If there’s a Plot Twist Hall of Fame, Dan Fogelman might’ve just earned himself entry.
Fogelman is the creator of Hulu’s Paradise, a drama positioned as a murder mystery involving the president of the United States and the head of his Secret Service detail. Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us) plays the agent, James Marsden (Jury Duty) is the commander-in-chief, and the cast includes heavy hitters like Julianne Nicholson (Mare of Easttown), Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life) and Gerald McRaney (NCIS: Los Angeles).

‘Paradise’ Gets Surprise Early Episode 1 Drop Ahead Of Sterling K. Brown Thriller’s Premiere On Hulu
Hulu has made the first episode of its new drama series Paradise available on the platform. The surprise drop comes two days before the thriller, which reunites This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman and star Sterling K. Brown, was supposed to premiere with the first three episodes. Episodes 2 and 3 will still debut on Hulu Jan. 28 as scheduled.
The reviews for Paradise are already out and have been largely positive, which may have encouraged the early release. What’s more, Episode 1 ends with one of the series’ many jaw-dropping twists, so the hope is likely that the cliffhanger would hook viewers in.
The official logline reflects only one side of the genre-mixing drama: “Paradise is set in a serene, wealthy community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high stakes investigation unfolds.”

The writer and producer Dan Fogelman has a CV that spans genres, from a script credit on Pixar’s 2006 movie “Cars” to creating the musical fantasy series “Galavant.” But Fogelman is best known for “This Is Us,” the NBC hit that spent six seasons applying a twisty structure to a sentimental family drama. This unorthodox formula won a large and loyal audience, but to this critic, it was always a mismatch — hiding pertinent information in the name of cheap surprise.
With his latest series, the Hulu thriller “Paradise,” Fogelman pivots to a register where Omg-inducing water cooler moments feel much more at home. “Paradise” still retains elements of the “This Is Us” ethos, beginning with star Sterling K. Brown. After breaking out as adult adoptee Randall Pearson, Brown now plays Xavier Collins, a Secret Service agent plunged into a world of secrets and conspiracy after the murder of President Cal...

“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is a movie directed by Jeff Fowler starring Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Alyla Browne, Lee Majdoub, and -of course- the Sega characters.
The blue blur is back on the big screen in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”, the latest installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise. Building on the success of its predecessors, this third entry amps up the action, humor, and spectacle to deliver a high-energy adventure that will satisfy longtime fans and newcomers alike.
From the opening scenes, it’s clear that “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” has taken the franchise to new heights. The animation is nothing short of spectacular, with Sonic and his friends zipping through beautifully rendered environments at breakneck speeds. The film’s pacing matches its protagonist’s velocity, rarely letting up as it careens from one set piece to the next. This frenetic energy might be overwhelming for some, but...

Watching Hulu’s new thriller Paradise is a bit like eating a hot fudge sundae served on top of a chocolate cake: It’s a little messy and almost too much at times… but it’s hard to deny that it’s pretty damn delicious, too.
Sterling K. Brown reteams with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman for an intricately crafted, compellingly told puzzle-box mystery packed with twists… including a big one that changes everything. The pieces of the puzzle don’t always fit together perfectly, and there’s always the fear that a show like this will fall apart before delivering on its promise.

During the interview, James told a story about meeting a friend’s fiancee and being told a story that might shock you.

“I don’t even know if I should tell this story. But I was at a Hollywood event, I brought my son with me, and I ran into a friend of mine and his, at the time, fiancée,” James said.
James continued, “She’d had a couple of drinks and she turned to me — he was standing over here, but not really listening. She goes, ‘I have a confession.’ And I said, ‘Uh-oh. Can my son hear this?’ He’s 18, but whatever. She goes, ‘The...

[Warning: Because this review cannot and will not spoil key twists from Hulu’s new drama, Paradise, I will instead spoil key twists from Apple TV+’s Sugar. Skip the first paragraph if you don’t want Sugar spoiled for you.]
In Sugar, which premiered last April, Colin Farrell plays a movie-loving Los Angeles private investigator who is also — final spoiler warning — an alien. The twist, revealed in the sixth of eight episodes, isn’t a deviation from the established premise or a reversal of expectations — it’s the literal premise of the show, an enticing hook that becomes frustrating because the series spends six episodes teasing and hinting before revealing why you were supposed to be caring about what is otherwise a fairly perfunctory mystery.
I liked Farrell’s just-slightly-off-kilter performance, and the premise of the show, once revealed, was worthy of attention. But I’m looking forward to a second season in which Sugar can just be the show that it is,...

The upcoming Hulu thriller Paradise is about to get a network streaming debut! Find out when and where!
Usually, streaming shows and network shows are pretty separate and rarely mix even if the same company owns the channels. That’s what makes it notable when a streaming show will have a big premiere on networks as well.
That’s the case with Paradise as Variety reports that the new thriller, which will debut on Hulu on Tuesday, Jan. 28, will also get a network release as well. The first three episodes of the series will first premiere on Hulu on that day.
Then, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, the series premiere will broadcast on ABC at 10/9c. Following that, on Saturday, Feb. 1, the premiere will air on FX at 10/9c. After that, new episodes will drop only on Hulu.

From a classroom labeled Political Thriller 101, the series premiere of Hulu’s latest “Paradise” covers, almost entirely, a setup extracted from a grab bag of genre contemporaries encompassing the past century or so; when Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) enters the bedroom of United States President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) on an otherwise beautiful morning, the immediate discovery of Bradford‘s apparent murder kicks off a short-lived investigation prior to a complete lockdown of the premises as both Collins‘ team and the President’s inner circle attempt to ascertain what may have happened.

Plot: Set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs, and a high-stakes investigation unfolds.
Review: You are not prepared for Paradise. Sure, the trailers make it out to be a somewhat run-of-the-mill political thriller about the murder of the President of the United States and his most trusted protector, who may be involved in a massive conspiracy. Still, it is so much more than that. Built as a serial drama with a fantastic ensemble cast, Paradise draws structurally from series like Lost and Yellowjackets by combining a contemporary timeline with flashbacks that fill in the gaps of how the characters got to where they are today but also manages to upend the conventions of what we expect from a series like this. Having seen the entire series (except for the finale), I have a lot of thoughts about Paradise,...

“Paradise,” Hulu’s latest thriller series, isn’t quite heaven on earth. You may want to tune in for powerhouse performances from the likes of Sterling K. Brown, or to see what emotional devastation “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman has up his sleeves this time. But the show suffers from trying to be a bunch of other things oversaturated in our television landscape: A murder mystery, a conspiracy thriller and a high concept sci-fi twist critics have been asked not to spoil.
In the seven of eight episodes provided to critics, we primarily follow Agent Xavier Collins as head of the Secret Service when he stumbles upon the dead body of President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) at his residence in a suspiciously picture-perfect neighborhood. The pilot is propulsive as we flash between Collins’s attempt to gather as much evidence as he can before reporting the incident and their...

After the success of This is Us for NBC, it was undeniable that showrunner Dan Fogelman would have carte blanche on his next series. Taking another swing with his superstar collaborator, Sterling K. Brown, Fogelman hopes to repeat that success with Paradise. The new Hulu drama lands with mystery and Rated R content, giving Fogelman’s writing team more wiggle room than his last project. However, while Brown and the cast around him elevate their material, there’s a hollowness the show never fully overcomes.
Paradise Plot
After a shooter tries to kill the President (James Marsden), Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (Brown) is read in on national secrets. Afterward, the President is murdered in cold blood. Collins and the other secret service agents try to investigate the assassination, but they’re thwarted at every turn. Meanwhile, billionaires led by “Sinatra” (Julianne Nicholson) continue covert actions. As the mystery begins to unspool,...

Sterling K. Brown is done crying every week.
Two days before Thanksgiving, Brown is sitting at a long table in a photo studio in Culver City, digging into a take-out lunch as he begins to break down the plot of his new Hulu drama series, “Paradise.”
Brown chooses his words deliberately while simultaneously ramping up his energy to match his passion for the subject. It’s a significant departure from “This Is Us,” the NBC family drama that made Brown a star as fan-favorite character Randall Pearson, and was known for giving audiences a good weep. Though “Paradise” hails from the same creator and executive producer, Dan Fogelman, this series aims to provoke very different emotions in viewers. It’s a contemporary political thriller with a twisty plot. At times, it’s downright terrifying.

Disney is throwing the full weight of its portfolio of platforms behind Sterling K. Brown and “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman’s new Hulu series “Paradise” by giving the political thriller a linear launch on ABC and FX, as well.
The new series, which marks Brown’s splashy return as a TV series regular following the end of Fogelman’s hit NBC family drama in 2022, will debut its first three episodes on Hulu on Jan. 28. Then the first episode only will be broadcast on ABC on Jan. 29 at 10 p.m., followed by an airing on FX on Feb. 1 at 10 p.m.
From there, the eight-episode first season of “Paradise” will continue to roll out its new episodes weekly on Hulu.
This sampling method for the “Paradise” premiere is an unprecedented one for Disney, which has never before offered up the first episode of a new streaming series at this scale at launch.

I should probably stop being surprised that the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has become so successful, especially after the third film has pushed the series over the billion-dollar mark. Paramount is keen to keep the little blue speedster and his pals around a little longer, as they’ve officially slated Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for a March 19, 2027 release.
The post-credit scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 did give fans a hint as to where the franchise will go next, but the fourth installment is still in the early stages with no director or star attachments at the moment. Jeff Fowler helmed the first three movies, so it stands to reason that he’ll be back for Sonic 4, but you never know.
Jim Carrey, who plays Dr. Ivo Robotnik in the franchise, has even expressed a willingness to return for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 if they have a good reason to do it.

The fourth movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is set to speed into theaters on March 19, 2027.
Paramount Pictures, which announced the news Tuesday, had long been eyeing a spring 2027 release for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, the latest installment in the film series that is based on the popular Sega video game.
The news comes just days after Sonic the Hedgehog 3 became the top-grossing title in the franchise, with more than $422 million in ticket sales at the global box office. That’s a great feat for the threequel, which added Keanu Reeves in the role of Shadow.
Not only that, Paramount revealed Tuesday that Sonic 3 has generated more than $180 million in global consumer spending from home entertainment rentals and purchases. Studios generally refrain from divulging home entertainment numbers.
In a separate milestone, the Sonic franchise has surpassed $1 billion in box office to date.

Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise director Jeff Fowler has opened up on the decision to only slightly adapt one of the most iconic video game sequences. The Sonic movie franchise began with 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog, which starred James Marsden, Jim Carrey, and Ben Schwartz in the titular voice role. The film was a box office success, grossing over $320 million, and spawned two sequels, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and another sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, is set for a 2027 release.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Fowler detailed the approach he took to recreating the video games' iconic G.U.N. truck chase scene, in which Sonic is chased through the streets by an enormous truck sporting blades. He explained how he chose to flirt with the imagery without ever fully committing to it, but recognized the scene's important and iconic nature. Check out his full comment below:

Director Jeff Fowler recently unpacked the emotional final scene between Dr. Robotnik and Agent Stone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Throughout the video game adaptation series, Jim Carrey has cleverly embodied the role of the eccentric and evil scientist Dr. Ivo Robotnik, whose primary goal is to overcome Sonic and his friends in order to dominate the world. In Sonic 3, Carrey doubled down on his over-the-top comedy style by also playing Gerald Robotnik, Ivo’s grandfather. Throughout the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Carrey's Robotnik was never without his loyal assistant Stone, played by Lee Majdoub.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has been widely hailed as the best instalment in the trilogy, though some newly revealed concept art hints at a movie that's arguably even grander in scale than the one fans watched in theaters last month.
There are lots of sequences showcased here that either weren't in the final cut or changed significantly. Why? It likely comes down to practical reasons like the movie's budget; however, by far the biggest talking point is what appears to be a glimpse at an alternate timeline with Eggman ruling over Earth alongside Metal Sonic.
In Sonic the Hedgehog 3's post-credits scene, we were introduced to Amy Rose and chances are we'll get to visit a version of that twisted future in the already-confirmed fourth instalment. We're also not exactly shocked that Dr. Robotnik will likely live to fight another day after his apparent demise.

A deleted scene from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 reveals that Ivo Robotnik is a live-streamer. The story of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 follows Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, who take on Shadow, Ivo, and his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. The cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 includes Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter. Carrey's cartoonish Ivo Robotnik has always been a standout villain in the Sonic movies, but he perhaps gets his best storyline yet in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3's Colleen O'Shaughnesssey speaks about whether the Sonic team is likely to make a franchise movie without any of the human characters. All at once a prince and a criminal, there are few roles James Marsden isn't perfect for. The charming everyman has dazzled audiences for over three decades and in over 80 film and television projects, ranging broadly in genre from experimental comedies and dark satires to indie science fiction stories and comic book blockbusters.
As of writing, Marsden's biggest contemporary projects are the films in the "Sonic the Hedgehog" franchise, in which he plays one of few human characters alongside Jim Carrey, opposite the voices of Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, and, most recently, Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog. But before he was chasing gold rings across dimensions, Marsden was already an unmissable star of screens big and small, so we've ranked his 12 best TV shows and movies, taking into account their overall quality, how they showcased his talent, and their impact on popular culture at large.

Uri, which completes six years in January 11, brings the blood of cross-border tension to a boil but avoids a spillover. There is a rush of patriotic pride in the product—and why should there not be?—but it is reined in, curbed, and never allowed to spill over in a gush of irrepressible jingoism. If you want to see soldiers dancing around a bonfire, singing about how much they love their country and how much they miss their loved ones, then you’ve got the wrong war film.
Yes, these soldiers love their country. But family comes first. And when Vihaan’s brother-in-law is killed in a vivid recreation of that real-life murderous attack at the Uri army base, Vihaan channels his personal loss to seek revenge on behalf of the country. It may not be the most patriotic of purposes. But it gives a certain disingenuous believability to the mission.

There’s a reason we keep coming back to the heist movie genre, again and again and again. That’s because although most movies would have you believe that committing crimes is bad, we can’t help but respect a character who does it well. There’s no shortage of classic heist movies, but with income inequality on our minds, and billionaires actively destroying everything decent about this planet every single day, the genre seems particularly alluring in the 21st century. Maybe that’s why we’ve had so many classic...

Idris Elba’s best movies and TV shows highlight the amazing career of this charismatic and commanding actor who has appeared in iconic projects on the big and small screen. Born in London, England, Elba started his acting career in the mid-1990s but it was not until landing his role as Stringer Bell in the acclaimed crime series The Wire that his career took off, leading to a number of Hollywood projects as well as his leading role in the BBC thriller Luther.
Elba has shown his talents for playing the likable hero, the intimidating villain, and has even shown off his comedic skills at times. He has worked for directors like Ridley Scott and Guillermo Del Toro and has shared the screen with stars like Denzel Washington and Kate Winslet. However, the best movies and television shows that truly showcase his talents suggest that Elba still has a long and exciting career ahead.
