Classic 1990s comedy chat show The Kumars is returning to television, here are the details.
In the 1990s, there were two shows which brought black British comedy into the mainstream. The first was The Real McCoy, a sketch show which launched the television careers of double acts Curtis Walker and Ishmael Thomas, and Llewella Gideon and Collette Johnson. Later series featured Robbie Gee, Eddie Nestor, Judith Jacob, Kulvinder Ghir, Meera Syal and the much missed Felix Dexter, amongst others.
The second series was sketch show Goodness Gracious Me, which premiered on the BBC in 1997. Taking an irreverent look at Asian-British experience, the series is probably best known for the now iconic ‘Going For An English’ sketch, which poked fun at the stereotypical British experience of going for a curry, but flipping races to an Indian family going out for bland English food.

Cleese and crew in 'secret talks', with a press conference imminent. Plus: is legendary comic Andy Kaufman really dead?
• Monty Python: five favourite sketches – video
This week's comedy news
The stars of Monty Python have announced a press conference this Thursday amid rumours of a reunion. They last worked as a team back in 1983, on the film The Meaning of Life. The Sun reports that the five surviving Pythons (John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, Eric Idle and Michael Palin) have spent months in "secret talks". Previous rumoured projects have come to nothing, with Idle once joking: "We would only do a reunion if [Graham] Chapman came back from the dead. So we're negotiating with his agent." The press conference is scheduled for midday 21 November at London's Playhouse Theatre. Meanwhile, as the British Comedy Guide report, ex-Pythons Palin and Jones have been filming new material together for the DVD release of...

BBC Two has announced plans for a tribute show about late comedian Felix Dexter.
Dexter, who was well loved for his roles on shows such as The Real McCoy and Citizen Khan, passed away last week aged 52. He had been suffering from multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer.
Fast Show creator and friend Paul Whitehouse said: "It's great that the BBC are showing this tribute to Felix. He was brilliant, funny and challenging and deserves to be remembered as such, even though he was a Gooner."
BBC comedy controller Mark Freeland said that the BBC was proud to be able to show the tribute, which would highlight "what a fantastic comedy actor he was".
Dexter rose to fame on the flagship '90s comedy series The Real McCoy before going on to appear in TV shows including The Fast Show, Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge and Absolutely Fabulous.

Sacha Baron Cohen's film joins Team America and The Producers in depicting despots as one-dimensional buffoons. But why are we obsessed with satirising tyrants – and is it right to find them funny?
Ever since His Excellency Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen, self-styled beloved oppressor and chief ophthalmologist of the People's Republic of Wadiya, inadvertently spilled Kim Jong-il's ashes over Ryan Seacrest's tux outside the Oscars, the world has had to deal with some pretty awkward questions.
What is it with our obsession with satirising dictators? Was Aristotle correct when he suggested that the right genre for dramatising bad men is comedy not tragedy, or should it be beneath us to find power-crazed nutjobs funny? Why can't Sacha Baron Cohen, who plays Aladeen (slogan: "Death To The West!") in the upcoming movie The Dictator, find some tougher targets? If it was wrong of the Sun to mock Roy Hodgson for his inability to pronounce rs,...

Ade (Adrian) Edmondson and the Eighties Super Group have won a place in next week’s Let’s Dance For Comic Relief final.
Ade wowed the judges and audience earlier in the night with his Dying Swan performance. The whole event was set off by a surprise visit from his old Bottom pal Rik Mayall who appeared just to bash him with a frying pan…judging by the huge bump Adrian is now sporting on his head, Rik may not be invited back next Saturday.
The Eighties Super Group found themselves fighting for a place in the final against ITV2 presenters Joe Swash and Carloine Flack, but they won the vote of judges Felix Dexter and Jo Brand and will get to perform their Greased Lightening routine again!
On hearing the results Chesney Hawkes admitted: “I’m totally shocked to be honest with you.”

Toyah Willcox, Clare Grogan, Chesney Hawkes and Limah closed tonight’s Let’s Dance For Comic Relief.
The former pop stars were performing as ‘Eighties super group’, which is weird because Hawkes biggest hit ‘The One And Only’ was released in 1991.
Tonight the four almost legends danced to Greased Lightening, with Chesney looking like the perfect T Bird.
Toyah was quite cringe-worthy and wish she had done a lot less thrusting and gyrating….as it was a little vomit inducing.
After the routine judge John Bishop said: “It was like seeing a dream in front of me. This is like I was 16 and someone had transported me to the best party.”
Felix Dexter added: “It was fantastic, coming from a group with a combined age of 211 it was brilliant.”
While Jo Brand raved: “Absolutely fab.”

Iain Lee was a last minute addition to the lineup of Let’s Dance For Comic Relief and in fact we only found out last night he was taking part.
The Absolute Radio DJ is also a British comedian and a TV presenter. He is best known as the former co-presenter of the comedy current affairs show The Eleven O’Clock Show on Channel 4.
Tonight Iain danced to Will Smith’s ‘Getting Jiggy With It’. He was dressed in very becoming white baggy trousers and the shiniest blue jacket we have ever seen….it reminded us of those awful nineties shell suits!
The routine was surprisingly good and the change to an Egyptian Pharaoh was a little unexpected but he really suited the look. We loved the constant dopey expression and along with Ade Edmondson we’d like to see Iain in the final!

Caroline Flack and Joe Swash were the second act to perform on tonight’s Let’s dance For Comic Relief.
The pair are best known as the hosts of ITV2′s I’m A Celebrity get Me Out Of Here Now and earlier today we revealed that the former Eastenders star just can’t keep his hands off the telly beauty!
The news was less of a shock when we found out that they would be performing to My Humps by Fergie.
Caroline looked Amazing and really put Joe to shame. She could actually move while Joe looked like my dad, at a family wedding. Flack’s skintight top left little to the imagination and would put money on her getting a Lot of calls from lads mags wanting to feature her tomorrow.
John Bishop quipped: “I am loving the polo neck, loving it! You were a cross between Torvill...

Marcus Brigstocke opened tonight’s Let’s dance For Comic Relief’s live show.
The English comedian and satirist has worked extensively in stand-up comedy, television, radio and most recently musical theatre. He is a regular on comedy panel shows but tonight, he was dressed in his best karate outfit and dancing to Carl Douglas’s Kung Fu Figthing.
He didn’t dress as a woman, so has little chance of making the final – however Marcus is possibly one of the most rhythmic contestants the show has ever seen and we just loved his cheeky little smile!
John Bishop said:
“That was staggering, fantastic, you’ve done the sale of silver pyjamas a massive bonus!”
Felix Dexter laughed:
“Kung Fu has an aggressive image but I like the choices that you made to make it quite camp and effeminate, it really moved me!”
While Jo Brand joked:
“Strangely your moustache...

Hollywood star Christian Slater has been forced to delay his British stage debut as he struggles to overcome a bout of chicken pox. The True Romance hunk, 34, was taken ill on Friday during rehearsals of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in London after his co- star Felix Dexter was diagnosed with the highly contagious disease. As Slater's illness continues, producers have pulled the opening night this Friday at Scotland's Edinburgh Festival, giving Slater more time to recover. The play's producer Nica Burns says, "We so hoped we would be able to make the first performance but poor Christian's chicken pox has simply been too virulent. In order to safeguard the rest of the run we are having to take the doctor's advice to let Christian recover for one more day. Randle P. McMurphy is an enormous part requiring great energy." After three weeks at the Assembly Rooms in the Scottish capital, the play were transfer to the West End's Gielgud Theatre.

Film director Lord Richard Attenborough has been honoured for his contribution to the fight against racism at the star-studded Emma Awards. The Bt Ethnic Multicultural Media Awards (Emmas), held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, celebrate the efforts of people in the media who promote cultural awareness. Lord Attenborough, formerly Richard Attenborough, was given the Lifetime Achievement Award for his anti-racism campaigning which included his 1987 film Cry Freedom, which brought the horrors of apartheid in South Africa to the world's attention. He also directed the 1982 classic Gandhi, starring Ben Kingsley. The event was hosted by comedians Richard Blackwood and Nina Wadia, who were both up for awards. Comedy show "Goodness Gracious Me", in which Wadia appears, picked up Best TV Entertainment production. Another of its stars, author and comedian Meera Syal, walked away with media personality of the year. Craig David, who controversially missed out on a Brit Award earlier this year , scooped the Best Music Act. In the public figure section, United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan won public figure of the year while best sporting personality was awarded to tennis ace Venus Williams. The acting world had a clutch of awards dedicated to it with Ally McBeal star Lucy Liu winning Best TV Actress and Michelle Yeoh gaining Best Film Actress for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The awards for the men went to Eddie Murphy for Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps and Felix Dexter for "The Prince Of Dalston."...
