Hot horror author Philip Fracassi’s short story, Death, My Old Friend, has been optioned by director Christopher Riggert for his feature directing debut. Terms were not disclosed.

In Fracassi’s short story, a boy sparks an unlikely relationship with the personification of Death. As they grow older, and Death begins taking those closest to him, he is forced to question the sinister nature of their friendship.

Fracassi is the author of the award-winning story collection, Behold the Void, and his latest collection, Beneath a Pale Sky, was recently nominated for a Bram Stroker award. His upcoming novels include A Child Alone with Strangers (Skyhorse) and Gothic (Cemetery Dance).

He recently closed a two-book, six-figure deal with Tor Nightfire, an imprint of Macmillan, the first release of which will be the novel Boys in the Valley (Summer 2023).

As a screenwriter, Fracassi’s films have been distributed by Lifetime Movie Network and Disney Entertainment.

The last few months have boasted a fair amount of impressive album releases from various artists populating the Edm scene. From up-and-coming sensation Porter Robinson’s spellbinding debut Worlds, and deadmau5’s epic While (1<2), some of the most lauded names in the industry are peppering store shelves and iTunes carts with fresh new releases. Today, another of EDMs heavy-hitters joins the party, as raft-riding and cake-tossing DJ Steve Aoki’s sophomore studio album, Neon Future, sees its release.

After a successful crowdfunding campaign to give their production a bit more scale, they’re putting on a huge concert with Screeching Weasel headlining in a scene designed to bring the grown-up characters of the original film back together again. At 22 years old, Doe B was taken far too soon. After news broke that the Hustle Gang rapper had been shot and killed in Montgomery, Ala. on Dec. 28, rappers like Drake, T.I., Meek Mill, and many more flocked to Twitter to send out prayers and really just mourn.

The Oscar-nominated actress and rapper will feature in Gina Prince-Bythewood's TV film, reports The Wrap.

Grammy winner The Dream will provide four original songs for the soundtrack.

The film centres around struggling superstar musician Noni Jean (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who comes close to committing suicide.

She is saved by Kaz (Nate Parker), the cop who is assigned to her case and falls for the singer.

Driver will play Noni's mother and Kelly her label-mate Kid Culprit.

Good Will Hunting star Driver was most recently seen in I Give It a Year.

Minnie Driver and rapper Machine Gun Kelly have joined the cast of Gina Prince-Bythewood’s "Blackbird" at Relativity Media, Bet Networks and STATosphere Productions.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays Noni Jean, a hot new artist primed for superstardom. With fame and fortune comes extraordinary pressure, and Noni nearly takes her own life before she’s saved by Kaz (Nate Parker), a promising young cop assigned to her detail.

Driver will play Noni’s mother and manager. Kelly plays Kid Culprit, a rapper on Noni's label who she collaborates with before releasing her first solo album. Danny Glover also stars.

Musician 'The Dream' will pen and produce four original songs for the film. Amar’e Stoudemire, Ryan Kavanaugh, Stephanie Allain and Reggie Rock Bythewood will produce.

In anticipation of the big party, HuffPost Entertainment caught up with Fool's Gold's Nick Catchdubs and Dim Mak's Steve Aoki to get some insight into their plans for the weekend and find out what else the dance music maestros have up their sleeves. Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly gave a powerful tribute to Detroit's most famous rapper before his show on Tuesday night.

Kelly, who is signed to Bad Boy Records and Interscope Records, appeared on the front steps of St. Andrews Hall in downtown Detroit, along with two guitarists, to deliver a powerful acoustic rendition of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" (see above).

That single, released along with the Eminem biopic "8 Mile," has become a Motor City anthem.

St. Andrews, which also hosts the underground venue called The Shelter, is one of the venues where Eminem first made his name as a rapper.

The two hip-hop artists share a few similarities. Like Em, Machine Gun Kelly is a white rapper from a Midwest city going through some hard times. His rapid-fire delivery is similar to that of Marshall Mathers. In 2011, MTV named Kelly their breakthrough Mc of the year.

Austin, Texas — Machine Gun Kelly stole the night at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards.

The rapper won the Woodie of the year during the annual awards celebrating emerging artists at the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas.

Mgk led a run of wins by rap acts, including Earl Sweatshirt, who won the breaking Woodie. Danny Brown won the best video Woodie for "Grown Up" and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won the branching out Woodie for breaking ground in the social media field. Other winners include Kimbra with Mark Foster and A-Trak, The Weeknd and college band The Lonely Biscuits of Belmont University.

The awards were handed out Thursday during a concert in Austin that will be aired at 8 p.m. Edt Sunday on MTV and mtvU.

Before today, many people might never have heard of the rapper Machine Gun Kelly. In fact, some might not have even heard of Microsoft stores. But following what might prove to be an expensive debacle at an Atlanta, Ga., mall, chances are that the two entities will be forever linked, albeit in the footnotes of tech retail history.

Machine Gun Kelly played a raucous gig at the Microsoft store at Lenox Square Mall on Friday, but organizers got way more than they bargained for. During his performance of "Hold On (Shut up)," Mgk hopped up on display tables that had several laptop computers on them and began stomping around and swearing.

Warning: Strong language follows.

"Fuck these computers and shit. Mgk's in this bitch," the rapper says in the video below. While the behavior is nothing surprising at a rap show, it appears that the Microsoft store wasn't prepared for it.

Dmx, "Undisputed" (United Music Media Group)

It's been awhile since Dmx made headlines in terms of music. Instead, over the last few years, the once-great lyricist has been reduced to a tabloid target due to his many arrests, his drug issues and his disturbing appearances on reality TV.

"Undisputed," his first album of new material since 2006, likely won't change that. The rapper lacks the magic found on his previous efforts. His seventh release offers more misses than hits, and it seems as if the 41-year-old is past his prime.

Dmx's trademark growls, barks and ad-libs are found throughout the album. And for the most part, he still raps about his struggles overcoming his own self-inflicted mistakes as he prays for guidance.

But "I Don't Dance," the first single that features hip-hop newcomer Machine Gun Kelly, is one of the album's most lackluster pieces of work – by Dmx's standards. And there...

After its $155 million box-office opening, "The Hunger Games" pulled off the rare double-play by landing its soundtrack at the top of the Billboard 200 charts in the same week. "The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond," sold 175,000 last week, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

Machine Gun Kelly relishes the underdog role, but the Cleveland, Ohio, rapper racked up another serious win on Tuesday (March 20) when he dropped his Half Naked & Almost Famous Ep on Bad Boy Records. The five-song digital release marks Mgk's first major-label release and serves as a warm-up for his official debut LP.

Tracks like the riot-starting "Warning Shot" and the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League-produced and soul-bearing "See My Tears" help balance out the quick fix, but the Ep's anchor is its first single, "Wild Boy." Initially Mgk was skeptical about leading his charge with the Waka Flocka-assisted track, but Diddy talked him into it. "He was the one who encouraged 'Wild Boy,' he encouraged the whole thing.

The 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards aired on Sunday night highlighting performances from Santigold, Steve Aoki and the show's big winner, Mac Miller, who walked away with two trophies. The half-hour feature, shot in Austin, Texas during the South by Southwest festival was packed with entertainment.

The mtvU Woodie Awards will go down on Thursday in Austin, Texas, with entertainment from a lineup that includes Mac Miller, Santigold and many more. But one of the show's scheduled performers, Childish Gambino (a.k.a. Donald Glover), was forced to cancel his performance due to an injury.

Gambino, who was set to kick off his much-anticipated Camp Tour this Friday in Atlanta, fractured his foot during one of his shows over the weekend.
