unaired.
While My Sister Sam didn't last, it looked clear that Schaeffer was destined for bigger things. Tragically, in July 1989, the actress was fatally shot by an obsessed fan in the doorway of her Los Angeles apartment. He had been stalking her for three years.

A group of people are trapped inside of an elevator only to find that the Devil himself might be amongst them picking them off for their past transgressions.
With Devil, the only way the film knows how to generate scares or suspense is to cut to the black screen, have the film's various characters skriek or act terrified with the viewer unaware of exactly what is happening since all of the lightening is out, and then to have the film light back up only to reveal that some horrific or diabolical act has occurred in the meantime, then repeat. In the past this technique was effective with film's like The Blair Witch Project, but the problem is that it has been done...

Although “Devil” was written but not directed by M. Night Shyamalan his influence is palpable throughout. Just like with “Signs” and “The Village” the story centers around a small group of people held in confined surroundings and battling an unknown menace. The difference with previous Shyamalan vehicles is that “Devil” is cast with only five people who spend the length of the film stuck together in an elevator. And if it weren’t for the other characters on the outside, it would be pretty difficult to sustain an interest in the film.
Detective Bowden (Chris Messina) gets called to a huge skyscraper in Philly after someone jumps out a window. A heavy-handed (and annoyingly stereotyped) Latino voiceover informs us that the Devil often appears in the wake of suicides to wreak havoc among random strangers.

In a Screen Actors Guild election that was widely considered a referendum on merger with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, proponents of that idea emerged with a clear mandate. When the results of SAG's 2010 national board of directors election were announced Sept. 23, MembershipFirst, the SAG faction that emerged from the group of actors who helped scuttle merger in 2003, lost the fight for all 13 Hollywood-based national seats up for grabs to its rival faction, the pro-merger Unite for Strength. MembershipFirst partisans had held all 13 of those seats. The loss hands the coalition of Hollywood, New York, and regional moderates who had held a slim majority of the national seats—and who have been vocal in support of merger—a commanding boardroom advantage.Even more striking is MembershipFirst's loss of its majority on the Hollywood board. Unite for Strength won an overwhelming 33 of 35 open seats. Ufs, formed in...

Devil Written by: Brian Nelson (screenplay), M. Night Shyamalan (story) Directed by: John Erick Dowdle Starring: Chris Messina, Logan Marshall-Green, Jenny O'Hara, Bojana Novakovic The most menacing shadow in Devil is that cast by its producer, M. Night Shyamalan. The perceived decline in the quality of his work has eroded public praise into apathy and apathy into contempt over the course of his downhill career. Things have gotten so ugly for the once (briefly) untouchable filmmaker that I wonder how the reaction to Devil might have changed had he divorced his name from it completely. Written by Brian Nelson (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy) and directed by John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine), it stands to reason that M. Night, after pitching the idea and relinquishing creative control, would have receded into the background. The problem, I think, is that Shyamalan’s fingerprint is still so clear on the final product. Psychologically speaking,...

The players: Director: John Erick Dowdle, Writer: Brian Nelson, Cast: Chris Messina, Logan Marshall-Green, Jenny O'Hara, Bojana Novakovic
Facts of interest: M. Night Shyamalan developed the film's story.
The plot: Five strangers get on an elevator that breaks down and causes panic among them. Is the devil lurking anywhere close by?
Our thoughts: John Erick Dowdle’s “Devil” is the first movie in M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Night Chronicles” series, and while this little horror thriller lacks the kind of originality that would set it apart from others in the genre, the film still boasts a solid pace that provides 80 minutes of decent entertainment.

An elevator isn't really the most comfortable place to be; it is a cramped and slow experience fraught with the torments of bad Muzak. More than all that, you can never really be sure that you're not standing next to the great hoary lord of the infernal abyss.
Such it is for the poor lost souls of Devil.
A small group of individuals become trapped when an elevator carting them up a tall business high-rise stalls between floors. It might have something to do with the nameless sod who threw himself off of the building earlier that morning while shrieking something or other about Satan; we'll never know. Building security works to free them all, but a...

Devil
Starring Chris Messina, Logan Marshall-Green, Bojana Novakovic, Jenny O'Hara, Bokeem Woodbine
Directed by John Erick Dowdle
Rated PG-13
With his name tarnished by a string of badly-reviewed and poor-performing movies, M. Night Shyamalan is taking a back seat for a trilogy of movies called The Night Chronicles. He comes up with the stories and produces, but allows others to write and direct. Devil is the first entry in this series, and it looks like this could be a career-saving move for Shyamalan.
The premise is pretty straightforward, but the approach and the execution are enough to make this movie stand out. Five strangers find themselves trapped in an elevator, and there's reason to believe that the devil is among them. We know this because of narration supplied by Ramirez (Jacob Vargas), a stock character of the "superstitious Hispanic" variety. He shares a story his mother used to tell him...

And what a way to round out the ever-so busy Friday news day! Sit back, kids. We've got two new clips from the M. Night Shyamalan produced flick Devil that will help you get to know our victims a bit better!
Along with Shyamalan, Devil is being produced by Sam Mercer. It was the first pic in a deal between Shyamalan and Media Rights Capital to create Night Chronicles, a banner that will hatch one genre film per year for the next three years.
Chris Messina, Logan Marshall-Green, Jenny O'Hara, Jacob Vargas, Matt Craven, Bojana Novakovic, Bokeem Woodbine, Geoffrey Arend, and Caroline Dhavernas star in the flick.
Even with its release date approaching, the only thing that we know about the plot is that Messina plays the lead role of Bowden, a sobered-up homicide detective, and it's a "supernatural thriller" set in an elevator with one of the passengers being the devil.

Universal Pictures has released a new film clip for their upcoming horror thriller Devil. Despite the fact that M. Night Shyamalan came up with the story it looks like a decent film. I do think it's funny that whenever I go to the movies, and the trailer for the film shows, everyone in the theater groans when they see Shyamalan's name come up on the screen. The guy just doesn't have the marketable name anymore. People are tired of him, and his films. Even though Devil may end up being a good film it could very well bomb at the box-office because Shyamalan's name is attached to the project. The best thing Universal can do to market this film is to remove Shaymalan's name from it. Then it might have a chance.
