Motörhead are rolling out a massive 50th anniversary celebration in 2025, starting with a batch of vinyl reissues of their seminal albums.

Special half-speed mastered vinyl repressings of Overkill, Bomber, and Ace of Spades are due out February 28th. These limited editions each come on striking colored wax with an exclusive poster.

Current Scorpions and former Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee revealed that he’s recovering after spending most of the holiday season battling a “very serious blood infection (Sepsis).”

In a post on Facebook, Dee said he spent three weeks in a hospital in his hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden, during which he underwent “several operations.” Thanking his doctors and nurses for their “excellent care,” Dee said he’s now back “home fighting this bastard bacteria” and that his “numbers are all going in the right direction.”

Drummer Mikkey Dee has opened up about a recent battle with sepsis, revealing that he nearly died from the condition, which occurs when the immune system improperly responds to an infection.

The longtime Motörhead drummer and current Scorpions stickman is now home and continuing to recover after being admitted to the hospital about three weeks ago and undergoing multiple surgeries. He took to Facebook to update fans on his condition:

Since his passing in 2015, Lemmy Kilmister’s ashes have been put on display at some of his favorite old haunts, including the Rainbow Bar & Grill in Los Angeles, the Nottingham, UK music venue Rock City, and Hellfest in France, where they are enshrined in a massive statue. Now, an urn containing some of Lemmy’s ashes is set to be displayed at one of the Motörhead frontman’s favorite London strip clubs, Stringfellows.

Motörhead manager Todd Singerman told The Sun that Stringfellows “always held a ­special place in Lemmy’s heart,” explaining that, “He loved the relaxed ­environment — and he certainly loved the view. I know he’s relieved he can get back to enjoying one of his favorite places.”

James Gunn is a curious figure in popular culture. As a young man, just rising in the film business, Gunn co-wrote the witty and disgusting Troma epic "Tromeo & Juliet" with Lloyd Kaufman, and it featured kinky sex, a bisexual Juliet, cow monsters, mutant penis creatures, and an opening narration by Lemmy from Motörhead. Motörhead have announced a new book titled Ye Book of Inconsequential Scribbles of Lemmy Kilmister 1st Esq., showcasing the doodles and musings of the band’s legendary late frontman.

The tome is limited to 500 hand-numbered copies, and is available to pre-order from Motörhead webstore for the price of $40, with shipments expected in early November. An official description reads:

The conductor of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s crazy train on Saturday night was actor Jack Black, who had the honor of inducting Ozzy Osbourne into the institution with a speech that was predictably reverent and hilarious.

A new 7-inch vinyl/CD box set collects Motörhead’s latter-era A-side and B-side singles, ranging from 1995 through 2006.

Dubbed We Take No Prisoners: The Singles: 1995 – 2006, the set will arrive on vinyl (nine 7-inch vinyl discs) and as a 2-cd box set, both out October 25th. The track “Shut Your Mouth,” from the band’s 2002 album Hammered, was chosen as the lead single for the collection.

The box set is especially notable for collectors. As mentioned in the band’s press release, 7-inch singles were a dominant format up until the ’90s, when CDs took over. Many of these tracks were released as CD singles at the time, before becoming sought-after collectibles. Not only does this box set return them to print, but most are receiving their first-ever release on 7-inch vinyl.

A procession of 55 Harley-Davidson bikers helped transport a bust containing the ashes of Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister to the Nottingham, UK music venue Rock City on Monday (August 12th).

The bikers rode out from the completion of the Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park in Derbyshire for about an hour’s drive, escorting a truck containing the bust.

Upon arriving at Rock City, a ceremony was held to embed the bust in a lavish alcove in the venue’s brick wall alongside an “Ace of Spades” plaque bearing Lemmy’s name. The bust will remain on display throughout the year at Rock City — where Motörhead played 10 shows between 1987 and 2006 — and return to the Bloodstock festival grounds each August.

Despite being eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for more than 20 years already, the late Lemmy Kilmister and his band Motörhead are still noticeably absent from its list of inductees. It’s a glaring oversight that Metallica frontman James Hetfield lamented in a new interview.

Deicide leader Glen Benton has sounded off on the state of the modern heavy metal scene.

In short, Benton feels that things have simply gotten less metal, citing the hyper sub-categorization of the genre and the onstage attire of those who play it.

Benton’s remarks hail from a new interview with Knac.com. At first, Benton describes his upbringing when he was surrounded by classic metal such as Black Sabbath and Judas Priest — the music that motivated him to the career path he’s been on for decades.

Lemmy Kilmister will always be a part of James Hetfield’s DNA — literally! The Metallica frontman has just gotten a new tattoo using ink mixed with the late Motörhead icon’s cremated ashes.

The tattoo of an iron cross with a spade on top appears on Hetfield’s right middle finger. The Metallica singer-guitarist posted a photo of himself flipping the bird on the band’s Instagram page (see below), writing, “With the steady hand of friend and tattoo artist @coreymillertattoo, this tattoo. A salute to my friend and inspiration Mr. Lemmy Kilmister. Without him, there would be No Metallica.”

He continued, “Black ink mixed with a pinch of his cremation ashes that were so graciously given to me. So now, he is still able to fly the bird at the world.”

The iron cross and the spade are iconography closely associated with Lemmy and Motörhead.

A new graphic novel chronicling the life and times of Lemmy Kilmister and Motörhead is set to arrive this summer via Z2 Comics. A first look at the cover art can be seen below.

Presented in an oral history format, No Remorse: The Illustrated True Stories of Lemmy Kilmister and Motörhead features contributions from rock icons such as Dave Grohl (who wrote the foreword), Ozzy Osbourne (who penned the afterword), Slash, Lars Ulrich, Lita Ford, Chrissie Hynde, Dee Snider, and Dave Navarro, among others. Plus, Lemmy’s bandmates Phil Campbell, Mickey Dee, and Slim Jim Phantom are also included.

Other notable contributors include Neil Gaiman, Michael Moorcock, pro-wrestlers Triple H and Corey Graves, Matt Pinfield, Penelope Spheeris, and Riki Rachtman.

In all, 25 individuals were paired with 25 artists, recounting stories about their personal encounters with the late Motörhead legend. Illustrators include Dave Chisholm, Bob Fingerman, Jay Jay Jackson, and Jim Mahfood.

The ashes of the late Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister are being enshrined at one of his favorite Sunset Strip haunts: the iconic Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood.

A ceremony is set for April 19th at 9 p.m. Pt, with the Rainbow also inviting fans and attendees to “raise a very unique toast to Lemmy and Motörhead with the unveiling of brand new Motörhead Whiskey” via a Facebook post.

When he wasn’t on tour, Lemmy was a daily regular at the Rainbow and could often be found playing the video poker machine at the bar. The Rainbow would eventually dedicate its patio to the Motörhead leader, re-naming it “Lemmy’s Lounge.” A life-size bronze statue of Lemmy also resides on the patio, and in turn, the neighboring Roxy had a mural of him painted on the wall opposite the patio and statue.

London-born musician, Slash, gained world-wide recognition as the lead guitarist of rock group, ‘Guns N Roses’ in the late 1980s to early 1990s. Whilst in the band, he created the side-group ’Slash’s Snakepit’ which although did not gain much mainstream attention, received critical acclaim.

He then co-founded the rock super-group ‘Velvet Revolver’ which re-established him as a mainstream artist in the mid to late 2000s.

In 2010, Slash released his debut album ‘Slash’, which rose to #3 in the US Album Chart following its release in April 2010. The album featured many of Slash’s musical friends, such as Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, and Iggy Pop.

A statue of the late Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister will be erected in his hometown of Burslem, which is part of the city of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England.

Plans for the 2.25-meter bronze sculpture have been approved, according to the BBC, despite police concerns that the statue could generate “good-natured but potentially incident generating attention” — namely revelers climbing the plinth to pose with Lemmy or causing vandalism. It will be located in Burslem’s Market Place.

Local sculptor Andy Edwards will be constructing the statue out of Staffordshire clay, having previously created sculptures of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor at Derby County Fc and The Beatles on Liverpool’s Pier Head. The ongoing Motörhead live recording series, The Löst Tapes, is being collected on a new eight-disc CD box set arriving February 23rd. In addition, a fifth volume in the series, Live at Donington Download Fest ’08, has been announced as part the box set and as a standalone vinyl release.

As the singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour, as well as solo artist, Corey Taylor has rubbed shoulders with many of his own personal heroes in the business. But his encounters with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and late Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister are among the most memorable.

In a new interview with Classic Rock magazine, the Slipknot frontman fanboy’d out on some of the famous rockstars he’s met over the years, most of which entail humorous — and in Lemmy’s case, downright raunchy — anecdotes.

Taylor had only met the Motörhead mastermind in passing prior to running into him in the kitchenette at the German headquarters of guitar company Gibson. As Taylor recounted, while the two were “smoking out of the window like high-schoolers, just being dicks,” Lemmy proceeded to tell what Taylor claims to be “one of the filthiest jokes” he’s ever heard in his life.

Bloody Disgusting has learned the sad news this week that Waxwork (1988) director Anthony Hickox, who was prolific in the ’80s and ’90s, has passed away at the age of 64 years old.

Deadline reports, “Hickox had spent his recent years in Romania, where police found him dead last week at his house in Bucharest after friends had reported not seeing him for some time, according to close friend and InterTalent Rights Group CEO Jonathan Shalit.”

In addition to Waxwork, a favorite among the staff here at Bloody Disgusting, Anthony Hickox also directed the film’s only sequel, Waxwork II: Lost in Time (1992).

Hickox also directed a slew of other horror movies around the same time, including the Bruce Campbell-starring Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat (1989), Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992), and Warlock: The Armageddon (1993), as well as the 1990s films Full Eclipse (1993), Payback (1995), Invasion of Privacy (1996), and Storm Catcher (1999).

After stating earlier this year that he and guitarist Phil Campbell — the remaining members of the band — would never tour under the Motörhead name again, Dee clarified his comments in a new interview with Chaoszine.

Although he said he will still continue to play Motörhead songs in other capacities, like his Mikkey Dee and Friends collective, performing as Motörhead with a replacement for late frontman Lemmy Kilmister is not an option.

“I said, ‘We will never, ever get back together and replace Lemmy. That’s impossible,'” said Dee, referring to his March interview. “I said, ‘But doing little constellations, doing some tribute stuff, that’s great.’ That’s very, very different. And I think [the press] said something, ‘Mikkey will never play Motörhead [songs] again.’ … I said that’s not what I said at all. Of course I will play Motörhead.

What started from a stolen car, a dead dog, and numerous headshots has now become a full-blown assassin universe. The Continental: From the World of John Wick is a prequel series to the global hit John Wick film franchise and it tells the origin story of Winston Scott from the main films. Set in the 1970s New York the Peacock mini-series shows us how Winston became the manager of the titular hotel which is a haven for assassins around the world.

While it doesn’t compare to the main John Wick film in any way The Continental has its own charms and action sequences that will surely be loved by the fans. The Continental is fully able to pull off a self-contained story with massive stakes and a brilliant character who will now be a part of the cannon forever.

Motörhead‘s 1983 album Another Perfect Day is receiving an expanded 40th anniversary reissue including rarities, demos, and a period-specific concert recording. “Climber,” the original demo for the album track “Shine,” can be heard now ahead of the collection’s November 3rd release date.

Another Perfect Day is somewhat of an outlier in the Motörhead canon in that it’s the band’s only album to feature ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian “Robbo” Robertson, who took over for Fast Eddie Clarke in 1982.

With the addition of Robertson, Motörhead took a more “musical” approach — in Lemmy Kilmister’s words — to Another Perfect Day. Rather than relying on flat-out speed and aggression as they had with Clarke, Lemmy and company hunkered down in the studio and crafted some of the most melodic and “produced” material to ever don the Motörhead name.

A major tribute to late Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister took place this week at the Wacken Open Air music festival in Germany. The festivities featured a parade, communal toasts, and an enshrinement of the rock icon’s ashes at Lemmy’s Bar in the village of Wacken, along with a surprise performance from surviving Motörhead members Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee.

Campbell and Dee first participated in a parade featuring floats carrying hundreds of diehard Motörhead fans. The parade began at the festival site and went through the village of Wacken to Lemmy’s Bar. At the tavern, fans witnessed Campbell and Dee put Lemmy’s ashes — which are housed in a mini version of his custom urn — in a glass display next to his hat, boots, bass guitar, and Marshall stack.

Two of Motörhead’s surviving members, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee, participated in enshrining the ashes of the band’s late frontman, Lemmy Kilmister, in a ceremony at the Wacken Open Air heavy metal festival in Germany this week. The Continental: From the world of John Wick’ held its panel at the San Diego Comic Con (Sdcc) and showcased some intense footage giving us an idea about both its tone and action.

While the show will apparently have a somewhat lighter tone, audiences should not make the mistake that this will get McU-fied as it still contains plenty of amazing action, full of blood and gore. Set in the world of 1970’s New York City, the show will dive deeper into the franchise’s obscure criminal mythology, exploring both the origins of the eponymous hotel for assassins in New York, as well as how actor Ian McShane’s character Winston Scott became the proprietor of its New York branch.

Any rock fan who finds their nose constantly buried in a comic will find a match made in heaven with graphic novels based on real-life rock bands. Many tackle the sometimes-complicated origins of these iconic rock bands as well as describe the bands' trajectory. Meanwhile, other graphic novels focus on a band's classic album and either narrate the journey of the making of that album or interpret the songs using a comic book art style.

Given that rock music has always had a rebellious ethos, combining rock bands with the graphic novel form makes a lot of sense — due to comics' reputation in the twentieth century. Back when comics were first gaining popularity with America's youth, they were derided by the establishment, and many didn't even consider them literature. This is akin to the derision rock music got in its early years — as well as rock's clash with the establishment and status quo.

Motörhead‘s rare cover of the Metallica classic “Enter Sandman” has been unearthed for Motörhead Day — the annual “8th of May” celebration of the late Lemmy Kilmister and company.

The track hails from a 1998 Ecw Wrestling compilation and was relegated to that CD for nearly 25 years. The cover has now been made widely available on streaming services and YouTube with a new animated music video that offers a Motörhead spin on the concept of the original Metallica clip.

The cover is a faithful rendition and highlights just how influential Motörhead were to bands such as Metallica and modern heavy metal in general. Lemmy’s interpretation is convincing enough that one could imagine him penning “Enter Sandman” in some alternate reality.

Metallica and Motörhead were close during Lemmy’s lifetime, with the former even playing Lemmy’s 50th birthday in 1995, all dressed up as the man himself under the moniker “The Lemmys.

Dee Snider was recently dropped as a performer at the upcoming San Francisco Pride Parade & Celebration after he showed support for a controversial statement made by Kiss’ Paul Stanley about sex reassignment treatment for children. Now, the Twisted Sister frontman has issued a response, citing his long history of support for the Lgbtqia+ community.

After Stanley stated that “normalizing” sex reassignment for children has “turned it into a sad and dangerous fad,” Snider chimed in, “You know what? There was a time where I ‘felt pretty’ too. Glad my parents didn’t jump to any rash conclusions! Well said, @PaulStanleyLive.”

The first poster for The Continental has been released, teasing Peacock's bloody upcoming John Wick prequel show. The first John Wick became a surprise hit in 2014, and the franchise now includes 3 acclaimed and successful sequels, with two spinoffs also on the way. One of these spinoffs is The Continental, a show created by Greg Coolidge, Shawn Simmons, and Kirk Ward, that will serve as a prequel for Ian McShane's Winston character, to be played by Colin Woodell.

The Continental's trailer hasn't yet been released, but a new poster provides a bloody first look at the highly-anticipated Peacock John Wick spinoff.

The elevator button panel in the poster, as featured above, shows the ninth-floor button highlighted, possibly a confirmation that The Continental's reported September release date is accurate.
