Last year, Final Destination 6 (which is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines) finally, after years of development and a thirteen year gap between sequels, made its way through production. Franchise producer Craig Perry previously let it be known that the film was aiming for a theatrical release in 2025 – in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. It will even be on IMAX screens! Last month, it was confirmed that Final Destination: Bloodlines is set to reach theatres on May 16, 2025. The project is still on track for that release date, as composer Tim Wynn has taken to social media to reveal that his work on the film is done – and in the process, he also revealed the title logo!

The studio also announced that they’ll be bringing Legendary Entertainment’s live action hybrid road movie Animal Friends to theatres on October 10, 2025. Unfortunately, Final Destination: Bloodlines could only secure its May release date because Warner Bros.

Exclusive: David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil), Ashley Greene (Twilight), and newcomer Samantha Cochran will topline The Cure, a horror thriller from director Nancy Leopardi that has wrapped production in Los Angeles.

Written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, who penned Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane, the film centers on Cochran’s Ally Braun, an adopted 16-year-old with a mysterious illness who learns her bio-tech billionaire parents (Dastmalchian and Greene) are harvesting her blood for nefarious purposes.

In a statement to Deadline, Leopardi called the film “a satirical take on the modern billionaire class cloaked in a crowd-pleasing thriller,” adding, “The Cure is made in the tradition of classic horror and sci-fi films that are inspired by terrifying socio-political realities and advances in bio-technology. Like Ex-Machina, A.I., and Videodrome I believe we are on the cusp of a revolution in science and the big question is – who will benefit?”

“Dead Money” is a thrilling story set in the high-stakes world of underground poker. It combines the suspense of gambling with the mystery of crime. The film, which came out in 2024, is about a professional poker player named Andy (Emile Hirsch) whose life becomes very dangerous after a fairly normal game in the back room goes wrong.

The film, written and directed by Josh Wilcox, examines the very thin line between taking a measured risk and being desperate. Walpole builds a story around Andy, a skilled but suffering poker player who is in a lot of debt and always looking for that one big win that will make everything better. When Jack’s (David Keith) home poker game is taken, Andy finds a chance that he didn’t expect, which starts a dangerous chain of events.

The film’s diverse cast gives this high-wire act of a story more depth.

Bau: Artist at War, a Holocaust feature that stars Emile Hirsch as real-life artist Joseph Bau, has landed a theatrical release for early next year.

The historical drama film from director Sean McNamara (Reagan) is set to hit theaters Jan. 24, 2025, with distribution from Showbiz Direct and Republic Pictures. Back in 2013, Hirsch was cast to portray the late comedian and “Saturday Night Live” star. However, the lack of funding led to the project falling apart.

Now, Hirsch is revealing the misguided advice he claims the director gave him before the film was even greenlit.

“I was a little bit torn [about signing on],” Hirsch said during THR‘s “It Happened in Hollywood” podcast. “I had a conversation with the director at one point, and he was talking about the weight gain. This is how stupid this guy was: He was like, ‘Just gain the weight and then we’ll make the movie.’”

Kale Culley, best known for his portrayal of August Walker on The CW’s Jared Padalecki-led Walker series, has signed with Lbi Entertainment for expanded representation.

The Texas actor played the son of Cordell Walker (Padalecki) over four seasons. As a child actor, Culley’s first gig was in 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain, the sports thriller that starred Josh Hartnett and Mira Sorvino.

That was followed by roles in the CBS family drama Me, Myself and I and working alongside director Matthew Weiner and Diane Lane in Amazon’s The Romanoffs. He also portrayed Little Will in Peel, opposite Emile Hirsch.

The couple will be honored at the nonprofit’s fourth annual gala, set to take place at the L.A. home of Ted Sarandos and Nicole Avant on Oct. 24. The Levys are longtime champions of the organization, which works to prevent homelessness by creating first homes and a community for youth aging out of the foster care system. Would you gain 100 pounds in the hopes of landing a role?

That was the career conundrum faced by Emile Hirsch, who joined THR‘s It Happened in Hollywood podcast to relive the making of his 2007 breakout film, Into the Wild.

But another film — a planned biopic of comedian John Belushi, in which Hirsch was chosen to play the early Saturday Night Live star — came up in conversation.

In 2013, Hirsch became attached to the lead role in the indie biopic. The funding never came together, and the project fell apart.

“I was a little bit torn [about signing on],” Hirsch, 39, recalls. “I had a conversation with the director at one point, and he was talking about the weight gain. This is how stupid this guy was: He was like, ‘Just gain the weight and then we’ll make the movie.’

“And I’m like, ‘Gain the weight and then we’ll make the movie?...

“All a good player wants is profit,” says Andy (Emile Hirsch) at the start of Luc Walpoth’s gritty little poker thriller. He explains, in voiceover, how it really all comes down to calculations, to maths – and, of course, the human factor. Opening in US cinemas this weekend, Dead Money is the latest film starring Emile Hirsch, whose combination of Hollywood hits and gutsy independent thrillers has won him an extensive fan following. Here, he plays Andy, a small time professional poker player who, together with girlfriend Chloe (India Eisley), finds himself in deep water after helping himself to a large sum of money belonging to a gang who stole from him. It’s a film which was personally interesting to the actor because, as he explains when he meet, he plays a bit of poker himself.

“I would say I had a loose interest in poker before the movie,” he says. “I was a terrible player. I would lose and just quit for years at a time. And so when I got the script, I was sort of like, ‘This could be a way to play again.

The Shudder streaming service and IFC Films, both of which are owned by AMC Networks, have secured a deal with boutique Blu-ray and DVD label Severin Films to put together eleven special edition physical media releases of some of the most popular Originals and licensed features in the Shudder and IFC Films library, Variety reports.

The announcement even reveals the titles of six of the eleven movies that will be receiving special edition physical media releases thanks to this deal: Joko Anwar’s 2017 horror mystery Satan’s Slaves (which was a remake of a 1980 film); Brandon Cronenberg’s 2012 feature directorial debut, the sci-fi horror film Antiviral; the 2015 Turkish horror film Baskin, directed by Can Evrenol; Franck Khalfoun’s 2012 Pov remake of the 1980 slasher classic Maniac; Douglas Buck’s 2006 remake of the 1972 Brian De Palma thriller Sisters; and André Øvredal’s 2016 horror thriller The Autopsy of Jane Doe.

Two works from the early queer literary canon will see audiobook release this June, narrated by actor Emile Hirsch.

Both were authored by Fritz Peters, an overlooked trailblazer in the 1950s who wrote frank and intimate depictions of homosexuality, spirituality and mental health struggles. The books are the novel “Finistère” and the memoir “Boyhood With Gurdjieff,” hitting audio platforms in time for global pride celebrations.

The recordings mark Hirsch’s first in the space, save voicing a character in “Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans,” the animated film from Guillermo del Toro. Known for films like “Into the Wild” and “Milk,” he will next appear in the holocaust film “‘Bau, Artist at War.”

Despite selling big in his time, Peters’ catalogue had fallen into relative obscurity compared to literati peers like Gore Vidal, Henry Miller and Eudora Welty. Production company Hirsch Giovanni acquired the author’s complete works two years ago and serve as re-release publishers.
