Because of injuries sustained in an accident during the production of the movie The Farmer (1977), Memmoli had to decline the role of the disturbed passenger in Taxi Driver: Motorista de Táxi (1976) that was ultimately played by the film's director Martin Scorsese. It was reported that the accident injury played a part in his death.
George was a bartender and intermission vibraphone player at the Tunetimers Club in Queens, New York City in the early 1960s. The Tunetimers would play in Las Vegas, Nevada as a lounge act for many years.
