A couple months ago, Billy Corgan told Howie Mandel that comedian Bill Burr could very well be his half-brother. With Burr as the latest guest on his podcast, Mandel surprised the funnyman with a visit from the Smashing Pumpkins frontman — leading to a meeting of the two Bills.
On the November episode, Mandel’s production team erroneously put up a photo of Burr during Corgan’s turn on the podcast, leading the alt-rock legend to disclose that he may be related to his celebrity look-alike.
“Most of my friends don’t even know this story,” began Corgan. “About 10 years ago, one of my brothers was having a birthday party, and my stepmother was there, who was obviously married to my father. And my stepmother said to me, ‘Do you know who Bill Burr is?’ Now at that point, I had never heard of Bill Burr; I didn’t know who he was.

Heidi Klum is booked and busy, which has America’s Got Talent fans worried she’s leaving the show.
The NBC show has a hit formula with Heidi, Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara as judges.
AGT has become a summer staple on NBC, and Heidi has been a big part of it for over 10 years.
The supermodel joined the show in 2013 for Season 8 but did miss out on Season 14 because of other projects.
Other projects have AGT fans convinced Heidi is taking another break from the competition series.
However, fans are certain Heidi won’t be back on America’s Got Talent this time.
America’s Got Talent fans think Heidi Klum is leaving after Project Runway news
Earlier this month, news broke that Heidi was returning to Project Runway after an eight-year hiatus.
After Heidi’s latest gig was revealed, a Reddit thread was on fire with fans speculating her future on AGT.

Heidi Klum has served as a judge on America’s Got Talent for over ten years, but fans believe she could be leaving the NBC competition series following her return to Project Runway. The German model and businesswoman currently serves as a judge alongside Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara, having joined the show in 2013 for the eighth season. With the exception of 2019, Klum has appeared as a judge on the reality show every year since. However, many AGT fans are convinced she won’t be back for Season 20 when it returns to NBC this summer after she dropped a series of “clues.” Earlier this month, it was announced that Klum would be returning to host Project Runway after an eight-year hiatus. Klum previously hosted the fashion-focused reality series from 2004 to 2017, first on Bravo and later on Lifetime. After the show took a pause in 2018, it returned to Bravo in...

Hollywood has demonstrated time and again that studios will stop at nothing to construct a franchise around a successful film. If an idea works, it's frivolous to waste time and effort trying to make something novel. It's much easier to explore new avenues within a pre-existing story than to create a new one altogether. Thus, the industry typically pours its resources into these projects. Unsurprisingly, many movie sequels coming in 2025 boast the highest budgets of any other titles.
Even the large majority of the highest-grossing movies of all time are sequels. The bottom line is that these films make money, but they still need to maintain a degree of innovation. Typically, there is already a set path for the story. A franchise like the Infinity Saga particularly benefited from this quality. Other times, all that's necessary is a new character or conflict. On the rarest of occasions, a sequel will...

Horror fans and critics can usually predict when a movie is going to bomb at the box office. Even with a star-studded cast, like Scream 4, some horror movies are doomed from the beginning. Most of the time, movies that tank at the box office are unwanted sequels or movies that are only loved by niche horror audiences.
Horror sequels and remakes already tend to be risky movies at the box office because not all audiences resonate with their originals or only enjoyed the movie subsequently. Some box office bombs later became fan favorites in the eyes of horror fans. House of Wax grossed over $32 million domestically with a $40 million budget but is considered a campy, classic horror movie. It can take some time for horror movies to resonate with audiences, but some horror movies were doomed from the beginning.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Harley Quinn season 5, episode 1Harley Quinn season 5 might not have been talked about much before its release due to the focus on James Gunn's DC Universe, but I have to say it will likely turn heads. I'm a fan of the show and the expanded universe it has created, which now includes a Kite Man spinoff series. That kind of worldbuilding, presenting a lived-in world from the start full of established heroes and villains, is exactly what Gunn is going for with the Dcu, and Harley Quinn could teach the franchise some lessons.
Harley Quinn is a 2019 film focusing on the titular character's evolution after severing ties with the Joker. As she seeks to establish herself as an independent force in Gotham City's criminal underworld, the film explores her journey toward becoming Gotham's criminal Queenpin.

What’s better than one cutthroat reality TV star competing on an exotic island for millions of dollars? How about three! Season 2 of NBC’s Deal or No Deal Island finds the winners of Big Brother 2 (Will Kirby), Survivor: Micronesia (Parvati Shallow), and Australian Survivor: All Stars (David Genat) duking it out against 11 other contestants for the chance of facing off against the Banker for untold amounts of money.
Returning for the second cycle of Deal or No Deal Island are host/executive producer Joe Manganiello, briefcase models/Banker’s assistants Kamari Love and Ben Crofchick, and executive producer Howie Mandel. Note that Howie also popped up as the Banker during the Season 1 finale, but this year, there will be a female Banker for the first time.

No, Beyoncé is not the new Banker on Deal or No Deal Island — let’s make that clear right up front.
For the first time since the Deal or No Deal franchise was created 20 years ago, however, the Banker is in fact a “she.” And the contestants on Season 2 of Deal or No Deal Island couldn’t be happier. Host Joe Manganiello, who calls himself the “ultimate game master,” revealed the female Banker twist at the end of the season premiere, which aired Jan. 7 on NBC and Peacock.
To recap, the Banker is the villainous figure who offers relatively small amounts of money to contestants in order to get them to sell their cases and walk away from potentially life-changing money. In the original Deal or No Deal game show hosted by Howie Mandel, the Banker’s face was never seen on camera, but it was always understood to be a male.

‘Deal or No Deal Island’ Sneak Peek: Parvati Shallow & the ‘Golden God’ Become Secret Allies (Video)
It’s almost time to head back to Panama for another round of Deal or No Deal Island. The second season of NBC’s newest reality competition series returns Tuesday (January 7) night, welcoming back host Joe Manganiello to speak on behalf of an all-new banker (Season 1’s surprise money man was none other than Howie Mandel). This time, instead of just a single reality television alum, there is a whole slew… but even some of them have an opportunity for anonymity, it seems. In TV Insider’s exclusive new clip of the premiere episode, “The Banker Strikes Back,” it’s clear that David Genat is somehow still flying under the radar, despite being a two-time Survivor Australia alum, an All-Star winner, and the self-proclaimed “Golden God” of the game. However, fellow Survivor alum and The Traitors favorite Parvati Shallow seems to know just how valuable a player he might be in the games,...

A Monk guest star gave the series its funniest version of "here's what happened." Every Monk episode had its own mystery to solve and would end with Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) explaining how he solved the mystery with a monologue beginning with the phrase "here's what happened." This was a tradition upheld throughout Monk's eight-season run from 2002-2009 and was also included in the ending of Mr. Monk's Last Case, the movie sequel that was released on Peacock in 2023.
While Monk was always at the center of these explanations, each episode's guest stars often played a role in them as well. There was no shortage of famous guest stars on Monk, including Willie Nelson, Jason Alexander, Sarah Silverman, Howie Mandel, Stanley Tucci, Jon Favreau, and Danny Trejo. However, it was another famous guest star who made the series' most memorable and most creative "here's what happened" scene come to fruition.

After receiving raucous applause from the studio audience — a handful of whom have been attending the Studio City, CA. taping of the daytime talk show since day one — host Amanda Kloots choked up as she reflected on how important it’s been to listen to one other and “really appreciate each other opinions.”
“That’s what we got to do everyday,” Kloots said through tears. “It’s about talking, not fighting, and being apart of each other’s family.”
For host Sheryl Underwood, her 14 seasons on the show has been about “fashion evolution.” “You’ve seen things happening for me,” said Underwood, who later admitted off-camera that she never really learned to walk in heels.

“The Talk” executive producer Rob Crabbe is getting a little too familiar with TV goodbyes. A year and a half after his previous talker, “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” signed off, he’s now doing the same thing on Friday with “The Talk.”
It’s a different kind of show, and therefore a different kind of goodbye. But still, there are similarities to the sign-off. “The emotional undercurrent of what the shows were trying to accomplish is the same,” Crabbe told Variety. “You’re trying to express joyfulness. You’re trying to make people feel something. And with ‘The Talk,’ we’re giving everybody a little break in their day, the routine of it. This is a respite in your day, where you can come and laugh and watch five people that really like each other have a really good time on television. That emotional currency will be...

When CBS’ The Talk signs off for good on December 20, it will be Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood sharing their final goodbyes — not the myriad of hosts who came before them.
Though all the previous emcees of the show will be honored in a goodbye package, it was important that these final episodes be about the current hosts, explains Executive Producer Rob Crabbe. (Founding host Holly Robinson Peete was on October 1 but was primarily there to promote Queens Court on Peacock).
“The show at its core is about these five people who get along very well, who enjoy being with each other and get to share their opinions on television every day,” Crabbe, who joined the show in season 14, tells Deadline. “I didn’t want to go away from the core tenet of the show.”

There is good news for Deal or No Deal Island fans, and it involves Boston Rob Mariano, a fan favorite from Season 1.
Deal or No Deal Island (Dondi), the spinoff of Deal or No Deal, returns on January 7, 2025, and will now feature an after-show with Boston Rob.
Dondi was an immediate hit with fans, combining the adventure of a reality show like Survivor or Amazing Race with suitcases of cash and the Banker.
Boston Rob was the main reason fans watched Season 1 of Dondi and were hoping he could be involved in Season 2 somehow.
Now, fans don’t have to wonder if he would show up as the Banker, much like Howie Mandel did in Season 1.
When Joe Manganiello teased an “insane” Season 2, fans could only dream that Boston Rob would show up in a cameo or some fashion, and now we know that he is hosting the Deal or No Deal Island After Show.

While viewers come to light comedy movies to escape the horrors of the world and enjoy a good laugh, some films cannot help but unexpectedly go to dark places. Whether it’s a kids’ comedy that suddenly introduces a shockingly bleak piece of information or laugh-out-loud movies that turn increasingly sinister as the runtime progresses, comedy movies can sometimes be surprisingly disarming. While a certain amount of darkness has its place in every genre, the results can be unnerving when audiences don’t see it coming.
Some of the best light comedy movies ever have sinister subtexts that make the movie unexpectedly dark. While wacky characters may seem to be laugh-a-minute personalities at first, the existential nightmare that often makes up comedy movie premises can’t help but feel dark as the story builds toward its grand conclusion. Although the point of a good comedy is to make viewers laugh,...

Horror movies with a good hook and humor can be rare, but a few manage to capture both. Some of the best horror movies from the 1980s present far-fetched humor and a good story, while many of those from the 1990s are all about suspense and satirical humor.
Even decades later, horror movies surprise audiences with intriguing premises that integrate comedic moments. Some horror movies have strong cult followings for their humor, and that wouldn't be possible without a strong starting point. These movies show that audiences will always enjoy an absurd moment or two, adding a nice contrast to the suspense and making the film even more enjoyable.

Sharing a meal with family and friends is all well and good as far as Christmas celebrations go, but for the film lovers among us, it's the perfect time to hibernate in front of the television with a cozy blanket and mug of hot chocolate with a watch-list of some of the greatest Christmas films ready to go. While not every cinephile finds satisfaction out of the genre, it's a time so magical that everything from horror films, '80s action, and even German Impressionism can all find a place in Christmas films.
Ranging from the corny and ridiculous to generational classics, Christmas films have introduced to us some of cinema's most memorable characters. The traditional George Baileys and multiple Santa Clauses hit us in the feels and remind us of the season's merriment, while the Christmas-adjacent Gizmos and John McClanes grant us the space to clench, laugh, and gasp with festive cheer.

Ever the storyteller, Smashing Pumpkins singer/guitarist Billy Corgan recently explained why he and comedian Bill Burr could have more in common than their passing resemblance and shared first name. During a recent appearance on Howie Mandel’s Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, Corgan revealed that there’s a chance they could be half-brothers.
In what was either a tongue-in-cheek bit or a funny coincidence, Mandel realized his team put up a photo of Burr behind him. After acknowledging lookalike memes he’s seen online, Corgan shared a story about their possible familial connection.
“Most of my friends don’t even know this story,” Corgan began. “About 10 years ago, one of my brothers was having a birthday party, and my stepmother was there, who was obviously married to my father. And my stepmother said to me, ‘Do you know who Bill Burr is?’ Now at that point, I had never...

“America’s Got Talent” fans are in a state of mourning as one of their favorite non-human contestants, Mr. Piffles, is dead at age 16. The beloved pooch served as the assistant to Piff the Magic Dragon for more than a decade. Mr. Piffles went to doggy heaven on Nov. 13, 2024.
Mr. Piffles’ trusty human announced the sad news on social media. “For over 15 years I’ve had the privilege and the pleasure of being upstaged and outshone night after night by that little ball of fluffy indifference,” said Piff the Magic Dragon, whose real name is John van der Put. “He came into my life when I had nothing, and set me on the path to a career I could only dream of. Joe Manganiello returns as the host of the reality TV show, and he also serves as an executive producer with Howie Mandel, who hosted the original “Deal or No Deal” game show on NBC. “The Banker is back with a vengeance,” Manganiello teases in the new video. Last year, Mandel surprised audiences by appearing as the Banker in the season finale, but someone else will be sitting in that coveted seat this year … and it’s a woman. Any guesses?!

Gallagher, the comic who reached incredible comic heights with his Sledge-o-Matic watermelon antics and clever wordplay, sunk to equally remarkable lows during the final years of his life, according to the new documentary, Gallagher, premiering this week at Doc NYC.
An impressive array of comics, including Bill Burr, Howie Mandel, Bobcat Goldthwait and Carrot Top, tell the tale of a comedian who innovated like few others. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was one of the first comedians to headline a cable TV special, creating 13 visually inventive hours for Showtime. He turned those shows into videotapes rented constantly in Blockbusters and sold directly to consumers for nearly $40 a pop. Finally, he was a tireless live performer, playing 200 shows a year in large theaters. His comedy was far more clever than the Sledge-o-Matic bits suggest, with out-of-left-field insights and nimble wordplay rivaling George Carlin. He estimates that he pulled in $30 million...

Big Brother fans can watch former houseguests on a range of shows this winter, giving everyone replacement shows for Reindeer Games.
As previously reported by Monsters and Critics, Big Brother: Reindeer Games 2024 was canceled. The show could return in 2025 but has been shelved for now.
Reindeer Games debuted in 2023 and featured 12 former houseguests. Nine former players competed for a nice cash prize; three were co-hosts.
Unfortunately, a new season of The Amazing Race (debuting in 2025) lacks Big Brother alums.
Many teams of Big Brother houseguests have competed in seasons of The Amazing Race, and two couples have won. Jessica Graf and Cody Nickson from BB19 won The Amazing Race 30; Claire Rehfuss and Derek Xiao from BB23 won The Amazing Race 34.
Big Brother 27 casting has also begun, so fans who want to compete can apply for the Summer 2025 season.

Honorable Mention: The Monster Squad (1987)
While this film was a mainstay of my childhood, if you look at it today, some of the language hasn’t aged very well. I still love this film, as I can look past its flaws and remember the absolute glee I would get watching it over and over again.
