Originally published in 1918, Edgar Rice Burroughs’ The Land That Time Forgot has inspired multiple adaptations, most notably Kevin Connor’s 1974 film. Now, the story returns to the screen courtesy of The Asylum, who previously tackled the tale in 2009. Can this new adaptation deliver a mix of nostalgia and modern sensibilities, while staying true to the spirit of the original novel?

The movie opens with a tense and chaotic sequence as the crew of a Russian submarine launches a surprise attack on an Australian naval vessel in the Bering Sea. The reasons behind the attack as well as the Aussie’s presence so far from home remain unclear, but the ship is destroyed.

The brand-new remake of the 1941 original film, Wolf Man, is soon to be released in theaters across the country. The film will presumably follow a werewolf attack on an Oregon townhouse. While viewers wait, there are several different werewolf moves to watch that will not only satisfy their curiosity, but prepare them to watch the upcoming film as well.

Critics' thoughts on the film have already begun flooding in, with Wolf Man already holding a score on Rotten Tomatoes. This has only led more people to wonder what the movie will be like when it finally releases. Reviews have called Wolf Man a fun monster movie, but viewers will be able to decide for themselves once the film finally releases on January 17th.

War of the Worlds: Extinction is a followup to The Asylum’s 2021 film War of the Worlds: Annihilation, but in the opening montage, however, the film flips the script entirely, revealing that rather than Earth being invaded it was us doing the invading, attacking and trying to colonize the planet Emios after we made Earth uninhabitable.

Almost immediately after that montage, we see the one returning character, General Skuller leading his troops against the Earth forces, apparently in defiance of orders to stand down and welcome what are referred to as refugees from Earth. It was co-written and directed by Walter Hill, who’d just come off the massive success of the Eddie Murphy vehicle 48 Hrs. It was a music-driven film at a time when similar movies, like Footloose, were doing big business. Gravitas Ventures acquired U.S. and Canadian distribution rights to Lou Simon’s crime thriller, “9 Windows,” the indie distributor announced Friday.

The first-of-its-kind all-virtual production from producers Bryce Dicristofalo and Todd Slater of Brick Lane Entertainment is a modern day retelling of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 classic “Rear Window.”

“9 Windows” is the first ever feature-length, live action film shot entirely on an extended reality film stage. It stars Independent Spirit Award nominee Michael Forsythe and Michael Paré.

Gravitas is slated to release the film on digital and cable VOD on Oct. 15.

Cody Christian, Jonetta Kaiser and Michael Paré have nabbed lead roles in the sci-fi thriller Sync being unveiled as part of Toronto Film Festival’s informal market.

Christian will play a grieving man in 2035 who turns to groundbreaking technology to reunite with an artificial intelligence-generated version of his deceased fiancée, played by Kaiser. But as he delves deeper into their virtual encounters, Christian’s character notices something is off kilter with her programming.

This year gifts us the 40th anniversary of the major motion picture “Streets of Fire.” In 1984, Walter Hill’s ambitious “rock & roll fable” sported a killer soundtrack and an all-star cast, how could it possibly have failed? Oh, right, it was released against both “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock” (the summer of 1984 was stacked). And that aforementioned all-star cast? Including Diane Lane, Willem Dafoe, Rick Moranis, Bill Paxton, and Amy Madigan? None of them were famous yet.

But, over the past 40 years, Hill’s “Streets of Fire” has developed quite a robust following. This isn’t your average action movie or Broadway musical—rather, it’s a fantastic mashup of the two, all encased in a neon-drenched shell of pure 80s crazy. Seriously, this movie is one-of-a-kind. Picture it: a city that looks like a jukebox exploded, where brooding hero Tom Cody (Michael Paré) must rescue his rockstar ex-girlfriend (Diane Lane) from a leather-clad biker gang led by the devilishly charming Willem Dafoe. European Film Academy Adds Record...

Heading into the Cannes market Vmi Worldwide has acquired international sales rights to the action title Kill Craft, with sister company Vmi Releasing set to release in North America.

Mark Savage wrote and directed the story starring Sanae Loutsis as a wife and daughter forced to take over the family business after her veteran hitman father is mysteriously killed on the job.

Michael Paré and Bill Oberst Jr. also star in the feature from Stl Productions, Savage Sinema, and Millman Productions.

Savage, Alexi Angelino, and Jeff Miller produced Kill Craft, with Shawn Loutsis and Tamie Loutsis serving as executive producers.

This week is notable for bringing two recent big screen releases into our homes, one a horror comedy from the writer of Jennifer’s Body and the other an Oscar nominated genre favorite.

Less than one month after being released in theaters, the horror-comedy Lisa Frankenstein is now available at home. You can own or rent the film on Digital starting today.

Directed by Zelda Williams and written by Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body), Lisa Frankenstein first dug up someone special in movie theaters nationwide on February 9.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “Billed as a coming-of-rage tale, Lisa Frankenstein instead offers a celebration of outcasts and weirdos.”

“It makes for a sugary sweet, almost wholesome effort held together by a trio of infectiously winsome performances,” Meagan’s review continued.

The classless practice of traumatic profiteering is alive and well in Thomas Walton’s micro-budget slasher Camp Pleasant Lake. We’ve become a society obsessed with gnarly true crime documentaries and podcasts, lifting infamous serial killers to celebrity status. As superfans once wrote letters to Charles Manson in prison, studios now churn out streaming programs about despicable icons like Bundy and Dahmer to capitalize on trending viewership. Camp Pleasant Lake is an intriguing commentary on selling someone else’s grief and loss for your next payday, but at no point does Walton’s execution do his “Horror LARPing” concept justice.

The film takes place at Camp Echo Lake, where new owners Rick (Michael Paré) and Darlene Rutherford (Maritza Brikisak) have reopened as an immersive Halloween experience. For $10,000, attendees are treated to “Camp of Terror,” an all-inclusive murder party that ties back to a horrible crime committed on the grounds 20 years prior.

Lifetime films traffic in a certain kind of narrative, namely infidelity, deception, dark romance, and occasionally murder. Tall, Dark, and Dangerous tackles at least three of these qualities, which is appropriate given the film is set partially around Valentine’s Day, a holiday ripe for sensational, slightly ridiculous narratives.

Following an underwhelming opening sequence in which Mercedes (Griselle Escotto) is menaced by a man on the phone before her house is broken into, the main narrative introduces quintessential Lifetime protagonist Alice Miles (Jamie Bernadette).

Alice is smart, wealthy, and, most importantly for Tall, Dark, and Dangerous, bad at relationships. The name John A. Russo should be familiar to lifelong horror fans, as Russo was the co-writer of George A. Romero’s original horror classic Night of the Living Dead. He later co-wrote The Return of the Living Dead and went on to direct films including Heartstopper and Santa Claws. John A. Russo is back here in 2024 with The Red Tide Massacre.

Writer/director Thomas Walton’s 1980s-inspired slasher Camp Pleasant Lake has secured a distribution deal with DeskPop Entertainment, Deadline reports, with the plan being for DeskPop to give the film a VOD and limited theatrical release on February 27th. Since that date is only a month away, we should be seeing a trailer for this movie very soon – but in the meantime, a first look image can be found at the bottom of this article.

Exclusive: DeskPop Entertainment has acquired filmmaker Thomas Walton’s 1980s-inspired slasher Camp Pleasant Lake. DeskPop has set the pic for a release in select theaters and VOD on February 27.

Written and directed by Walton, Camp Pleasant Lake follows Rick and Darlene Rutherford, who attempt to breathe life into the eerie remnants of an old campsite, unaware of its dark past. Strange occurrences haunt the area, mirroring the tragedies of the old camp, where two decades earlier, a young girl was kidnapped and her parents brutally murdered. Camp Pleasant Lake stars Lipnicki alongside Bonnie Aarons, Andrew Divoff (Wishmaster 1/2), Michael Paré, Kelly Lynn Reiter, Robert Lasardo (Death Race), Maritza Brikisak, and Greg Tally. Jared Safier produces the film alongside Walton, with Jeremy Hirsch, Matthew Macur, Damien Douglas, Lenny Vitulli, Jackson Everest, and Michael Mahal as its executive producers. The folks over at The Asylum are back at it again with brand new action-horror movie Planetquake, and much like Sharktopus, well, the title for this one kind of speaks for itself.

In the low-budget disaster movie, “A tectonic shift deep below the Mariana Trench causes a series of ever escalating earthquakes. If a team of leading seismologists fails to stop the disaster, the events will break apart the Earth, resulting in billions of casualties.”

In case that isn’t enough to let us know what he thinks of his neighbours to the South, we get to see him hang out at a strip club with some buddies, including Brenner, Hilts and Tinelli trading comments about how disgusting Mexicans are. And to cap off the night, he has to be stopped from attacking another Mexican in the parking lot.

One week after the anticipated season 11 return of Vanderpump Rules, Tom Sandoval will mark his return to the Lifetime cinematic universe with a movie that — like his Bravo unscripted series — focuses on a relationship marred by deception.

On Thursday, Lmn (Lifetime Movie Network) announced its upcoming slate of original films for the first three months of 2024, including Tall, Dark and Dangerous, set to air Feb. 8. Sandoval appears in the thriller that debuts just one week after Vanderpump Rules returns with the continued aftermath to the Scandoval controversy, which centered on last year’s revelation that Sandoval cheated on longtime partner Ariana Madix with Raquel Leviss.

Tall, Dark and Dangerous is a Valentine’s Day-themed movie about Alice (Jamie Bernadette) realizing that Chris (Matthew Pohlkamp), the seemingly perfect guy she met on a dating app, is not the person he seems and actually stole the identity of his former roommate, played by Sandoval.

“People ask me, where are all the great exploitation movies today? The low-budget horror films? They’re on the Lifetime Network!” Shudder’s horror host Joe Bob Briggs once said, and he’s not entirely wrong about that. There’s plenty of entertainment value to be found in Lifetime’s particular brand of thriller, and a new year brings along with it a brand new slate.

Deadline reports on Lifetime’s Quarter 1: 2024 slate of original thrillers this afternoon, which promises fourteen brand new thrillers premiering here in the early months of the year.

Lmn has released its first quarter movie slate that features fourteen new thrillers, including the premiere of the 35th film in the network’s prolific Wrong Movie franchise.

The Wrong Life Coach will premiere on January 11, and is executive produced by Vivica A. Fox, who stars alongside Eric Roberts, Tracy Nelson, Michael Paré, Jackée Harry, Morgan Bradley and Allison McAtee. Roberts, Paré, Harry and Nelson also star in the Valentine’s themed Tall Dark and Dangerous, set for February 8th, with Matthew Pohlkamp and Vanderpump Rules‘ Tom Sandoval.

Inthe 1995 "The X-Files" episode "Død Kalm," Agents Mulder and Scully (David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) trek out to the U.S.S. Ardent, an American destroyer frozen in a remote area off the coast of Norway. The ship had recently been abandoned by its crew as a mysterious environmental condition had caused them to age rapidly; although in their 20s, they looked like they were in their mid-60s. When Mulder and Scully arrive on the Ardent, they find that the remaining crew on board has become mummified and that the ship's hull has already begun to rust through. Before too long, Mulder and Scully begin aging rapidly as well. Mulder theorizes that they have encountered a "wrinkle in time," and that the Ardent might be going through something similar to the notorious Philadelphia Experiment of 1943. Scully later finds that their advanced aging might have something to do with the ship's freshwater supply.

Action icon Dolph Lundgren and Frasier himself Kelsey Grammer – who have actually worked together before, on The Expendables 3 – star in the upcoming action thriller Wanted Man, which is set to receive a theatrical, VOD, and digital release on January 19th. Closing out the first night of this year’s Saskatoon Fantastic Film Festival, The Puppetman tossed me a nugget of nostalgia early in the film when the leads make a booze run and I recognized the upside-down sign of Buffalo’s On the Rox Liquors, where many an eventful weekend of my own started.

Earlier this month, a serial killer thriller called Squealer was given a theatrical and digital release. You can watch the trailer for that one Here. Squealer drew inspiration from the story of Robert Pickton, a Canadian pig farmer who was charged with killing 26 women (but claimed to have killed 49). He would feed the bodies of his victims to the pigs. Just a couple weeks after Squealer made its way out into the world, another serial killer thriller inspired by the Pickton case has arrived in theatres, and you can watch the trailer for this one, which is called Pig Killer, in the embed above.

It’s not often that a movie which made less than $5 million at the box office will still be talked about four decades later, but Eddie and the Cruisers fits the bill. Despite the fact that it was a box office disaster, the film spawned a hit soundtrack, had a pair of hit singles, and became a cult hit through cable airings and home video. When the film was being shot, Michael Paré was a young actor working on The Greatest American Hero, and Eddie and the Cruisers was his big screen debut. Speaking at a fan event, Paré said he was as shocked as anybody else when the film started to take on a whole new life.
