“We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the firefighters and first responders who are risking their lives and tirelessly battling the wildfires in southern California. You are true heroes,” co-creator and star Max Thieriot says in the PSA video.

Because of the recent historic LA fires where thousands of people like Cameron Mathison lost their homes in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena, the national news stories revealed that convicts were helping the fire fighters battle the blazes.

Suddenly, there was a spotlight on the Max Thieriot-created series. Although CBS chose not to air the series in the midst of the worst of the fires, it is returning.

The tragic Los Angeles wildfires has put a spotlight on an unusual firefighting program in California. Moreover, there is a series that was created by Seal Team alum Max Thieriot called Fire Country.

Back in 2022, Thieriot spoke to Variety about how this CBS series came to be.

The “Fire Country” cast has come together to support the first responders who are helping with the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires and asking for viewers to do everything they can to help.

CBS has pulled Fire Country from its primetime schedule.

Due to the California fires, CBS wanted to show sensitivity to what had happened.

As Fire Country fans know, the show is about a local man trying to find redemption at his new job with Cal Fire.

Max Thieriot stars as Bode Leone (Donovan), with Billy Burke as his dad, Vince Leone, and Diane Farr as his mom Sharon.

Fire Country also features Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela Perez, Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez, Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford, and Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards.

The show often deals with California fires, frequently with those fires encroaching on residences and putting firefighters at risk.

In the latest report, four major fires in Southern California were burning out of control in the Pacific Palisades and Pasadena areas outside Los Angeles.

CBS sidelines Fire Country due to California fires

CBS has pulled the January 10 Fire Country episode.

CBS’ Fire Country would’ve hit too close to home this week. With that in mind, out of sensitivity to the devastation in the Los Angeles area and out of respect for the tens of thousands impacted by the massive Southern California fires, the scheduled repeat of the Northern California firefighter drama this Friday is being pulled. A rerun of NCIS: Sydney will air in its place. CBS’ Jan. 10 lineup will consist of NCIS: Sydney repeats at 8 Pm and 9 Pm, followed by a S.W.A.T. encore at 10 Pm.

There will be no change to NBC’s schedule tonight, with One Chicago returning after a holiday hiatus, including a new episode of Chicago Fire. It featured the debut of Jared Padalecki as Camden Casey, Bode Leone and Audrey James' new trainer for phase 3 of the cadet program. There was also a plane crash that left nearly 200 people stranded in town and in need of shelter--Station 42 and Smokey's Tavern served as temporary housing until the next flights out.

The episode had firefighting drama with Camden breaking protocol by letting Bode put out a fire in the plane's cockpit while standing on top of said plane, romantic tension with Gabriela acting out and trying to use Bode as a distraction, a family reconciliation between Eve and her brother Elijah, and an answer about whether Sharon's body is rejecting her transplant (it's not!).
