Spoiler Alert: This review contains details of FX’s Impeachment: American Crime Story which debuts on September 7.
Ultimately David Geffen said it best and worst of Bill and Hillary Clinton: “Everybody in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it’s troubling.”
Debuting on September 7, FX’s Impeachment: American Crime Story is an indictment of those lies, their corresponding hypocrisies and the people often treated as cannon fodder by the ruthlessly ambitious First Couple.
Penned by playwright Sarah Burgess and based on Jeffrey Toobin’s 1999 book A Vast Conspiracy, the latest 10-episode installment of the Acs franchise executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson strives to keep the spotlight away from the Clintons. Instead, the focus is on the trials and tribulations of the once infamous Paula Jones, Linda Tripp and Monica Lewinsky, with the latter serving as a producer on the pandemic-delayed project.

When a story seems too hyperbolic or prescient to be true, we call it “stranger than fiction.” We marvel that “you couldn’t script” the kind of twists that make up our wildest tales, or else that no one would believe them for embodying every cliché they possibly could. The wisdom then becomes that “seeing is believing”: that the only real way to believe a supposedly unbelievable melodrama is to watch it unfold with your own eyes and feel your skepticism calcify into an understanding. Then, maybe, the story that once seemed unfathomable evolves into something more layered and recognizably real.
Such is the mission of “Impeachment: American Crime Story,” which follows in the footsteps of the FX anthology series’ previous installments (“The People v. O.J.” and “The Assassination of Gianni Versace”) by trying to recreate a national scandal by highlighting its most human elements. This chapter, steered by playwright Sarah Burgess,...

Caught somewhere in between Jurassic World and Star Wars Episode IX – American auteur Colin Trevorrow is releasing The Book of Henry, a film far more steeped in the real world, and yet equally as fantastical. To mark the release of the family drama, out in the UK on June 23rd, we had the pleasure of speaking to the man at the helm.
We asked Trevorrow about the changes made to this Gregg Hurwitz screenplay, which was originally crafted two decades ago. The director also speaks about how his own approach differed, compared to when he’s on the set of a huge blockbuster, and also on the tone of the film, and just how much of a challenge it was to get right.
Finally, and let’s face it, we couldn’t exactly help ourselves, we spoke about Star Wars, and what it means to him to be involved in such a treasured franchise, while he gives us an update as to when his work fully gets going. In the meantime however there’s the eagerly anticipated Jurassic World sequel, and while J.A. Bayone is on directing duties, he’s still working from a Trevorrow screenplay, and we asked whether that alleviates the pressure somewhat – and just how refreshing it is that he can leave the set and buy a bagel, and not have anyone notice.
Watch the full interview below…
Synopsis
Single mother Susan Carpenter works as a waitress alongside her feisty family friend Sheila. Taking care of everyone and everything in his own way is Susan’s older son Henry. Protective of his brother and a tireless supporter of his often self-doubting mother, Henry blazes through the days like a comet. When Susan discovers that the family next door harbours a dark secret, she’s surprised to learn that Henry has devised a plan to help the young daughter.
The Book of Henry is released on June 23rd

Jaeden Lieberher has worked with mega-celebrities like Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams, but even he isn’t immune to getting starstruck — especially when it comes to Jennifer Lopez.
Though The Book of Henry star wasn’t even born until a year after Lopez came onto the scene as “Jenny from the Block,” the young actor is still a big fan of the ssuperstar.
“The last time I was star struck was when I was at the Golden Globes and I saw J.Lo,” Lieberher, 14, tells People Now. “She was very beautiful.”

Question: How do you deal with a bad movie made with complete and utter sincerity? Answer: Better than you do with cynical product solely motivated by box office. The Book of Henry starts well, begins flirting with absurdity in the middle – and ends in crashing disaster. But the feeling persists that director Colin Treverrow believes every word in the shambles of a 20-year-old screenplay by crime novelist Gregg Hurwitz.

Prior to his signing on to direct Jurassic World, the reboot of the massively successful Jurassic Park franchise, Colin Trevorrow was known for a little indie flick called Safety Not Guaranteed. The film was your typical indie flick with a bit of a sci-fi twist, and it really showed his ability to tell a story. While Jurassic World made a whole boatload of money, there was a backlash to the film in terms of storytelling.
In the eyes of many who tried to give the film repeated viewings, the flick did not hold up very well when looked at too closely, and while it delivered on spectacle, it didn’t do much in terms of character. Many viewers haven’t let others forget this fact, but they may have forgotten that, as mentioned above, Trevorrow does have his beginnings in more character-focused fare. With his latest film, The Book of Henry,...

After a handful of indie directors were handed the keys to a major franchise, this year will see the release of a few films that find them headed back to more grounded territory. In between two such films from The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Marc Webb, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow will release The Book of Henry, and now the first trailer has landed.
Scripted by Gregg Hurwitz, the film follows two brothers and their adventures when they discover the family next door has a secret. Judging from this first trailer (and, certainly, first poster), Trevorrow is clearly once again influenced by Steven Spielberg, but hopefully this time it goes beyond basic homage. Starring Naomi Watts, Jaeden Lieberher, Jacob Tremblay, Sarah Silverman, Lee Pace, Maddie Ziegler, and Dean Norris, check out the trailer below.

A stuntwoman who says she was injured on the set of Justified during a late night shoot in 2011 today sued Sony Pictures and various individuals connected with the FX series. Citing “severe and permanent physical and mental injuries,” Lisa Hoyle and her husband Robert Jakubik have filed a suit (read it here) for Negligence, Premises Liability and Loss of Consortium for injuries the Stuntchicks employee suffered during a car crash stunt on February 3, 2011 at Santa Clarita Studios. While Hoyle and her husband don’t specify any dollar amount in their complaint, they are certainly looking for more than loose change. The nine-page filing seeks general damages “in an amount to be proven at trial” as well as loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, legal fees, “medical and related expenses” and “other and further general and special damages in a sum according to proof at the time of trial” and...
