Deadline reports that Netflix has announced the casting of 28 actors for the upcoming whodunnit mystery series Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole. The mystery’s plot is led by “famed anti-hero detective Harry Hole. Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers — and supposed colleagues — operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective, Tom Waaler. Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”
The series was previously reported to star Tobias Santelmann, Joel Kinnaman and Pia Tjelta. The series is now welcoming character actor Peter Stormare (Fargo) to the cast, as well as...

'Sea Gulls'
Sea gulls are homeless and weary, ceaselessly searching for food to subsist. They're the symbol for an uprooted existence in this World War I-era Scandinavian tale. Told with a furiously spare naturalism, ''Sea Gulls, '' which is screening as part of Women in Film and the American Film Institute's presentation ''A Festival of Women Directors.''
The film is a bleak portrayal of personal collapse and isolation, of personal spirits drained and lives cast adrift in a societal sea of cold, judgmental harshness. (It screens Saturday at 9 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. at the AFI.)
Focusing on the rock-bottom fall of a prosperous Norwegian ship broker Johannes (Helge Jordal), screenwriters Vibeke Lokkeberg and Terje Kristiansen delineate the awful emotional and financial reality of failing in a society as harshly unsympathetic as the Norway of 1915.
Even though Johannes' failure was precipitated by unscrupulous actions on the part of others, his plight and situation are severely judged, not only by his frigid fellowmen but by his wife, Anna (Vibeke Lokkeberg), a spoiled heiress whose capacity for compassion never extends beyond the dimension of self. Most resilient in this family downfall is Leda (Tonje K. Kristiansen), a radiant teen whose outlook and kindness is not affected by the sour, small spirits of those around her.
Co-writer-director Lokkeberg's solid visual cadence caringly delineates the awful escalation of personal tragedy when society's surroundings are as rock-hard and icy as the Norwegian emotion-scape portrayed here. In an environ as rigid and unfeeling as the Scandinavian society painted here, we witness the awful fracturing of the human spirit -- the wings of man, like the weary wings of the sea gull, do not soar but ceaselessly flap in repetitive survival pangs.
The players capably convey the pain and frustration of these taciturn, stoic people. Jordal's performance as the failed ship broker is a smart mold of hysteria forged from frustration, while Kristiansen as the elder daughter whose sweetness transcends her circumstances is captivating.
Cinematographer Paul Rene Roestad's alternatively tight and expansive framings convey the shackles that man puts on himself, even in locations of great majesty.
