One of the big reasons I wanted to get into writing movies is because of Judd Apatow. His comedies are more than just funny – they’re heartfelt and genuine, with imperfect characters doing their best to get on with it. He helped popularize the “antihero” protagonist (Seth Rogan is a good example). Someone who’s not the brightest, not the most attractive, but their heart is in the right place… and they sure are funny. The prolific writer, producer, and director has a ton of hit movies to his name, but I want to give you my favorites. Here are the top 7 Judd Apatow comedies you can stream right now

Writer/director Michael Dougherty rose up through the Hollywood ranks authoring the scripts for multiple major blockbusters. He co-wrote the screenplay to "X2: X-Men United" and "Superman Returns" (both of which were directed by the now-disgraced Bryan Singer), and proved his horror chops with "Urban Legends: Bloody Mary," a straight-to-video threequel to the oh-yeah-i-remember-that slasher franchise from the late 1990s. Dougherty's directorial debut, the horror anthology "Trick 'r Treat," saw a slow release in 2007, but became a Halloween standard almost immediately thereafter. The man knows how to terrify audiences. His most recent film was the big-budget monster movie "Godzilla: King of the Monsters," the third film in the U.S. MonsterVerse series.

Exclusive: David Koechner (Anchorman) has been tapped for a major supporting role in Tender, a crime thriller from writer-director Adam Hoelzel (Beast of Burden), currently shooting in Los Angeles.

Specifics as to Koechner’s role are under wraps. A group of comedians are signing on for the latest Zoom call to benefit Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, with Ben Stiller, Jason Bateman, Cecily Strong and D.L. Hughley among those signed up to participate.

The Monday evening event, to start at 8 p.m. Et, was inspired by a series of virtual calls that have raised huge sums for the Harris campaign since it was launched on July 21. Will Ferrell reunited with his “Anchorman” co-star Christina Applegate on an episode of the latter’s “Messy” podcast, where the duo reflected on the 20th anniversary of their comedy classic. Ferrell remembered the first test screening for “Anchorman” and how it did not go according to plan.

“It was such a hard movie to get made in the first place and when it finally came around to when, ‘Oh wait, now Dreamworks wants to make it,’ it just felt like we were playing with the house’s money,” Ferrell said (via IndieWire). “So we were like, ‘Ok, gosh, they’re letting us make this crazy movie. During Steve Carrell’s appearance on Today, anchor Savannah Guthrie talked about many topics, including an iconic movie series.

Carrell has starred in countless popular and acclaimed films like Foxcatcher, Little Miss Sunshine, and The Big Short.

One of his recent roles is his return to voicing the villain Gru in the popular Despicable Me franchise, with the fourth film arriving in early July.

While Carrell discussed that on Today, Savannah mentioned another classic set of films: Anchorman and Anchorman 2.

A very happy 20th anniversary to Ron Burgundy and the Channel 4 news team in San Diego, with the news that Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy is celebrating its birthday. The 2004 movie, that starred Will Ferrell, Steve Carell (“loud noises”), Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd and David Koechner, remains a firm favourite, and gave Oscar-winning filmmaker Adam McKay his first hit as director too. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s comedy classic Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy turns 20 this summer. To celebrate, the movie has received a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release hitting shelves on July 2nd.

The anniversary set features two Blu-ray discs containing a remastered theatrical version of Anchorman in 4K Ultra HD, along with bonus content like cast auditions, deleted scenes, bloopers, and a music video for “Afternoon Delight.” Also included are an extended cut and the companion film Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie. The Office had its fair share of poorly written episodes, especially in the later seasons without Michael Scott. Fans love the show for its hilarious moments and lovable characters, but some episodes lacked the charm of earlier seasons. Despite its flaws, The Office remains a beloved sitcom with a nostalgic factor that keeps fans coming back for more.

Despite being one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time, the worst The Office episodes prove it was far from perfect. The mockumentary series had a rough start; its pilot season received several poor reviews from critics - many saying that it was just a loose Americanized reimagining of its original inspiration - and even came close to cancelation at one point. Paul Rudd discussed his role in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy in an interview with GQ, and the actor revealed some fascinating behind-the-scenes insights about the film. Anchorman, the 2004 comedy and theatrical debut of Academy Award-winning director Adam McKay, is perhaps the premiere 2000s comedy and a who's who of comedy legends. The subgenre of "Christmas movies" has been a curious one of late. Fans have been waiting 14 years for director Michael Dougherty to get around to making a sequel to his Halloween-themed horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat, but Dougherty has stayed busy as the years have gone by, making the Christmas-themed horror film Krampus, directing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and contributing to the scripts for X-Men: Apocalypse, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Recently, there have been indications that a Trick ‘r Treat 2 might finally be moving forward. Dougherty has even said the screenplay has been written. But while he pushes that sequel toward production, he has revealed to Collider that he has an idea for Krampus 2 as well.
