"An outcast who became one of the most famous kings who ever lived..." You know his name. You know the legend. Now experience the journey – if you're ready. Prime Video has unveiled an official trailer for a new Biblical epic series called House of David, telling the iconic David vs. Goliath story (from the Book of Samuel) on screen. We all know this classic fable, which is used often today as a reference for an individual taking on a corporation or government, but this is actually going back to tell the original story from history. The once-mighty King Saul falls victim to his own pride, as an outcast shepherd boy, David is anointed as the second king. This depicts Goliath as an actual giant. Newcomer Michael Iskander, who they cast after months of searching (also seen in Kimberly Akimbo on Broadway), stars as David; along with Ali Suliman as King Saul,...

The David and Goliath tale gets a new epic retelling in the trailer for Prime Video’s House of David
It’s perhaps the greatest underdog story next to Rocky. Heck, it’s used as a phrase to describe a match-up that seems so unevenly matched. The David and Goliath tale is one of the most popular stories in the Bible. It tells of a normal man who went up against the fiercest warrior in the land in the biggest size difference imaginable. Amazon’s House of David is a series that will retell the story in eight epic episodes. Three episodes will premiere on February 27, with one episode weekly thereafter. The trailer has just been released.
The official description reads,

Released in 2009, director James Cameron’s film Avatar became the first movie to officially gross more than $2 billion. Then it took him thirteen years to get a sequel into theatres, so it wasn’t clear if the follow-up was going to be able to replicate that success. But then, sure enough, Avatar: The Way of Water also grossed more than $2 billion, paving the way for not only Avatar 3, or Avatar: Fire and Ash, (which is scheduled to reach theatres on December 19, 2025) but also Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 – which will be released on December 21, 2029 and December 19, 2031, respectively. The Sullys, the Na’vi family at the heart of these films, lost one of its members in Avatar: The Way of Water, and Cameron has let it be known that they will still be dealing with that grief in Avatar: Fire and Ash – and he has said that the film will show...

Last year, Alien fans were gifted a new film in the series, Alien: Romulus. Even though this is technically a prequel to Aliens, it still got people excited. There’s a reason behind that, and it’s Fede Alvarez. He’s a director who has a knack for creating intense, suspenseful atmospheres. His approach brings a fresh and thrilling perspective to the iconic horror, action and suspense genres. On this episode of Horror Revisited, we are going to revisit the rundown neighborhoods of Detroit… Buena Vista Street to be precise. And, pay a visit to the old blind man. Just try not to get caught and make sure you Don’t Breathe.

James Cameron has teased he will be making some “brave choices” in ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’.While he doesn’t potentially want to scare audiences away with his bold narrative decisions in the third entry of his sci-fi blockbuster franchise, the 70-year-old director is going to be taking the story to “places [viewers] won’t expect, but that will feel earned”.Speaking with Empire magazine, Cameron said: “We’re just starting to riff on it and twist it and turn it.“It’s a tricky thing. We could be getting high on our own supply here, and everybody who looks at it goes, ‘F***, that’s not what I signed up for.’ But if you’re not making brave choices, you’re wasting everybody’s time and money. “That alone is not sufficient to create success, but it’s necessary. You’ve got to break the mould every fricking time.”The...

Disney has already kicked off the marketing campaign for an upcoming movie that will almost certainly make $1 billion. The entertainment conglomerate is no stranger to billion-dollar movies, as their Walt Disney Animation Studios animated output has included Frozen ($1.27 billion), Zootopia ($1.02 billion), and Frozen II ($1.45 billion) while billion-dollar Walt Disney Studios movies include 2019's The Lion King ($1.661 billion), 2017's Beauty and the Beast ($1.27 billion), 2019's Aladdin ($1.05 billion), and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest ($1.07 billion). However, the company has put out even more billion-dollar titles thanks to its acquisitions of various studios.
In fact, the only 2024 releases that have so far earned $1 billion belong to two of these studios, namely Pixar's Inside Out 2, which grossed $1.69 billion, becoming the highest-grossing animated movie of all time, and Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine, which is the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, with $1.34 billion. We have a lot of huge movies heading our way this year, but 2025 will conclude with what's likely to be by far the biggest: James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The threequel will once again explore new parts of Pandora as we move on from the ocean-loving Metkayina to instead focus on the considerably less friendly Ash Clan. Today, we have a first look at Oona Chaplin's Varang and the movie's "Wind Traders."
"Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She's hardened by that," Cameron tells Empire Online (via SFFGazette.com). "She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil. One thing we wanted to do in this film is not be black-and-white simplistic. Or blue-and-pink simplistic."

The Steven Spielberg-produced Terra Nova introduced the world to new sci-fi plot lines and graphics in 2011unlike other shows on television but was canceled after just one season. Terra Nova was among the many shows and films produced by Steven Spielberg, which naturally drew more attention to it upon its release. It was a wildly expensive show to make, with each CGI-heavy episode costing an estimated $4 million. Unfortunately, this became part of the show's downfall, as Terra Nova only ran for just a single season.
Terra Nova explored unique science fiction concepts like time travel and dinosaurs. With its memorably stunning CGI work, Terra Nova is even considered one of the best TV shows about dinosaurs, even 13 years after it ended. The show generally had middling reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, though they leaned towards positive. Even in its short time on air, Terra Nova was able to build a substantial fanbase,...

23 Blast is a football movie that claims to be based on a true story that has some viewers curious about how much of it is true, what happened to characters like Ashley (Alexa Vega), and if she is even real at all. Football movies never seem to go out of style, and every year or two, a new one comes around to celebrate the virtues of hard work, sportsmanship, and unity. These sports movies are often based on true stories as well, adding that much more sincerity, and occasionally, shmaltz, to the already earnest proceedings.
23 Blast combines a true story with strong performances from a talented cast that includes Stephen Lang, Alexa Vega, Dylan Baker, and Isiah Whitlock, Jr. The film follows Travis Freeman (Mark Hapka), a Kentucky high school football player who is stricken with headaches and a bacterial infection. James Cameron showed up at D23 Brazil (by video) earlier today to confirm that Avatar: Fire & Ash, the third instalment in the hit franchise, is now officially in post-production.
Five gorgeous pieces of concept art have since been released (via SFFGazette.com), offering a better idea of what to expect from the new corners of Pandora we'll explore in this next chapter of the filmmaker's epic sci-fi saga.
Cameron mentioned that the Ash People are a reflection of the worst side of N'avi, suggesting he pulled inspiration from the reality when he noted, "We have a lot of anger and a lot of rage in the world we live in right now."
The threequel's other newly introduced N'avi tribe will be nomadic and travel through the air; however, the Ash People "were destroyed by volcanic eruptions, so they resent nature and everything the forest Na'vi preach."

Concept art from Avatar: Fire & Ash reveals the first look at the Fire Tribe. The sequel to Avatar: The Way of Water and the third movie in the franchise, the movie is set to be released on December 19, 2025. The Fire & Ash story will be bringing back many of its predecessor's cast members, including Sam Worthington (Jake Sully), Zoe Saldaa (Neytiri), Sigourney Weaver (Kiri), Jack Champion (Spider), and Stephen Lang (Quaritch). The movie is also expected to introduce the Fire Tribe, offering more insight into the diverse Na'vi cultures.
The first glimpse was revealed by DiscussingFilm on Twitter and showcases a group of Na'vi surrounded by unidentified creatures, as they walk through fire. The image is mysterious, as it does not showcase exactly how these Na'vi behave, but DiscussingFilm quotes James Cameron as saying, that these Na'vi "have a lot of anger and a lot of rage.

Famous Western actor Robert Mitchum's role in Tombstone was changed after he sustained an injury and could no longer appear in the film. Tombstone's cast went through a few changes but ultimately starred Kurt Russell as the lawman Wyatt Earp and Val Kilmer as his associate Doc Holiday. The film explores the real 1880s people and old-west Arizona events, including the Ok Corral Gunfight, and is considered a classic of the genre.
Tombstone has a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and remains popular over 30 years later. This success is partly due to its writing but also heavily relies on Tombstone's cast, which features many iconic actors, many of whom were starting their careers at the time of the film's release. Unlike these actors, Mitchum already had an impressive Western resume, which explains the alteration to his role to ensure his involvement in the movie despite being unable to perform in person.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to hit theaters next year, marking the third sequel in one of the world’s biggest franchises. The first movie made history, winning a Golden Globe in 2010 and snagging several Oscars. So, it’s easy to imagine how much the cast, especially lead actor Sam Worthington, has gained from being part of this massive production.
Still from Avatar (Credits: 20th Century Studios)
Also, not many people know that Worthington wasn’t the first choice for the role, but once he landed it, his paycheck was pretty surprising. At the time, the actor wasn’t the biggest name in Hollywood, but interestingly, what he’s earned from Avatar even tops Robert Downey Jr.’s initial salary.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has addressed the possibility of appearing in an Avatar movie, but only if a particular condition is met first. Schwarzenegger and Avatar director James Cameron have worked together three times, and have become friends in the process. As a result, it may not be surprising that the two have discussed the upcoming Avatar sequels. Cameron directed the first two Terminator movies as well as True Lies, all of which starred Schwarzenegger. All three of their past collaborations were successful, but it has been over 30 years since the two worked together.
James Cameron's career has had a massive impact on Hollywood since his films with Schwarzenegger. His use of CGI in the Terminator franchise was groundbreaking, and his Avatar movies reached $2 billion at the box office each. Terminator was the movie that started Schwarzenegger's career as a 1980s action star, making him a household name. The Avatar movies are...

James Cameron has announced an exciting new addition to the Avatar cast, and though I can't wait to see her on-screen, I'm disappointed that I have to wait five years for her introduction. After the release of Avatar: The Way of Water, which released 13 years after the original Avatar, James Cameron released his plan for the franchise's future. There will not only be an Avatar 3, but a fourth and fifth film as well. Avatar 6 and 7 may also happen, though without Cameron. Either way, there will be plenty of Avatar in the coming years.
At this point, there isn't too much information about Avatar 3 or its consequent sequels. Cameron recently revealed that Avatar 3 would be titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, and furthermore, that it's slated for release on December 19, 2025. However, the director and his crew did hint at who might be joining the franchise later on. In 2021, a photo from the...

In a bit of an odd turn of events, a largely forgotten sports drama has been climbing the charts on Netflix as of late. 2014's "23 Blast," which is based on the true story of a remarkable football player named Travis Freeman, has made its way into the Netflix top 10 movie charts, right alongside recent hits such as "The Super Mario Bros. How is it that this decade-old football movie is finding an audience on the world's largest streaming service when so many other movies are available for one to stream? It's a fascinating example of the unpredictable nature of the streaming world we now live in.

"Deadpool 2" is known for many things. It was the sequel to one of the biggest R-rated hits in cinema history. It also did the classic thing of going bigger than its predecessor, with larger action set pieces and more characters from throughout the Marvel universe -- most notably, the time-traveling mutant Cable, a fan-favorite from the comics who was played by Josh Brolin in the film. But before Brolin landed the part, a certain WWE superstar auditioned for the role.
Randy Orton, aka The Viper, was recently a guest on the WWE talk show "What Do You Wanna Talk About?" During the conversation, the longtime staple of the ring revealed that he auditioned for the role of Cable, which would have been by far his biggest foray into Hollywood to date. As Orton explained in the interview, his journey with the character was a short one:
"I do auditions here and there.

Nolan had nothing planned beyond The Dark Knight trilogy, but it's still fun to imagine villain casting for a fourth movie. Various casting ideas for potential Dark Knight 4 villains include Leonardo DiCaprio as Riddler, and Stephen Lang as Deathstroke. Kenneth Branagh for a Court of Owls leader and Jake Gyllenhaal as Tommy Elliot's Hush (who'd been in the running for Batman before the role went to Christian Bale).
Although Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy ended in 2012, it's fun to imagine whom he might have cast as the villain of a potential Dark Knight 4. The Dark Knight Rises saw Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne retiring and Joseph Gordon Levitt's John "Robin" Blake taking over as Batman. To that end, many have theorized what a fourth chapter could have looked like with a new Dark Knight (and new foes to endanger Gotham City).

Jason Momoa's standout film, Braven, is his highest-rated non-franchise action movie, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Despite being overshadowed by big-name franchise roles, Braven showcases an exceptional action performance by Momoa. Compared to the underwhelming Sweet Girl, Momoa's Braven offers a more engrossing and satisfying viewing experience with its solid plot.
With big-name film franchises populating Jason Momoa's acting catalog, it can be easy to miss out on some of the actor's standalone gems, which has become the case of a 2018 action thriller he helmed. Momoa has a history of doing it big in his career, securing early opportunities in popular TV titles like Baywatch (1999-2001), Stargate: Atlantis (2005-2009), and, later, Game of Thrones (2011-2012). Because of these notable roles, Momoa's film career throughout the 2000s largely fell through the cracks. Fortunately, Momoa's efforts as GoTs Khal Drogo shot him into another level of stardom, occasioning more pronounced movie breaks.

Priority One: Avoid spoilers. All other considerations secondary. Be warned, this article discusses major plot details from "Alien: Romulus."
For those who haven't been paying close attention, it might've been easy to miss how the first "Alien" movie in over seven years ended up in the hands of Fede Álvarez. Genre junkies have been well aware that he made quite the entrance in 2013 with his "Evil Dead" remake. Only a few years later, he teamed up once again with lead actor Jane Levy for the original horror movie "Don't Breathe," which spooked and grossed out moviegoers in equal measure on its way to becoming a critical and box-office hit. With both success stories under his belt (not to mention the trust of producer Sam Raimi), it was only a matter of time before he landed on the radar of someone like Ridley Scott and was brought on board to help...

Fede Álvarez subverts expectations and form with his unnerving apocalyptic audio drama TV series that mixes psychedelia with the supernatural.
“We’re getting a lot of strange calls. The kind that makes no sense.”
Fede Álvarez has been a genre force to be reckoned with ever since his short film about a robot rampage in Montevideo, Panic Attack!, got him the gig for 2013’s Evil Dead. Álvarez is constantly pushing boundaries as a filmmaker and horror storyteller and he’s become someone who the film industry trusts to breathe new life into beloved classics, whether it’s Evil Dead, Alien, or even The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Álvarez’s Alien: Romulus has already become one of 2024’s most talked about movies – horror or otherwise. However, one of Álvarez’s most impressive genre accomplishments is Calls, an experimental streaming horror series from 2021 that reinvents the audio drama with ambition and ingenuity.

Disney’s D23 jamboree saw director James Cameron announce the title of his next Avatar film: Fire And Ash, and tease its “high emotional stakes.”
The sequel to 2009’s Avatar and 2022’s Avatar: The Way Of Water now has an official title – Avatar: Fire And Ash. The elemental-sounding subtitle was announced at Disney’s D23 event in California over the weekend, and James Cameron himself took a few hours out of his busy schedule to talk teasingly about his upcoming sci-fi fantasy.
“The characters are so alive, and it feels so real,” Cameron said, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly. “It’s also got very high emotional stakes – more than ever before. We’re going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love.”
Cameron then suggested that his fiery (and ashy) sequel might defy audience expectations somewhat. “The film is not what expect,” he said, “but it’s definitely what you want.
