Star Trek (1966)
Company featuring Star Trek apparel forced to drop license after price jump
Star Trek (1966)
The Paramount Skydance merger had a profound effect on the Star Trek brand and unfortunately, one company can no longer afford to create licensed products.

Tony Kim is the owner of Hero Within, an apparel company that manufactured quality Star Trek-themed jackets, hoodies, and other items. Unfortunately, Kim revealed in a recent interview that the company can longer afford the licensing cost since the merger leading to the Paramount Skydance Corporation earlier this year. Kim said of making the initial decision to create only licensed Trek apparel beginning in 2019 via TrekMovie.com:

“We had very little capacity for Star Trek while creating merch for Marvel and DC… We made...

Star Trek (1966)
Must-see Star Trek content dematerializing on Netflix (and soon!)
Star Trek (1966)
Paramount Plus is, for the most part, the go-to website for all of Star Trek’s legendary content. However, there is only one place Trekkies can stream the Emmy-nominated series featuring so many fan-favorite characters — and that is Netflix.

Unfortunately, the streaming giant is nixing Star Trek: Prodigy’s must-see second season at the end of the month. Yes, Wednesday, Dec. 31, is your final chance to watch the show, unless you have purchased it on physical media or through a video-on-demand website.

I can’t recommend Prodigy enough. I know there are those out there who haven’t given the series a chance, but it’s so well-written and wonderfully animated.

One of Star Trek's most underrated shows is leaving Netflix in January 2026
Image
One of the most soul-crushing things a streaming fan can experience is logging into Netflix, ready to dive into a show they love, only to find it’s no longer available. That series you counted on for laughs, thrills, or comfort? Poof. Gone. But sometimes, this is the unfortunate reality when it comes to content on Netflix.

And sadly, Star Trek fans are about to feel that sting firsthand. One of the franchise’s most underrated shows, a series that brought fresh energy, unique characters, and thrilling adventures to the Star Trek universe, is set to leave Netflix next month.

Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 is slated to depart Netflix in...

Star Trek character was unlike any hero in the sci-fi universe (and still is)
Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, and Patrick Stewart in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)
Resistance is still futile.

Star Trek: The Next Generation proved that Gene Roddenberry’s beloved science fiction universe worked beyond The Original Series, particularly the chemistry established between the show’s main characters: Captain James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Dr. McCoy. In 1993, Deep Space Nine followed on Tng’s successful heels, but it wasn’t until 1997 that Trekkies were introduced to Seven of Nine, a hero who was unlike any character in the sci-fi universe — and still is.

Jeri Ryan portrayed a human, who was assimilated by the Borg, and years later extricated by the crew of the USS Voyager. Seven was without question an out-of-this-world marketing tool used...

Star Trek: DS9 actor wanted to team up with this Voyager icon
Nana Visitor
The legendary Nana Visitor, who played Major Kira Nerys on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, reflected on her time during the show, the importance of her character, and how she would have loved to work with an iconic Star Trek: Voyager actor. Visitor made the revelation in an interview with ScreenRant in which she said this is who she'd like to have teamed up with in the final frontier:

"I thought you were going to ask me a different question. If I could go back, who I'd want to interview. That would be Grace Lee Whitney. But to bring into the show… I would love to work with Kate Mulgrew.

Nana Visitor's Surprising Star Trek Crossover Choice For DS9
Image
Nana Visitor chooses a surprising Star Trek character that she would've liked to cross over to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and butt heads with Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks). Visitor starred as Major Kira Nerys for all seven seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

In 2024, Nana Visitor wrote Star Trek: Open a Channel: A Woman's Trek. Visitor interviewed many women who have appeared in Star Trek, and she charted the evolution of female characters from their 1960s depiction in Star Trek: The Original Series to their progressive modern roles in Star Trek on Paramount+'s series.

Star Trek series boldly goes beyond cancellation with Emmy nods
Alex Kurtzman at an event for Una famiglia all'improvviso (2012)
There are Trekkies who still take issue with Alex Kurtzman producing Star Trek to this very day. However, surely everyone can see the wonderful merits of the animated children’s series from creators and showrunners Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman, Star Trek: Prodigy. Yes, the story of teenage slaves making off with the USS Protostar came and went under Kurtzman’s tenure, but that shouldn’t diminish the series' wonderful storytelling. And now, the defunct show has garnered some serious awards consideration, even after being canceled.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has officially recognized Prodigy and one of the most beloved Star Trek actors of all time, Kate Mulgrew.

Star Trek's decision to abandon its highest-rated show will never stop confusing me
Image
There's certainly been no shortage of Star Trek content in recent years, but not all of it has been universally praised. In fact, shows like Star Trek: Discovery have been incredibly divisive, despite the project running for five seasons before it ended last year. So, when a Star Trek show perhaps unexpectedly becomes a fan-favorite, I always expect Paramount to give it all the resources it needs.

As it turns out, one franchise installment could haven't proven me any more wrong if it had tried. After just two seasons, the show in question is largely believed to be dead in the water after clinging to existence for the final stages of its run.

Robert Duncan McNeill Reflects On Disliking Tom Paris In Early Star Trek: Voyager Seasons
Image
Robert Duncan McNeill recalls not liking his character, Lieutenant Tom Paris, in the early seasons of Star Trek: Voyager. McNeill played Tom Paris in all seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025.

Lieutenant Tom Paris was the hotshot helmsman of the USS Voyager, but he had a unique origin. When Star Trek: Voyager began, Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) had Paris released from prison to find the Maquis. Paris became the USS Voyager's pilot, but he was brash, arrogant, and rough around the edges in Voyager's first few seasons.

Why Kate Mulgrew Remains Absolutely Livid Over Star Trek: Prodigy's Cancellation
Image
"Star Trek: Prodigy" lived an unusual life. The first half of its first season was released somewhat sporadically from October 2021 to January 2022, while its second half didn't drop until October 2022. This was frustrating, as season 1 told a singular, overarching story. Without regularity, it felt disjointed.

Then, after season 2 was completed, but before it premiered, Paramount callously and abruptly canceled "Prodigy." The series was then removed from Paramount+ completely as part of a massive cost-cutting bonanza by the studio. Eventually, though, it was picked up by Netflix, which unveiled season 2 in July 2024. Clearly, Paramount had no faith in the series and was happy to let it slip through the cracks.

That's a pity,...

Star Trek: Voyager Needed Kes, The 'Critical' Character Replaced By Seven of Nine

Kes was a series regular character for the first 3 seasons of Star Trek: Voyager. An Ocampa who only lived for nine years, Kes and her love interest, Neelix (Ethan Phillips), joined the USS Voyager's crew in Star Trek: Voyager's series premiere. However, when Jennifer Lien exited Star Trek: Voyager, the show's producers cited Kes as an underdeveloped character with limited story potential.

Robert Beltran Critiques Repetitive Star Trek: Voyager Janeway And Seven Of Nine Episodes
Image
Robert Beltran calls out how every episode of Star Trek: Voyager between Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) was "exactly the same." Beltran played Commander Chakotay in all seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager opposite Mulgrew's Janeway, with Ryan's Seven of Nine joining the series full-time at the end of season 3.

Jeri Ryan provided a ratings boost to Star Trek: Voyager when she joined as Seven of Nine. The catsuit-clad Seven became a mainstream cover girl, and she provided a new element of rebelliousness to the USS Voyager. Meanwhile, Captain Janeway took it upon herself to mentor Seven, a former Borg drone, in reclaiming her humanity.

Robert Beltran Praises Original Star Trek: Voyager Captain Genevieve Bujold

Star Trek: Voyager's Robert Beltran praises what Genevieve Bujold, the original actor cast as Captain Janeway, would have brought to the role. Beltran played Commander Chakotay for seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager opposite Kate Mulgrew, who became iconic as Captain Kathryn Janeway after she replaced Bujold.

Academy Award nominee Genevieve Bujold as Star Trek's first female Captain to lead a TV series was a casting coup for Voyager. However, a few days into production, it became clear that Bujold, a feature film actress, could not acclimate to the demands of TV production. Bujold soon quit, and production shut down until Kate Mulgrew took over as the new Captain Janeway.

How a 63-year-old Sci-Fi Series Influenced Star Trek: Voyager
Image
It’s been 30 years since Star Trekfans first watched the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager become stranded in the Delta Quadrant. Before Voyager premiered in 1995, the team behind the show, which included creators Rick Berman, Michael Piller, and Jeri Taylor, was looking for a unique design for its titular ship, which turned out to come from a unique source.

In a new interview from TrekMovie’s All Access Star Trek podcast, Doug Drexler, an Oscar-winning makeup artist, designer, and illustrator, talked about the 1960s sci-fi comedy, My Favorite Martian, that would end up inspiring the design of the iconic ship captained by Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) on Star Trek: Voyager.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy must solve a 27-year-old Voyager mystery
Image
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is the start of a new era for the franchise, but that doesn't mean it should turn away from the saga's rich history. A member of Starfleet Academy's cast was originally one of the stars of Star Trek: Voyager, and their upcoming return to live-action could end up being even more substantial than it already is.

Set in Star Trek's 32nd century, Starfleet Academy is a soft sequel to Discovery after the show ended in 2024. That said, as well as technically serving as the third Discovery sequel, Starfleet Academy is set so far in the future that it's essentially a follow-up to every Star Trek show to date.

Star Trek Stars Set The Record Straight On Voyager's Most Controversial Scene
Image
The "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Tuvix" remains controversial to this day, perhaps unexpectedly so. The premise of the episode is absurd: the logical Vulcan Tuvok (Tim Russ), and the hobbit-like chef Neelix (Ethan Phillips) beam up from a plant-gathering away mission, only to find their botanical samples somehow interfered with the transporter beam. The two men eerily merge together into a composite being that is just as much Tuvok as he is Neelix. The new being, calling himself Tuvix (Tom Wright), possesses the memories and skills of both Tuvok and Neelix.

At first, Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) feels that this new Tuvix being should be placed back on the transporter...

Star Trek: Voyager Showrunner (Kind Of) Defends One Of The Show's Worst Episodes
Image
In the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Threshold" — often considered one of the worst episodes of the series — the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager discover a rare power-synthesizing crystal that, in theory, could allow the ship to travel faster than Warp-10. In the lore of "Star Trek," Warp-10 is faster than anything has ever traveled, reaching the point of infinite velocity. An object traveling at Warp-10 would essentially pass through every point in the known universe simultaneously. For a lost ship trying to traverse a 70-year trip across the Milky Way back to Earth, this is a tantalizing proposition.

To test out these crystals, the Voyager's engineers equip a shuttlecraft with them,...

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy trailer provides very little for excited Voyager fans
Image
The Star Trek: Starfleet Academy trailer introduces a new era for the iconic sci-fi franchise, but there's something about the first extended look at the show that will surely have Voyager fans very concerned. Made as a soft sequel to Star Trek: Discovery, the space opera's upcoming project will chronicle the re-opening of Starfleet Academy in San Francisco for the first time in generations.

Starfleet Academy's 32nd-century setting makes it tricky for many legacy stars to show up without some clever sci-fi writing. That said, it's been common knowledge among Trekkies for a while now that one Voyager star will factor into Starfleet Academy's story as a "series regular." It...

In our rotation of rewatching various chapters in the Star Trek television canon, we’ve recently been enjoying the “Star Trek: Voyager” series.

It was the only one to feature a woman in the captain’s chair (in the form of the great Kate Mulgrew as Captain Kathryn Janeway). But watching the show on Paramount Plus brings the painful reminder that once upon a time, there wasn’t high-definition TV, let alone 4K that could be shot on smartphone cameras in everyone’s pocket.

10 Best Apple TV+ Shows Of 2025 (So Far)
Image
One of the great tragedies of Apple TV+ is that it has some of the best original TV shows being made today ... but it often feels like nobody's watching them.

The streaming service put itself on the back foot from the start with the decision to feature exclusively original content, instead of backing that with a library of licensed content like competitors Netflix and Prime Video. TV viewers are used to having a great ocean of titles to choose from, and Apple TV+'s selection probably looks like a puddle in comparison.

But what it lacks in quantity it more than makes up for in quality. One of the upsides...

Kate Mulgrew Reveals Her Thoughts on the Tuvix Episode of Star Trek: Voyager
Image
Throughout the last six decades, Star Trekhas had its fair share of notable and borderline controversial episodes. But for many Trek fans, one particular episode that stands out from the rest is a divisive installment of Star Trek: Voyagerthat aired for the first time nearly 30 years ago.

Voyager fans are likely familiar with the Season 2 episode titled “Tuvix,” in which Tuvok (Tim Russ) and Neelix (Ethan Phillips) are sent to collect samples of botanicals from a planet. When the pair beam back on board the U.S.S. Voyager, the two accidentally merge at a molecular level due to the presence of the plant they collected.

The pair, by merging,...

Star Trek: Voyager actor recalls hilarious BTS pranks

However, despite the seriousness of many episodes, it turns out there were plenty of pranks being pulled behind the scenes. Russ recalled the good ole days while attending the recent Creation...

The sad reason it took decades to revisit Star Trek: Voyager in a new project
Image
At last, we’re getting a new Star Trek: Voyager project, but just what is the reason the show has been ignored for so long in projects? We have an answer!

It’s been almost a quarter of a century since Star Trek: Voyager wrapped up its seven-season run in 2001. It was a strong finale involving time travel and a clash with the Borg, and ended with Voyager finally returning to Earth.

Since then, there have been mentions of the crew and their fates in the various Trek novels (now considered non-canon), and Kate Mulgrew has reprised her role as Kathryn Janeway in Nemesis and Star Trek: Prodigy. Also, Jeri Ryan...

Janeway, who sees her crew as an ersatz family, takes it upon herself to reach out to the three crewmates in question and see what their deal is. Maybe she can warm them up, train them more closely, and get them to participate more warmly with everyone else.

The 5 Worst Episodes Of Star Trek: Voyager, Ranked
Image
"Star Trek: Voyager" (1995-2001) was the fifth "Star Trek" series, and the third to be set in the 23rd century. It arrived when the franchise was on a prolonged hot streak, having just concluded a successful seven-season run of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," released its seventh movie in "Star Trek: Generations," and continuing with its ambitious series "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." What's more, "Star Trek: Voyager" was the series that launched the Upn, a Paramount-owned TV network that was, at the time, full of promise.

"Voyager," however, proved to be slightly less popular than its 1990 counterparts. It struggled to tell interesting stories, and ratings were always just north of bad.

In "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Scorpion, Part I" (May 21, 1997) the USS Voyager knows they are approaching an area of the galaxy that is just lousy with the Borg. The ship is about to fly straight through Borg territory and will constantly be at risk of assimilation. The immediate future looks terrifying. And just as the ship passes into Borg space, giant Borg cubes fly directly toward them. Surprisingly, though, the cubes all fly straight past the Voyager. It seems the Borg were fleeing something even more terrifying behind them. The Voyager then sees a mysterious spacecraft, seemingly made of biological material, in pursuit. This bioship is easily able to attack and destroy 15 Borg vessels.

The bioship belongs to a species that the Borg refer to as Species 8472 in their database. Species 8472 are powerful, psychic creatures that hail from a parallel dimension completely filled with fluid.

The Wild Plan That Could Bring Back A Popular Dead Star Trek Character
Image
The third season of "Star Trek: Picard" introduced one of the best new "Star Trek" characters in many years. Captain Liam Shaw, played by Todd Stashwick, was the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Titan-a, a massively retrofitted version of the ship once commanded by Captain Riker (Jonathan Frakes). Shaw was brusque, protective, and had no patience for propriety. When Riker and Picard (Patrick Stewart) -- deeply respected throughout Starfleet -- ask to borrow the Titan for a secret, personal mission, Shaw immediately refused. No, you cannot use my ship. He then assigns them uncomfortable bunk beds to sleep in.

Shaw is a bit of an a-hole, but he's not wrong. He is under no obligation to flout the rules for Riker and Picard, and gets furious with them when their personal mission attracts attackers and bounty hunters. He didn't ask for that. Shaw also had a combative relationship with his first officer,...

Scott Bakula: ‘Getting to Know’ These 3 Star Trek Legends Made My ‘Enterprise’ Tenure Worth It
Image
Scott Bakula is mostly silent about his Star Trek experience, but he mentioned that getting to know stalwarts like William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, and Kate Mulgrew made the experience worth it. Bakula played Captain Jonathan Archer in the prequel series Enterprise, which was prematurely canceled after four seasons, putting a hiatus on the franchise.

Bakula has largely remained absent from the fandom of the series, not making it to conventions and moving on from the franchise. However, he was thankful about meeting Mulgrew, Shatner, and Stewart and getting close to them (via The Guardian). He also had nice things to say about the whole experience.

It was a blast. It was a great privilege. The icing on the cake is to get to know [William] Shatner and Patrick [Stewart] and Kate [Mulgrew] and everybody. They’re all really fun and different people. There’s a burden in that sci-fi fans have a very high standard.

'Star Trek: Enterprise' Spin-Off Bringing Back Scott Bakula's President Archer in the Works
Image
In recent years, noted Star Trek captains Patrick Stewart and Kate Mulgrew have returned to the franchise, and now another Starfleet legend wants to make a comeback. Scott Bakula, who starred on Star Trek: Enterprise as Captain Jonathan Archer for four seasons, is interested in returning for a new show that would see Archer steering not the Enterprise, but the entire Federation. The show hasn't been greenlit yet, but producer Michael Sussman has faith (of the heart) that the show could still happen.

In a new interview in advance of his and Bakula's appearances at the Stlv Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, Sussman, a veteran of Enterprise, reveals that Star Trek: Picard, which returned Stewart to his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, inspired Sussman to joke with Bakula that they needed to make "Star Trek: Archer." However, the joke actually inspired the two to explore a show that...

Star Trek: Tng’s Weirdest Episode Had a Ghost Doing the Strangest Thing to Beverly Crusher
Image
While Star Trek: Tng is known for its profound explorations about humanity, it also had some extremely weird episodes. The season seven episode Sub Rosa is one such strange episode that puts Dr. Beverly Crusher in a weird spot. It sees her fall in love with what is initially revealed to be a ghost after her grandmother’s funeral.

The episode is widely regarded as one of the worst of Tng. Despite an interesting premise, the execution was weird and unintentionally hilarious. While the cast and crew have since then acknowledged the absurdity of the episode, it remains one of the campiest episodes of Star Trek, and the show had quite a lot of them.

Star Trek: Tng’s Sub Rosa Was a Homage to Gothic Romances Gates McFadden in Star Trek: Tng | Credits: Paramount

The season 7 episode Sub Rosa sees Dr. Beverly Crusher go to her grandmother’s funeral on Caldos IV.

Brian Tyree Henry Was Working Out His Relationship With His Real Father Through His ‘Dope Thief’ Character
Image
Brian Tyree Henry is three for three when it comes to Emmy nominations in the major acting categories, having nabbed his first for best guest actor in 2017 for his appearance as the long-lost cousin of Ron Cephas Jones’ William on the NBC drama This Is Us; his second a year later for his supporting actor role as Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles in the FX comedy Atlanta; and now a lead actor nod for his portrayal of Ray Driscoll in Apple TV+’s limited series Dope Thief.

“This is a sexy-ass category,” says Henry of being nominated alongside Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Jake Gyllenhaal (Presumed Innocent), Cooper Koch (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story) and Stephen Graham (Adolescence), to whom he expects to take a graceful L.

“I hit up Stephen, because I love Stephen Graham — I truly, truly love him,” adds Henry, “and I keep telling him, ‘It’s...

Star Trek legends starred in these forgotten sci-fi audio dramas
Image
Fans love hearing Star Trek actors in new roles, yet it may be ignored how several Trek stars brought some classic sci-fi tales to life in audio dramas!

Star Trek actors are known for their variety of roles outside the franchise, which includes voice work in animation. Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis reunited for the beloved Gargoyles animated series, and other actors excel, taking on a wide array of voiceover roles.

However, one special audio project that brought together several notable Trek actors has fallen to the wayside of fans. It was short-lived when there was so much potential left, but what we got were some great adaptations of some classic sci-fi works, including Alien Voices.

It’s a project made as a love letter to both sci-fi and old radio shows, and it provided wonderful entertainment for the fans. It’s worth tracking down to see these Trek actors...

I Was Today Years Old When I Discovered Star Trek Won America the Space Race, Not Star Wars
Image
Star Trek’s premiere predated the moon landing by a few years, but the show had an immense impact on NASA’s space programs, especially the Apollo 11 missions. Created by Gene Roddenberry, the sci-fi show saw a federal space exploration program called Starfleet traveling across the galaxy to contact strange new worlds and boldly go where no one ever went before.

The moon landing was done in 1969, by which time the series had already been canceled after a three-year run. However, the mission was plagued by many incidents in the run-up to the launch, and there were many critics who felt investment in space exploration was a waste of money while people in the country suffered (via Medium).

The space race was incredibly important for the Cold War, as the technological advancements would position each nation as a superpower. Star Trek’s hopeful vision of a future where space exploration...

Every Time Star Trek Broke Its Own Prime Directive — and Got Away With It
Image
In the Star Trek universe, the Starfleet organization is guided by many rules, the most important one of which is the Prime Directive. Also known as the ‘General Order 1’ or ‘Non-Interference Directive’, the rule states that Starfleet members are not to influence or change the natural cultural and technological advancement of an alien civilization.

The directive has its roots in anti-colonialism, with creator Gene Roddenberry and producer Gene L. Coon intending it to reflect the ongoing Vietnam War at the time. The Prime Directive indicates that Starfleet should not interfere with a civilization that is yet to achieve a level of technological advancement, particularly warp drive and subspace communication.

However, the captains of Star Trek have worked around it many times and have gotten away with it. According to a Reddit user, the directive had been broken 33 times across shows. Here are ten instances where the captains got away with it.

How Star Trek’s Best Episode Led to a Legendary Gene Roddenberry-Harlan Ellison Feud
Image
Gene Roddenberry and writer Harlan Ellison were reportedly in a lifelong feud after having creative differences over one of Star Trek’s best episodes, ‘The City on the Edge of Forever.’ Written by Ellison and later revised by Roddenberry, the episode sees Dr. McCoy altering the course of human history by traveling back in time and saving one person from death, and Captain Kirk and Spock following him to reverse the changes.

Ellison reportedly wrote a script that was extremely expensive to shoot, and the story was subject to multiple rewrites, with several writers and story editors taking a stab at it before Roddenberry himself wrote the final draft. The duo were friends before the whole ordeal, and Ellison was reportedly one of the first writers to be part of Star Trek. However, the episode led to a lifelong feud between them.

Harlan Ellison’s Initial Script for Star Trek...

25 Years Later, Kate Mulgrew’s Ugliest Feud With Voyager Co-Star Keeps Haunting Star Trek
Image
Kate Mulgrew’s historic time as the captain in Star Trek: Voyager has but one blot, and that is her feud with co-star Jeri Ryan, who played Seven of Nine in the show. Mulgrew played Captain Kathryn Janeway, the captain of the USS Voyager and the first female captain to lead a Star Trek show. The series received great reviews, and Mulgrew’s image as a female Starfleet captain was highly influential.

However, with the introduction of Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine, the focus went from the captain to the attractive new cast member, who was designed to appeal to a younger, male demographic. According to many sources, Mulgrew and Ryan had a terrible feud on set, with the latter calling it a difficult experience (via Huffington Post).

It was not a super-easy four years for me, I will say that. It does not stick out as a wonderful,...

Star Trek’s Jeri Ryan: My Voyager Co-Star ‘Accidentally Grabbed My Br**st… Ran off in Shame to His Trailer’
Image
Jeri Ryan, who played Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager, mentioned that one of her co-stars from the show accidentally grabbed her br*asts while filming and was roasted by the cast right after. Ryan was cast as the Borg drone Seven of Nine in the fourth season of Voyager, but quickly became a star for her looks and the storylines she got.

In an appearance promoting the feature-length episode ‘Dark Frontier’, Ryan recounted to Conan O’Brien an incident from the sets of the show with actor Garrett Wang, who played Harry Kim. Ryan mentioned that the two actors were rehearsing a scene where they were walking down a corridor together (via Conan O’Brien).

They’d cut the rehearsal, and he was turning around to walk back to the beginning, and I was still walking. So, he accidentally grabbed my br*ast…But anyway, so he was kind...

The 15 Best Star Trek Parodies And Spoofs Of All Time
Image
When "Star Trek" first hit the airwaves in 1966, no one could predict just how popular the budding franchise would become. It would boldly go where few TV shows have gone before, leading to spinoffs, movies, and all sorts of collectible paraphernalia. It's pretty impressive, especially since the original "Star Trek" series was cancelled after just three seasons due to low ratings. However, it tapped into something in the zeitgeist and couldn't stay down for long, making it a prime target for a litany of parodies.

Between William Shatner's hammy acting style for Captain Kirk and so many fun, unique alien species, there's plenty for jokesters to poke fun at. And of course, the best spoofs are those where it's clear the creators have a deep respect for all "Star Trek" has done. Even if you wouldn't consider yourself a hardcore Trekkie, you'll probably find something to enjoy in these movies,...

Star Trek's Original Janeway Actress Lasted Less Than Two Days On The Show
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

"Star Trek: Voyager" was a big deal for Paramount back in 1995. It was the first new "Star Trek" show to launch after the conclusion of the powerhouse "Star Trek: The Next Generation" in 1994, leaving it and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" — the "new kids" on the block — to fend for themselves. What's more, the premiere of "Voyager" also launched Paramount's new TV network, Upn, a massively ambitious media venture that, it was hoped, would provide legitimate competition for the other major TV players of the era. Upn ended up crashing and burning after a decade, but "Voyager" eventually found a respectably sized audience. This was, however, after several years of struggling, and several instances of recasting.

Most notably, "Star Trek: Voyager" had trouble finding a captain. The show's central character was to be named Captain Elizabeth Janeway, and she was...

Star Trek’s Kate Mulgrew on Hillary Clinton Inviting Her to the White House:”She could think of no one better than I”
Image
Star Trek: Voyager’s Kate Mulgrew said that she initially felt a bit out of place when she was invited by Hillary Clinton to talk about women in Stem fields. Mulgrew played Captain Kathryn Janeway in the show, creating history as the first female captain to lead a Star Trek series, and inspired countless women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Mulgrew recounted an incident while on a panel discussion with her Voyager co-star Robert Picardo, where she was invited to the White House by Hillary Clinton, who was the First Lady at the time. She mentioned that she was asked to give a speech to the best of women researchers who attended the event and were looking at her for guidance (via The Planetary Society).

She’d called a group an international group of young scientists whom she thought were particularly promising, and she could think...
