Donald G. Ingalls

Was an LAPD press relations officer and part-time refrigerator salesman prior to becoming a television writer and producer.

He was a columnist for "The Valley Times" in North Hollywood, and was editor of "The Beat" magazine for the LAPD.

Served as a bomber pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Subsequently was a test pilot for North American Aviation, before joining the Los Angeles Police Department.

Personally, I think a good writer who understands his craft can write anything. I wrote a lot of comedy and I've written medical shows, lawyer shows and Westerns. I apply the same dramatic concepts to each area, no matter what the area is. In my 32 years in the business, I have never been unemployed. (from a 1992 interview)
