Cameras have started rolling in Normandy on Max’s new French series Merteuil, starring Anamaria Vartolomei, Diane Kruger, Vincent Lacoste, and Lucas Bravo.

Jessica Palud (Being Maria) directs the series which will shoot until December in what Max has described as “grandiose and intimate settings, from the cliffs of Normandy to the châteaux of Ile-de-France.”

The series was written by Jean-Baptiste Delafon with producers including Nabi Productions and Felicita Films. Laura Benanti has exited Amazon’s “Cruel Intentions” adaptation due to a scheduling conflict, a representative for Benanti confirmed to TheWrap.

Benanti, who was slated to recur in a guest star role as Caroline’s mother, Claudia, is unable to move forward in production due a “scheduling conflict,” and told Variety, who first reported the news, that she is hopeful the adaptation’s team will find a “wonderful actress to play this role.”

Set in France in the late 18th century on the eve of the Revolution, Dangerous Liaisons takes us back to the youth of the iconic characters from the novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, made famous by Christopher Hampton's play and Stephen Frears's subsequent 1988 film.

This version of Dangerous Liaisons introduces us to Camille and Pascal, young lovers trying to break into the lush, decadent world of the aristocracy by any means necessary.

Alice Englert was recently seen as Nurse Dolly in Netflix's Ratched. Englert plays Camille, the woman at the center of it all.

Nicholas Denton has acted in countless theatre productions, as well as television and film, where he also writes and produces. Denton plays the driven, determined rake, Pascal.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is opening up about the Cruel Intentions reboot NBC passed on and why she’s grateful the pilot was not picked up to series.

The peacock network gave it a pilot order in February 2016 but announced in October of that same year that it was not moving forward with the show. Gellar had signed on to reprise her role of Kathryn Merteuil but ultimately felt the new take didn’t live up to the 1999 film.

“That was a whole crazy time,” she told the New York Times. “Nothing against NBC, but Cruel Intentions is straight streaming. On the first day, I was like, ‘This isn’t working.’ It’s just not a network show. And if it is a network show, it’s not my Cruel Intentions. So, I was actually grateful.”

The long-discussed NBC drama pilot, Cruel Intentions, is now set to move ahead with Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed for the cast. The actress will reportedly reprise the role she played in the 1999 film upon which the pilot is based, and which itself was based on Les Liaisons dangereuses, written by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos in 1782.

Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair reunited last night (May 28) for an unauthorised musical parody of their cult film Cruel Intentions.

The trio posed for several photos together as they caught the new adaptation at Rockwell Table & Stage in Los Angeles.

To extend an invitation to witness purported romance amongst elitists garnished with nothing more than an immeasurable trust fund and the preened hue of an Ivy League education would seem nearly impossible to enjoy, and, thus, Peter Glanz’s directorial debut, The Longest Weekend is a generous case in point.
