Once upon a time, an iconic children's show star told a cynical magazine writer, "You are my friend," and it became the inspiration for some movie magic. Starring Tom Hanks and Matthew Rhys, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood tells the story of the unlikely friendship that developed between Esquire journalist Tom Junod and the host of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Fred Rogers. Though assigned to write just a few hundred words on the beloved TV star in 1998 for a special issue on American heroes, Junod ended up writing an 8,000-word cover story titled "Can You Say . . . Hero?" that was way more than just a fluff piece.
Junod reveals little about himself in the November 1998 piece. In the forthcoming movie, he isn't even referred to by name - instead, Rhys plays a character inspired by Junod named Lloyd Vogel. However, in a recent article for The Atlantic, titled "What Would Mister Rogers Do?...

Showcasing the work of six playwrights and directed by Candis C. Jones, the festival, performed by a skillful cast to an enthusiastic packed house on the night that we attended, engages a range of topics and tones that nonetheless echo and resonate with one another, creating a whole that is intriguing, affecting, and entertaining right through the curtain call.

Read More: John Frankenheimer and Vittorio De Sica are Coming to Criterion Collection This March Christian Petzold's "Phoenix" earned some of last year's highest critical accolades when it opened over the summer, and it appears the Criterion Collection took notice, as it is bringing the German psycho-drama to its library this April. Check out all of the titles hitting Criterion this April below, with synopses and special addition information provided by the collection. There she meets a handsome yet aloof daredevil pilot, played by Cary Grant, who runs an airmail.

Incoming "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert was on "Howard Stern" this morning to discuss his new late-night gig, his career trajectory, his tragic family history, his infamous White House Correspondents stint and even Donald Trump, among numerous other things. Typical of a "Stern" sit-down, the interview was long and most importantly revealing, providing listeners a window into what makes the former "Colbert Report" host tick. Below I've rounded up the 19 most essential moments from the interview, from a discussion of his brief stint as a cast member on the doomed "Dana Carvey Show" in the mid '90s to what effect the tragic death of his father and two of his brothers had on his life and career. Check out the full roundup below. (Relevant clips included where available.) 1. Jim Carrey was supposed to play Ace in an "Ambiguously Gay Duo" live-action movie. Hollywood: a land for the rich, famous and notoriously plastic. It’s hardly shocking when actresses, models, TV personalities or singers change their eyes, breasts or bum in order to compete with their newer, younger competitors. In fact, it’s a necessity in Tinseltown to look your absolute best to get the most sought-after roles and record deals, and this fact has been accepted by literally everybody, from big-shot directors to the man on the street.
Yet, while many are open and honest about the work they’ve had done – without judgement in most cases (unless it’s gone spectacularly wrong) – others vehemently deny having had any work, despite evidence proving otherwise in plain view. Clearly, the pressure to maintain a certain level of beauty in the limelight can be quite intimidating and many either feel too proud or embarrassed to admit that they have turned to the scalpel for help.

It’s fair to say that in the 50 year history of World Wrestling Entertainment, they have done a lot for the professional wrestling business. While some may point at the negative things they have done, that’s not what we’re here for. Today it’s about the seven greatest innovations that WWE has given the wrestling business.
Vincent Kennedy McMahon, the Chairman of WWE, has a lot to be proud of in his career and these are just some of those things that wrestling fans associate with WWE.
Since it is such a broad topic there are a lot of things that could make a list like this one, so it’s important to remember that this is all about pointing out the things that are really important to wrestling fans and that we associate with WWE before anything else.

"The Flag," which premieres on CNN tonight, September 4th, at 9pm, serves as a softer counterpart to "9/11: The Falling Man," the 2006 documentary Henry Singer made about the search for the identity of the jumper in Richard Drew's iconic image from the World Trade Center. Drew's unforgettable photograph of a man plunging headfirst past rows of windows on a building that would later crumble was initially deemed too troubling when it appeared in news coverage following the attack, and "9/11: The Falling Man," which premiered on UK TV in 2006 before coming to the Us on what's now Investigation Discovery, carried with it that wounded sense of being a quest to seek out the name of someone who died horribly. "The Flag," directed by "Gunner Palace" filmmakers Petra Epperlein and Michael Tucker, is centered around an image that people were actually eager to embrace after the tragedy -- one shot by Thomas Franklin,...

Zacron, the visual artist known for his iconic album cover for Led Zeppelin's seminal 1970 album "III," has passed away after a battle with bowel cancer. The artist, whose real name was Richard Drew, quietly passed away in January, but according to Classic Rock Magazine, his estranged family only recently learned of his death.
"III" cover art by Zacron
Zacron was born in Sutton, Surrey in 1943, growing up alongside fellow classmates Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. After Page left the Yardbirds to found the now infamous English rock band Led Zeppelin, the two childhood friends reconnected in 1969 when Zacron was commissioned to create cover art for the band's album, "III." After four months of work, Zacron debuted his collage of a final product, featuring a die-cut design equipped with a rotating panel that would turn to reveal the various psychedelic illustrations created by the artist.
