A thoughtful character study about a young gay Anishinaabe teen at a crossroads in life, Adam Garnet Jones’ “Fire Song” explores the social dynamics of a First Nation reservation and the challenges of being gay within the community. The film stars Andrew Martin as Shane, a closeted kid forced to take care of his family after his sister commits suicide in their remote Northern Ontario Aboriginal community. Though he was supposed to move to the city for University in the fall, he’s torn between his responsibilities at home and the promise of freedom in the city. A copyright pirate in Australia has been ordered to pay Nintendo Aud$$1.5 million (£839,488) in damages after being caught illegally copying its software. James Burt was convicted of making illicit copies of Wii title New Super Mario Bros and uploading them on to the internet before the game's official Australian release date of November 6, 2009. After utilising "sophisticated technological forensics" to track down Burt, Nintendo obtained a Federal Court order on November 23 to search his Queensland home for corroborating evidence.
