He was married to Dorothy Margaret Tyndale. He died on March 20, 1976 in Wimbledon, London, England, UK.

  • In World War 2 he was a prisoner of war in Germany from 1940-1945.
  • Committed suicide by leaping from a height while in hospital.

  • Received a leg wound and was captured in February 1940 at Dunkirk. Was even listed as killed in action for a while.
  • Specialised in playing quiet, but determined authority figures, particularly policemen, military officers, barristers and politicians.
