She had several leading roles in the 1960's, among which she is best remembered for a brace of horror films, including The Haunting (1963), Witchcraft (1964), The Plague of the Zombies (1966) and Beast of Morocco (1968). Clare retired from acting in 1968 to raise a family.

Her paternal grandmother was a noted ballerina.
