"The Simpsons" is arguably the greatest animated series in history. Similarly, "Cheers" is almost certainly one of the greatest live-action sitcoms of all time. But what would happen if these two worlds met? That question was answered briefly (and hilariously) once in 1994 when Homer Simpsons stumbled into the most famous bar in TV history. Yet, during his trek there, a certain voice was notably absent from the proceedings -- namely, that of Kelsey Grammer, who has played Sideshow Bob since the earliest days of "The Simpsons."
Grammer, of course, also played Frasier Crane on "Cheers" before eventually headlining the very successful spin-off "Frasier." Nevertheless, he didn't lend his voice to the crossover in question. It happened during the episode "Fear of Flying," which aired as part of "The Simpsons" season 6. The main plot of the episodes involves Homer being awarded...

The Toy Story saga isn't over yet as Toy Story 5 is on its way, and while much is unknown about the upcoming movie's story, a tease from one of its actors suggests Buzz is stepping into the spotlight. Pixar's multi-billion-dollar franchise kicked off in 1995 with the premiere of Toy Story, the animation studio's first feature film. Since then, Pixar has released five movies in the franchise, including three sequels and one spin-off. Since Toy Story is so popular (and brings in a lot of revenue), the studio is developing a fourth sequel featuring the return of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
Toy Story 5, starring Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 19, 2026.

The Toy Story series has been with us for decades, ever since the first movie hit theaters in 1995. It was Pixar’s very first feature-length film, and it completely changed the world of animation. From that moment on, Pixar became the gold standard for animated movies, telling stories that were not only for kids but for adults too.

As the last week of December approaches and viewers prepare for the upcoming animated movies of 2025, it's time to look back at the past year for the best animated movies of 2024. While a recent update about the release window of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-verse, the current most-anticipated animated movie, practically confirms that there won't be a release date for another 2 years, 2024 has still been very exciting for animation, with the release of sequels to many beloved franchises.
Every animated movie released in 2024 didn't make as big a stir in the box office or among critics as they were supposed to, but there have been some noteworthy surprise hits. While Kung Fu Panda, Inside Out, Moana, and Despicable Me got anticipated sequels, the Transformers franchise branched out into animation, and The Wild Robot got critical and commercial success beyond what anyone had imagined it would.

This article discusses suicide and alcoholism.
Though it's primarily a comedy, Cheers had more than a few heartbreaking episodes, and these 10 are the most likely to get the tears flowing. One of the most beloved parts of Cheers is how heartwarming it is, and how realistic its entire cast seems. Every character at the bar seems like a genuine person, and part of the way the show managed to make them so relatable was by giving them real problems. That also meant that some episodes of Cheers could get very dark and sad, and they could truly tug at the heart strings.
A remarkable ability Cheers had that very few sitcoms have been able to replicate is its ability to balance serious topics, like alcoholism and suicide, with genuinely funny moments and heart warming endings. Cheers is a comedy, so most of its sad moments had a fairly neat conclusion and happy resolution,...

Thanksgiving is a theme long integrated into the world of entertainment. From movies based on the holiday to sitcoms incorporating it into their plots, there are several sitcoms that have made Thanksgiving a staple setting for their heartfelt and comedic moments. From Friends to Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fresh Off the Boat, and many many more have episodes dedicated around the holiday. Yet, none seems to have captured the chaotic essence of the holiday quite like Cheers does.

The long-running sitcom Cheers had quite a few guest stars in the course of its 11 seasons, and these 10 actors were the very best of the show's cameos and special appearances. Each season of Cheers varied in quality, but one thing remained consistent throughout the show's 11 seasons: the caliber of guest appearances. Some of the biggest comedians, politicians, and athletes in the world got a chance to visit Sam Malone (Ted Danson) and the rest of the bar, and they made the most of those opportunities. Only 10 can be considered the best, though, and the competition was quite stiff.
There are quite a few factors that make a cameo or special guest appearance memorable. The best cameos are ones that not only brought a famous person onto Cheers, but also the ones that used that cameo creatively. Many of Cheers' best guest stars played themselves, but the show used their real-world...

Gary Larson's The Far Side is known as perhaps the funniest comic strip of all time, while Cheers has the same reputation among sitcom fans, so it's an amazing treat that the two actually combined. Not only did Cheers give fans a great joke that depended on The Far Side, but the sitcom even used a real Gary Larson comic to do it.
The Cheers gag centers on a rare multi-panel Far Side comic where a group of cows in a field spot a car coming and 'pretend' to be simple animals while they're visible to humans. Cows have become the mascots of The Far Side because Larson used them so often, with most fans citing this as the best of the best in the creator's bovine oeuvre.

Weve come to expect a lot from animated films heart, humor, and character growth that blossom into a moving and memorable story. Not every film rises to the occasion, but some are less forgettable than others simply because they aimed to do something a bit different. Spellbound, the Skydance Animation-produced Netflix film, touches upon the themes of family and the changing dynamics that could potentially make or break it. That is its greatest strength, but for some reason, it takes too long to make its point and underwhelms in other areas in the process.
Spellbound, directed by Vicky Jenson, follows Princess Ellian on her adventurous quest to rescue her family and kingdom. As a mysterious spell transforms her parents into monsters, Ellian must navigate this perilous journey to restore the King and Queen of Lumbria.

Some of those unfamiliar with Lacey Chabert's work over on the Hallmark Channel might be discovering her for the first time after watching her in Hot Frosty on Netflix, but Chabert is a certified Christmas movie queen. The actress has starred in countless holiday films over the years, mostly on the Hallmark Channel. However, some of Chabert's roles in the movies are more memorable than others, making them stand out amongst the rest, which is a feat, given that the actress has appeared in more than 15 festive flicks.
Despite her tireless work on Christmas projects year after year, many will first recognize Chabert from her iconic role as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls alongside Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Amanda Seyfried. Almost a decade following her breakthrough via the memorable 2000s chick flick, though, Chabert turned to Hallmark. Since the early 2010s, Chabert has made her mark in the...

For today’s Gen-z kids, The Big Bang Theory and Friends might be some of the shows that they feel are iconic. But long back in the 80s, aired a show that changed the definition of sitcoms and grew a massive fan base across the US.
Yes, we are talking about NBC’s Cheers, which ran successfully from 1982 until its series finale in 1993. Critically acclaimed and loved by many during its original run, the series is one of the best sitcoms.

Ted Danson recently apologized to Kelsey Grammer for a decades-old argument they had while working together on “Cheers.”
On the Oct. 23 episode of the “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast, co-hosted by Danson and Woody Harrelson, Grammer and Danson reminisced about their time together on the hit NBC sitcom and discussed what their relationship was like off-camera.
“I feel like I got stuck a little bit with you during the ‘Cheers’ years,” Danson told Grammer. “I have a memory of getting angry at you once.”
“Yeah, you came and told me that one day,” Grammer chimed in. The former “Cheers” co-stars didn’t reveal any specifics about the dispute.
“It’s stuck in both of our memories. But I feel like I missed out on the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer and I feel like it’s my bad, my doing,” Danson admitted, “and I almost feel like apologizing to you.

Over the years, Woody and Buzz have befriended many other wacky toys, from their original crew to the cast of Toy Story 4.
Some briefly seen supporting characters in the Toy Story movies prompt additional questions about the world, or are so wonderfully funny in the brief time on screen that they arguably deserved more of it. Due to the franchise's acclaim, even minor characters have been voiced by A-listers, delivering some hilarious performances. The series has yet to see a bad movie heading into Toy Story 5, but even its tight narrative pacing...

A new live-action Disney art imagines Up's Carl as if he were a real person. The 2009 Pixar film follows the story of septuagenarian Carl Fredricksen as he embarks on an adventure to South America with an unexpected young stowaway. Up features a leading voice cast of Edward Asner, Jordan Nagai, John Ratzenberger, Christopher Plummer, Bob Peterson, and Delroy Lindo. It won an Academy Award for Best Original Score and Best Animated Feature and is regularly regarded as one of the best movies made by Pixar.
On Instagram, a new art from @ylanast imagines a live-action version of the Up lead character. The sped-up video shows an artist transforming the animated Carl into a more realistic version. He has a full head of white hair and the animated character's classic bushy eyebrows. He also sports a frown, just as the character did in Up, and has a melancholy look in his...

Conceived by Barbara Pyle and media mogul Ted Turner, Captain Planet was an ecological hero way ahead of his time. The animated series ran for years with some nifty design work by Neal Adams and his Continuity Associates. Each episode featured an adventure and a lesson (of course). It endeared itself to a generation of viewers and remained an enduring figure from the 1990s.
Now, Warner Home Entertainment has released Captain Planet the Complete Franchise, with 41 hours and 31 minutes of environmental goodness. For silly legal reasons, the show has two titles evenly split among its six seasons: Captain Planet and the Planeteers (animated by Dic) and The New Adventures of Captain Planet (animated by Hanna-Barbera) for the final three seasons.
Gaia, the spirit of Earth, was voiced by Whoopi Goldberg, who set the tone and standard for the entire series. She was accompanied by a voice cast that included Margot Kidder...

The much-anticipated sequel Inside Out 2 (2024) is the latest Pixar movie to feature a litany of fun Easter eggs and hidden Pixar references. Nine years after the original Inside Out (2015) delighted audiences of all ages, Inside Out 2 expanded the roster of entities that control the mind of now-13-year-old Riley Andersen by introducing five new Emotions. As was the case with its predecessor, Inside Out 2 has generated a high Rotten Tomatoes score, which was sorely needed after the last few Pixar movies fell short of the production company's lofty standards.
Pixar Animation Studios has crafted a tradition of loading their movies with Easter eggs and references to both past and future Pixar films, along with other relevant pop culture nods. The new sequel is no different, as by the end of Inside Out 2, eagle-eyed viewers can catch more than 20 different Easter eggs, some more obvious than others.

Animated sequels rarely live up to the standards of the original, especially since many animated classics are left as standalone movies. It's only in the 21st century that animated sequels have become more popular. Before this shift, animated movies were either left untouched or given direct-to-video sequels with little fanfare, as was the case with many Disney classics. The landscape of animated movies is much different now.
The 21st century has seen the rise of long-running animated franchises such as Shrek, Toy Story and Kung Fu Panda. Still, sequels can be tricky business, with studios struggling to come up with storylines as vibrant as those in the original movies. However, there are some exceptions where a sequel can strike upon a brilliant idea. In these cases, some sequels can even improve upon the animated classics which inspired them.

Ayyyyy! Henry Winkler and Ron Howard reunited at the 2024 Emmys on Sunday, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Happy Days.
Dressed in black suits, Howard and Winkler stood behind a booth at their usual haunt, Arnold’s. Before channeling their fictitious characters from decades ago, Winkler acknowledged Howard’s recent Emmy for his work on the Disney+ documentary Jim Henson Idea Man. After a round of applause from the audience, Winkler said of standing on the Happy Days replica set, “Feels like home.”
The Happy Days theme song is just as legendary as the show itself.

Ted Danson recalls taking mushrooms on a trip with the male Cheers cast, describing it as "the worst four hours" of his life. Despite calls for a Cheers revival, Danson and co-creator James Burrows have no plans for a contemporary take. The Cheers cast remains in touch, appearing together at events and celebrating the show's legacy through reunions.

Pixar Animation Studios has announced that Incredibles 3 is currently in development, targeted for a summer 2027 premiere. Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the first two films in the popular franchise, will take on both roles again for the third installment.
The Incredibles films have earned much praise from audiences since the original debuted in 2004. Known for its entertaining superhero action blended with relatable family themes, the series follows the adventures of the Parr family as they juggle superpowered exploits and everyday challenges. The sequel continued the story in 2018 and went on to massive box office success.
The new film is expected to reunite the voice cast from past entries. Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter are likely to reprise their roles as parents Bob and Helen Parr, aka Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. Sarah Vowell and Samuel L. Jackson are also expected to lend their voices for children Violet and Frozone again.

Monsters, Inc. 2 can finally address Sulley and Boo's reunion following the first film's cliffhanger ending. Disney previously scrapped a devastating sequel idea where Boo would have died. Pixar must make sure Monsters, Inc. 2 lives up to the original film's high standard.
A Monsters, Inc. sequel has been a long time coming, and although Pixar hasn't officially confirmed another movie, one has been teased, hopefully finally paying off the original film's ending. The 2001 animated comedy, directed by Pete Docter, was only the fourth Pixar movie ever made, following in the footsteps of Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Toy Story 2. Although Monsters, Inc. is one of Pixar's oldest films, it's still among the animation company's best. It deserves a sequel, which must live up to the hype that's been building since Monsters, Inc. ended on a cliffhanger 23 years ago.

Riley (Kensington Tallman), the little girl audiences were first introduced to in 2015’s Inside Out, is navigating typical teenage life in Inside Out 2. Early in the film, she gets invited to an advanced hockey tryout at her soon-to-be-new high school with her two besties, only to find out that they aren’t going to the same school, and that the badass jock girls at the new school are bigger, stronger, and cooler. While it’d be nice if she knew how to deal with that in an emotionally mature way, unfortunately, she’s literally got a lot more on her mind.
When we last saw her in the original film, Riley had one core group of anthropomorphic emotions running around the crystalline control center in her head, guiding her decisions: Joy (Amy Pohler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust, and Fear. After the big red puberty alarm goes off,...

For years many fans of Pixar films have become familiar with a particular voice in their movies. That voice is actor and comedian John Ratzenberger. While many growing up in the 1980s remember him as Cliff Calvin on the popular sitcom Cheers, children from the mid-1990s to the late 2010s have heard his voice in other places.
Starting in the 1995 animated film Toy Story as Hamm the piggy bank, the actor went on to appear in 23 films for the animation studio. He was P.T.
