“Family is supposed to be our safe place, but sometimes it’s a battlefield,” goes a line from the unspoken story that is Kate Hudson’s complex relationship with her biological father, Bill Hudson. When the spotlight hits the world of showbiz families, we often get the impression that it’s all picture-perfect, no wrinkles. But as the Hudson family saga proves, not all stories are laced in sequins.

The Deepwater Horizon star has long been estranged from her biological father. Born to Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn and musician-actor Bill Hudson, she’s been the subject of media fascination. However, as the years pass, the public drama has become something more than just tabloid fodder. It’s a raw, painful slice of family life that many can relate to but few dare discuss so openly.

Some genuinely wild names brushed by the Millennium Falcon during George Lucas's search for the right Han Solo in "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope." In another timeline, that scruffy-looking nerf herder could've had the appearance of Al Pacino, Bill Murray (who almost became Batman as well), Christopher Walken, Jack Nicholson, or even "Frasier" star Kelsey Grammer, who once found himself auditioning to portray the hotshot pilot. But before Lucas looked to a very lucky carpenter for the job, an already established young star named Kurt Russell got a call to come in and try visiting a galaxy far, far away. Decades later, Russell's audition for the movie is now available to watch and provides excellent insight into the Solo we could've had.
Taking a look back at the breadth of Russell's acting career, there's no doubt that the charm and swagger needed for Han Solo was in there somewhere.

John Carpenter, the writer/director behind classic comedy adventure "Big Trouble In Little China" (1986), starring Kurt Russell as 'Jack Burton', isn't too keen about the long-delayed sequel to his film, after being left out of the creative process. "They want a movie with Dwayne Johnson," said Carpenter. "that's what they want. So they just picked that title...":
"You can't remake a classic like that, so what we're planning to do is we're going to continue the story," said sequel producer Hiram Garcia.
"We're going to continue the universe of 'Big Trouble in Little China'.
"Everything that happened in the original exists and is standalone and I think there's only one person that could ever play Jack Burton...
"...so Dwayne would never try and play that character..."

When Roland Emmerich made his 1994 sci-fi adventure "Stargate," he likely never envisioned the sprawling media saga that would follow. In fact, after the film proved a modest success at the box office, there was talk of making a whole "Stargate" trilogy. Instead, Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner took on the task of continuing the story begun by Emmerich. The pair oversaw "Stargate Sg-1," a TV show that launched in 1997 and revolved around the same team from the movie, following their exploits across the universe as they explore strange alien worlds using the Stargate portal. Kurt Russell might've refused to reprise his lead role as Colonel Jack O'Neill for the franchise's small-screen continuation, but Wright and Glassner had "MacGuyver" star Ricard Dean Anderson to help propel their series to success. Indeed, the show proved a cult hit, lasting for 10 seasons before the Sci-Fi channel (now SyFy) cancelled "Sg-1" in 2007.

Deepwater Horizon is an American biographical disaster film released in 2016. It is an adaptation of The New York Times article, "Deepwater Horizon's Final Hours" written by David Barstow, David Rohde, and Stephanie Saul.
It has a very powerful narrative based on true events depicting heroism that arose in the time of a deadly crisis. As the name suggests, Deepwater Horizon is all about how the oil drilling rig, aptly named “Deepwater Horizon,” exploded in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010, leading to the largest oil spill in the history of the US. This movie is an intense thriller that shows how a blowback at the recently drilled well threatened to destroy the rig along with everyone on it.

Kurt Russell sure has an illustrious career. We've seen him play a living planet, Wyatt Earp, Santa Claus, and (depending on whether you stand with MacReady or Childs in "The Thing") the killer of a shape-shifting alien. This guy has done it all and more, which makes it understandable that there are so many favorites to choose from. Ask the man himself, though, and there's a trio of Kurt Russell gems that he thinks were massively overlooked.
The big three were selected during an interview with FilmInk when the actor was promoting "The Hateful Eight." After the eight-year gap between his then-fresh new collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, the duo's first pairing was just starting to get some love, as well. Vidaamuyarchi North America Box Office: Where Will It Stand Among Ajith Kumar’s Higher Premiere Collections? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
After a long wait, the trailer of Ajith Kumar’s much-awaited Vidaamuyarchi was finally dropped yesterday. The trailer has managed to create a positive impact and viewers are praising the technicality of the film, along with Thala’s dashing look. With a good first impression, the upcoming biggie is expected to rake in record numbers for the superstar at the box office. While all eyes are set on its performance in India, the film is also expected to do wonders internationally, especially in North America.
Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, the upcoming Kollywood action thriller was earlier supposed to release during Pongal but was postponed due to some reasons. Now, it is scheduled to arrive in theatres on February 6. It is said to be based on Kurt Russell-led Breakdown (1997). While the exact cost is unknown,...

Few Westerns have stuck with me the way Tombstone has. It's got everything you could want: deputies versus cowboys, intense shootouts, men brooding about law and order, and, of course, it wouldn't be Tombstone without those amazing mustaches. The cast of Tombstone is stacked, with Kurt Russell’s Wyatt Earp and Val Kilmer’s Doc Holliday leading the way as one of the coolest and most quotable duos to come out of the Western. It’s a movie that delivers on every level. Decades later, Tombstone is still considered one of the great Western movies.
That said, as much as I love Tombstone, there’s one thing about it that’s always bugged me: the ending. After all the betrayal, loss, and bloodshed of Wyatt’s vendetta ride, the movie wraps things up with Wyatt and Josephine dancing in the snow. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to see Wyatt find happiness,...

Larry Cohen isn’t really a horror guy, at least not in the same vein as his contemporary filmmakers like Wes Craven, John Carpenter, or Tobe Hooper. Cohen wasn’t even really the same type of director as he wrote almost 3 times as many projects as he directed. What he lacked in quantity for horror movies though, he more than made up for in quality. This quality started with 1974’s It’s Alive and moved through very different types of horror like God Told Me To, The Stuff, and Q the Winged Serpent. The only series of movies he was involved in was his trilogy of It’s Alive movies. While the first two were heavy hitters in terms of themes that were hidden under the guise of creature features, the third one had far less to say but is unfairly seen as less fun. 1987 was a weird year for the man,...

January 16th is the birthday of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, who turns 77 this year – and to mark the occasion, Shout Factory / Scream Factory is having a sale of John Carpenter Blu-rays! While the company has to apologize to later-era Carpenter fans because their 4K releases of his films Ghosts of Mars and Vampires are not included in this sale, the Blu-rays of Assault on Precinct 13, Someone’s Watching Me, Elvis, Starman, Memoirs of an Invisible Man, and Body Bags are.
The Assault on Precinct 13 Blu-ray usually sells for $15.99. For this sale, the price has been dropped to $9.99. Written and directed by Carpenter, this film was originally released in 1976 and has the following synopsis: Isolated and cut off from the city inside a soon-to-be-closed L.A. police station, a group of police officers and convicts must join forces to defend themselves against the gang called Street Thunder, who have taken a...

When Guardians of the Galaxy debuted in 2014, it was a breath of fresh air for the MCU, but years later certain aspects have not stood the test of time. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy depicted the eponymous team’s adventures in the MCU timeline. Its irreverent humor, stellar soundtrack, and colorful characters made it an instant fan favorite. However, as time has passed and audience expectations have evolved, certain elements of the Guardians trilogy haven’t aged as gracefully as others.
The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie is widely considered one of the MCU’s best movies to date. It took a group of obscure Marvel characters and turned them into household names. The combination of retro aesthetics, heartfelt storytelling, and ensemble cast dynamics propelled the films to massive critical and commercial success. It was promptly followed by two sequels. John Dutton's body is barely cold, but it's already time to look towards the future of the "Yellowstone" universe. The massively popular Western series created by Taylor Sheridan signed off with a strange, divisive Travis-filled final batch of episodes in December 2024, wrapping up an extended two-year off-season (technically marketed as a midseason) with an ending that saw the Kevin Costner's Dutton family patriarch kick the bucket, with his black sheep son Jamie (Wes Bentley) soon following.
The ending of "Yellowstone" was far from perfect, but the show seeded enough goodwill among hooked viewers over the years that whatever Sheridan does next, it's clear that millions will still tune in. The multi-hyphenate cowboy creative's upcoming filmography is as overstuffed as ever, but in the ever-changing landscape of IP-driven TV production, one forthcoming project seems to be coming together nicely: "The Madison." The iconic 1993 Western Tombstone is loaded with iconic Doc Holliday one-liners, but one of the most memorable may require a bit of explanation. Starring Kurt Russell, Sam Elliott, and Val Kilmer in one of his most celebrated roles, Tombstone has evolved into a true classic in the 30+ years since its release, thanks largely to how quotable and rewatchable it is. The movie chronicles the adventures of former lawman Wyatt Earp, his brothers, and his friend Doc Holliday (Kilmer) during the time before, during, and after the infamous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, and the subsequent Earp Vendetta Ride.
Wyatt Earp and his brothers relocated to Tombstone, Arizona, hoping to seek their fortunes as entrepreneurs after a lifetime or enforcing the law with their own brand of justice. They eventually become entangled with the Cowboys, a gang of outlaws who have terrorized Tombstone and the surrounding area since well before...

In addition to Young, American Primeval alters several real-life historical details and figures.

Escape from New York is one of my favorite movies, so I'm glad the remake appears to have finally died in development. The original 1981 John Carpenter movie has one of the all-time great movie hooks; the most dangerous convict in the world, Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell), is forced to rescue the kidnapped President from New York, which has been walled off and turned into a hellish prison. Escape from New York is one of Carpenter's best, filled with great sequences and dialogue.
I've always felt that one minor flaw is that the film's modest budget meant it couldn't fully use its setting. Escape From New York's action is relatively small-scale, and it doesn't take audiences to some of the city's most iconic locations, like Central Park or the subway. In theory, a big-budget reboot could really flesh out the concept and make it much larger, but the Escape from New York...

Although Tombstone stands out as an exemplary Western, there are several other great films of the genre with comparable quality. Tombstone boasts an incredible cast, headlined by Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp and Val Kilmer as the iconic Doc Holiday. It’s no surprise that it quickly became a modern Western classic.
Tombstone has been praised for its gripping storyline, legendary characters, and intense showdowns. It doesn’t re-invent the Western but instead delivers on all fronts of the genre very well. While, some Westerns lean into spaghetti Western tropes, and others use horror to subvert the genre, there are a number of Western movies, like Tombstone, that deliver classic Western stories about the American frontier, the people who tried to tame them, and the lengths they’ll go for revenge and justice.

Director Leigh Whannell, a former candidate to lead a remake of Escape from New York, has addressed what the chances are that the project will happen. Originally released in 1981, the sci-fi action film focuses on Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell), a former Special Forces soldier who must rescue President John Harker (Donald Pleasence) from inmates in Manhattan. The film has become a classic, with plans for a remake later taking shape under Whannell's leadership in 2019. However, the project has since been shelved, with the director's upcoming Wolf Man film being his primary focus now.
Speaking with ComicBook about Wolf Man, Whannell explained how he would be open to directing an Escape from New York remake in the future, if the project was ever revitalized. Speaking about how some film projects simply don't make it past the planning stage, the director explained how many different factors can result in a movie no longer being made.

If you've seen 1993's "Tombstone," you know that it contains one of the greatest visual effects ever seen in a Western. No, it's not the movie's explosive gunfights, nor is it the shots featuring teams of horses being ridden over precarious terrain. Instead, it's the fabulously outlandish, hirsute, and downright masculine mustaches that almost every single male actor in the movie sports. "Tombstone" is a movie about capital-d Dudes, and the actors' mustache game is so strong that it has the power to change lives. Take me, for instance; I was primarily a Beard Guy for many years, but upon revisiting "Tombstone" over the holiday season of 2023, I made the decision to become a Mustache Man, and I've yet to look back.
It just so happens that the power and influence of the mustaches in "Tombstone" was 100% intentional. No incidental or idle hair and makeup styling was happening on that set,...

In a remarkable career spanning over 60 years, Kurt Russell has just about done it all. He's been a Disney child star, an action hero, a serious dramatic actor, an unabashedly silly comedic lead, and Elvis Presley. Though Russell was never a box office titan on par with contemporaries like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis, he is worshipped as a god by genre fandom for having played such iconic s***kickers as Snake Plissken in "Escape from New York," R.J. MacReady in "The Thing" and Jack Burton in "Big Trouble in Little China." Those last two were flops theatrically, but they've gone from being cult favorites to bona-fide mainstream classics. As a result, Russell, at the age of 73, might be more beloved now than he's ever been.
For Russell fanatics, there's a lively discussion to be had over what his best performance outside of that aforementioned holy trinity of John Carpenter movies might be.

Matthew McConaughey Marvel Hulk (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Imagine Matthew McConaughey as Bruce Banner. The guy who crushed it in Magic Mike and won an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club almost played the Hulk. But Marvel didn’t have it. He spilled the rejection on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, saying, “Wanted it.” He threw his hat in the ring, but Marvel passed with a “No, thank you.” Ouch.
By the time the MCU hit, McConaughey was at the top of his game—A Time to Kill, rom-coms, then the “McConaissance” in Magic Mike, Killer Joe, and Interstellar. With superhero films everywhere, he thought, why not him?
McConaughey’s love for the Hulk goes back to the classic The Incredible Hulk TV show. So when Marvel was casting, he figured he was the guy. But nope. Marvel went with Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk (2008), and by The Avengers (2012), Mark Ruffalo was the one smashing it.

A subtle touch of facial flair is sometimes all a movie character needs to be downright iconic. Many chaotic comedy movies that entertain from start to finish prove how vastly larger-than-life personalities benefit from their distinctive looks. From Ron Burgundy’s perfectly groomed mustache to the hairy cultural phenomenon of Borat, facial hair is often much more than just a style choice.
From action-packed thrillers to timeless comedies, iconic characters are often seen sporting many different types of movie mustaches. Figures like Charlie Swan in Twilight feature a distinct rigidity to their character that is solely complimented by their facial features. Samuel L. Jackson’s best movies are another example of how easily distinct looks can become trademarks of unforgettable roles. From Westerns to comedies and everything in between, a mustache can go a long way in creating an iconic character.

Baylan Skoll actor Ray Stevenson's death in 2023 was absolutely tragic, and any one of these actors stepping into the role in Ahsoka season 2 would be the perfect way to honor his memory and legacy. Baylan Skoll was undoubtedly one of the best parts of Ahsoka season 1, especially in terms of brand-new characters and concepts. It was thrilling to see Star Wars Rebels characters like Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, and Hera Syndulla in live-action for the first time, but Ahsoka managed to make newcomers Shin Hati and her master, Baylan Skoll, equally compelling.
The Ahsoka ending also set up how critical Baylan was going to be moving forward, as he was last seen on Peridea, evidently on a hunt for the Mortis Gods. With news that Ahsoka season 2 was among Star Wars' upcoming TV shows, though, many began wondering how Baylan's story could continue. More than for the good of the show,...

VFX artists share how a balance of practical and digital techniques employed in a classic John Carpenter and Kurt Russell feature created visuals that would fit alongside later technological developments. Carpenter is known for helming influential, genre-defining features, including Halloween, They Live, and The Fog. He is a celebrated director because of his lasting impact on the horror genre. Carpenter and Russell began their working relationship with an unlikely project in the form of Elvis, a 1979 TV movie where Russell portrayed the singer looking back on his life and career.
Carpenter and Russell's collaborations would continue throughout their careers, allowing the actor to play characters such as pilot and survivor R.J. Macready in The Thing and truck driver-turned-hero Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China. While there have been times when Russell wasn't always Carpenter's first choice, he nevertheless has struck up a great bond with the performer. And...

Released in 1993, Kurt Russell's Tombstone has long-since passed into legend as one of the defining Westerns released after the supposed decline of the genre. Financially successful, but not to the degree that it broke into the year's box office top 10, and critically appreciated, but not exactly adored at the time, the entertaining look at some of the key events in Wyatt Earp's life stands shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the most famous examples of Westerns.
In the three decades since its release, appreciation for Tombstone's cast has grown the most, not least because of stand-out performances by Kurt Russell (as Wyatt Earp), Val Kilmer (in his career-high role of Doc Hollywood), and Michael Biehn (Johnny Ringo), but also because of the numerous early performances by incredibly talented actors who would go on to far bigger things. As Roger Ebert said, Russell and Kilmer were so good that their performances became almost ubiquitous,...

Kurt Russell's Wyatt Earp is portrayed as a dangerous and deadly lawman in the 1993 Western classic Tombstone, and racks up a staggeringly high body count as he seeks a reckoning on behalf of his brothers. The memorable performances of Tombstone are a large part of why the Western has become so widely celebrated in the three decades since its release, and none is more powerful than Russell's angry, vengeful Wyatt Earp. In his pursuit of Curly Bill Brocius and the remainder of the Cowboys outlaw gang, Earp indiscriminately metes out justice with his engraved Peacemaker gun.
Earp actually refuses to return to the law for the first half of Tombstone, content to settle down with his brothers and their brides and become a successful businessman in the booming Western town. However, once his brother Morgan is killed and his brother Virgil is paralyzed, Wyatt loses all sense of peace.

Two Christmas series are trending on Netflix, and they couldn't be more different. Netflix's library contains a diverse array of Christmas titles. Although their roster includes an ever-shifting array of acquired movies and TV shows that come and go as licensing contracts change, their holiday season offerings for 2024 have included theatrical titles such as A Bad Moms Christmas and Journey to Bethlehem as well as a huge list of Hallmark CHannel movies including Haul Out the Holly, Christmas with a Kiss, Christmas in Notting Hill, A Biltmore Christmas, and A Merry Scottish Christmas.

When Tombstone hit theaters in 1993, few realized how quickly it would become one of the most beloved Westerns of all time – or how many of its stars would become indelible Western icons. Thanks to its unforgettable performances, gripping storytelling, and raw depiction of one of the Wild West's most famous events — the classic gunfight at the O.K. Corral – the movie stands as one of the signature depictions of the Western genre in the modern era of filmmaking.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Tombstone’s deep cast of actors, including legends like Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, and Sam Elliott, has appeared in numerous other Westerns over the years. From gritty tales of frontier justice to character-driven TV dramas, these films and shows offer a wide range of top-notch stories celebrating the Old West.

Robert Zemeckis released an R-rated comedy starring Kurt Russell called Used Cars which is surprisingly very dark. Zemeckis is best known for his incredibly popular and classic films such as Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, and Cast Away. Zemeckis made his feature film debut with 1978's historical comedy I Wanna Hold Your Hand, which follows two fans who try to sneak into the Beatles' hotel in New York City before their American debut on The Ed Sullivan Show.
While Zemeckis is known for his collabs with Tom Hanks, he has also worked with several other stars such as Kurt Russell in Used Cars, which was just his second directorial effort. Used Cars is one of Russell's career-best comedic performances, even though the actor is best known for his dramatic roles in classic movies such as Tombstone, Escape From New York, and Miracle. Though he may never have hit megastar status, Robert Patrick has been a stalwart presence in Hollywood ever since his biggest role as the T-1000 in James Cameron's seminal "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." So definitive was his performance that Patrick has actually played the T-1000 outside of "T2" multiple times, despite the fact that his character was never officially brought back for any of the sequels.
But any fan of the actor will know that he's also had a consistent and actually pretty darn impressive run of work ever since that 1991 blockbuster. He also remains active today, most recently showing up in season 2 of Prime Video's "Reacher" series, where his primary antagonist was a clear homage to his role in Cameron's classic. Patrick also played a frankly horrible human being in season 1 of "Peacemaker," and could be seen in season 1 of the short-lived HBO series "Perry Mason."

There are few horror films as thoroughly chilling as John Carpenter's 1982 masterpiece "The Thing." Loosely based on the John W. Campbell novella "Who Goes There?", which was previously adapted as the 1951 Christian Nyby film "The Thing From Another World," "The Thing" follows a research team in the arctic as they battle with a mysterious alien being that had been frozen in the ice. While the movie wasn't a hit when it first came out (in large part because it was a disturbing bummer with an enigmatic ending), "The Thing" has come to be thought of as a true horror classic.
But "The Thing" so many of us know and love today was almost a very different movie, as Carpenter realized during editing that the pacing was far too slow and he needed to cut some dialogue and add more monsters (a great call). He had originally planned for a pretty...

Was Matthew McConaughey almost cast as Ego? (Photo Credit – Facebook/Hotstar)
Yes, Matthew McConaughey was almost the celestial villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Sounds wild, right? But yes, it almost happened.
Back in 2015, Guardians director James Gunn reportedly had his sights on McConaughey for the role of the main bad guy. But McConaughey, being McConaughey, passed. Not because of script issues, not because of creative differences—but because he didn’t want to feel like just another “big-name actor” bolting onto a successful project.
Matthew McConaughey famously said, “I’d feel like an amendment.” Translation: He didn’t want to just add star power to the MCU mix. McConaughey wasn’t about being a filler; he wanted to carve out something significant. Instead of playing a cosmic daddy figure to Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, McConaughey chose to embody Randall Flagg—the villainous antagonist in Stephen King’s The Dark Tower.

For three seasons between 1964 and 1967, Sherwood Schwartz's "Gilligan's Island" delighted undemanding television viewers with the exploits of seven castaways stranded on an uncharted island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. It was a sitcom the whole family could enjoy (though some parents might've had qualms about sanctioning such tropical buffoonery), though it didn't really find its place in the popular culture until it went to syndication. When "Gilligan's Island" could air five times a week, it became a couch potato favorite; suddenly, people were generating wild theories about the series' underlying themes and, by sheer repetition, memorizing the plots of whole episodes.
After stumbling out of the gate with its pilot (which was missing several key cast members), the show quickly found its formulaic groove thanks in large part to the dorky chemistry of its ensemble. But while they were a perfect fit, Schwartz and his writers realized early on...

Tombstone is a fantastic Western movie that depicts the adventures of the infamous lawman Wyatt Earp as he travels to a small town in Arizona and quickly finds the place overrun by criminals and Cowboys, but it was not the first film to do so. Starring Kurt Russell as the iconic figure, Tombstone is the most famous and critically acclaimed movie to tell Wyatt Earp’s story - but it certainly isn’t the first. There have been several films about Wyatt Earp, and they all take completely different approaches to their storytelling.
Perhaps what’s so engaging about Earp’s story is how effectively and succinctly it embodies the themes of revenge, violence, and masculinity that were prevalent throughout the American Wild West. It’s the kind of story that speaks volumes about society at the time but remains relevant today with its characters who have since become icons.

Perhaps better known for his horror movie villains, Carpenter's grim sense of creativity perhaps lends itself more to the darker side of a given narrative, with iconic antagonists like Lo-Pan, The Thing, and the Halloween serial killer Michael Myers all springing from his twisted mind. But as great as John Carpenter's best villains are, he also deserves recognition for his entertaining cinematic heroes.
The success of John Carpenter's characters can be measured in various ways. Some of them are legendary simply for their ability to weather the insidious circumstances of John Carpenter's best films, surviving slashers and subhuman creatures alike. Others are more watchable than likable, responsible for classic line deliveries and bold maneuvers that keep them worthy of rooting for even decades later.

Sydney Sweeney has been steadily acting for over 15 years, but her big break, arguably, did not come until 2019’s Euphoria. Like Euphoria, many of Sweeney’s early roles in her career have been on television, but she has expanded into movies as well with blockbusters like Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, horror like Immaculate, and rom-coms like Anyone But You.
Sweeney might have a reputation for appearing like a classic blonde bombshell, but she appears in movies and TV projects as more than simply a sex symbol. Her roles have been varied, even if they are not always as well received, like 2024’s Madame Web, her first foray into the superhero genre. Sweeney has more than demonstrated that she has a well of emotion to tap into and a great grasp of the characters she plays. These are Sydney Sweeney’s best movie and TV roles in her...

Making a successful movie in Hollywood is a challenging feat for even the best filmmakers. Then again, sometimes even the greatest cinematic endeavors get overlooked as a result of circumstances beyond their control. For every surefire hit like "Jurassic Park," "The Avengers," and "The Dark Knight," there exists a handful of pictures moviegoers ignore before discovering them years, even decades, after their initial release.
Classics like "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Office Space" failed miserably at the box office but eventually became beloved cinematic treasures after hitting home video and cable. Others, like "Hocus Pocus," steadily accrued a devoted fan base over time, while "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" fell flat on its face but quickly reworked itself into a campy treat audiences could participate in, leading to prolonged success.
While there are too many belated hits to list in this article, we've compiled a handful of our favorite movies that...

Yellowstone, the long-running drama about the Dutton ranching family, came to an end the other night with its season 5 finale, "Life Is A Promise." The series has been a huge hit for the Paramount Network, spawning multiple spinoffs. But the final season hasn't been received as warmly as past seasons by fans, whether because they think the writing has degraded or because star Kevin Costner stepped away from the series, necessitating several story pivots. Maybe both.
But how are fans receiving the series finale? At the moment, the narrative is that they aren't taking it too well. "Dumb ending #Yellowstone #YellowstoneTV," one fan wrote, per The Express. "That was probably the worst final season in television history," wrote another. You get the idea.
One person compared the ending of Yellowstone to the ending of Game of Thrones, which had a famously huge backlash among fans: “It is official. Game of Thrones...

Dutton Ranch closed its doors for the last time on Sunday, Dec. 15 with the Yellowstone season 5 finale... or did it? With all of the drama going behind the scenes with the hit Paramount Network series, it's understandable if you're a bit confused on where the show stands moving forward. Is it canceled? Is it over for good? Is Yellowstone season 6 happening?
It's complicated, and unnecessarily so. There have been conflicting reports over the past year about the future of Yellowstone following the departure of series star Kevin Costner. But its uncertain fate seems to have been resolved just in time for the original flagship series, which launched an entire universe of hit shows, to sign off with its season 5 finale — and (unofficial?) series finale.
Even though the Paramount Network has continued to market the season 5 finale as just that, a season finale, a new era seems to already be taking shape for the Western phenomenon.
