Sometimes it feels as though A.I. is already here, given the number of films resembling Garden State that pop up on the festival circuit every year. Robert Schwartzman’s The Good Half is only the latest, and his attempt to out-emo Zach Braff’s legacy film falls disappointingly short, given that his last Tribeca appearance was with the surreal and underrated comedy The Argument (2020), which channeled Charlie Kaufman in the story of a couple whose obsession with a petty fight spirals into absurdity. The Good Half, however, mostly serves as a decent vehicle for Nick Jonas, who seems to making a play to be the new Adam Driver, which is not as far-fetched as it might sound.

Like their unlikely namesake, the Zombies have had several lives since being formed by keyboardist Rod Argent and vocalist Colin Blunstone in St. Albans in Hertfordshire U.K. in the early 1960s. The first British Invasion act after the Beatles to score a chart-topping U.S. hit, with “She’s Not There,” the guys disbanded shortly before their 1968 soon-to-be-cult album, “Odessey and Oracle,” was released. That collection produced another stateside smash in “Time of the Season,” which Al Kooper belatedly convinced Columbia’s Clive Davis to put out.

Sixty years on from their formation, it’s finally the time of the season for British Invasion band The Zombies.

The iconic 1960s group will be the focus of a feature documentary entitled “Hung Up on a Dream,” directed by Utopia co-founder, Rooney frontman and “Dreamland” director Robert Schwartzman.

Principal photography has begun on the doc, which will chart the band’s 60-year career, which first started up in the suburb of St. Alban’s, just north of London. The doc will begin with the group’s formation by Rod Argent, Colin Blunstone, Chris White, Paul Atkinson and Hugh Grundy in the 1960s with hits such as “She’s Not There” and “Time Of The Season,” to their successful solo careers and eventual reunion and touring stints.

Radiohead, Janet Jackson, and Stevie Nicks are among the new class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame made it official: Radiohead, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard, The Cure, Roxy Music, and the Zombies are part of the 2019 inductee class.

The Cleveland-based Hall of Fame will host its induction ceremony at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 29th. HBO and SiriusXM will air edited versions of the ceremony at a later date.

Stevie Nicks becomes the first woman to be twice inducted into the Rock Hall. She was previously honored in 1998 as a member of Fleetwood Mac. Nicks’ 1981 solo debut, “Bella Donna,” yielded four hit singles, including “Edge of Seventeen.” Nicks released eight solo albums in her career, earning eight Grammy nominations.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year’s inductees: Radiohead, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard, The Cure, Roxy Music and the Zombies will all join the class of 2019.

The induction ceremony will be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on March 29th. An edited version of the event will air later on HBO alongside a SiriusXM radio broadcast. Ticket details will be announced in January.

In 2006, before I started The Playlist film blog, out of boredom I began what I called the The Playlist Soundtrack Series. A sort of "If I Were _______ (insert filmmaker's name here)" type thing. According to research by Davis, Calif., pop music authors Marti Smiley Childs and Jeff March, disbanded bandmates of the past have ended up in everything from landscaping to auto repair. Who knows, the mechanic who tunes up your car may have once tuned up before thousands of screaming fans at the Hollywood Bowl or Madison Square Garden.

The authors documented career changes in the lives of dozens of musicians from hit bands of the 1960s for their latest book, "Where Have All the Pop Stars Gone?".

Childs and March found many of these musicians moved on to such widely divergent fields as financial services, manufacturing, agriculture, retail, and yes, construction and health care.

It's been 50 years since they first started, but it seems that 2011 is the year of the Zombies as they've scheduled a 12-date (so far) Us tour starting and ending in Pennsylvania with two back-to-back concerts in New York City as the second and third to last shows. As with any long dormant band, the question always arises as to which of the original members are the ones flying the Zombies banner. In this case, founding members Rod Argent and singer Colin Blunstone are the recognizable faces in the group, and guitarist Tom Toomey, bassist, Jim Rodford and his son, drummer Steve Rodford, who rounded out The Zombies you hear on the new album Breathe Out, Breathe In.

The album, recorded over a year in Argent’s own Red House Studios, hit shelves on May 17th of this year. We've included the initial tour dates for The Zombies and their supporting group The Acoustic Strawbs below.
