Bill Skarsgård has met his match in the trailer for Locked. The actor, who tends to embody movie monsters, is up against a sadistic Anthony Hopkins in the thriller, which hits theaters on March 21.

In the clip, Skarsgård plays Eddie, a thief on the hunt for cars. When he finds one unlocked and attempts to take it, the phone rings, and Hopkins’ character, William, reveals he plans to punish Eddie for his crimes. “I want you to experience the consequences of your actions,” William says, locking Eddie inside the vehicle and tasing him.

Move over, John Kramer — there's a new twisted vigilante in town! And this ain't just any old bloodthirsty kook either: it's Hannibal Lecter himself, Sir Anthony Hopkins. Yes, in David Yarovesky's upcoming single location thriller Locked, Hopkins plays William, a Jigsaw-style cool, calm, and collected killer who traps unsuspecting lout Eddie (Bill Skarsgård) in his luxury SUV when the down-on-his-luck thief tries to steal his car. Thus ensues a battle of wits as William employs all sorts of cruel, car-based torture to punish Eddie while his hostage fights for survival. During his lifetime, David Lynch was nominated twice for the Writers Guild of America Awards but never won. Weeks before his death, however, he was able to accept a recognition that will be officially bestowed in February.

During its 2025 awards ceremony, the Writers Guild of America West will posthumously present the Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet writer-director with a lifetime achievement prize, the Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement, the union stated Wednesday. The award recognizes union members who have “advanced the literature of motion pictures and made outstanding contributions to the profession of the screenwriter,” with past recipients including Charlie Kaufman, Nancy Meyers and Budd Schulberg.

While the presentation will happen at the Feb. 15 ceremony, with frequent Lynch collaborator Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) bestowing the honor, Lynch was able to receive the prize in late 2024 before his death on Jan. 16, according to the union.

The Valentine’s Day-set slasher movie Heart Eyes is set to reach theatres on February 7th – but that’s not the only horror movie that Cinemark theatres will be celebrating the holiday with. Everyone loves a good villain. Without scenery-chewing, dastardly antagonists for our heroes to fight, things just aren't much fun. Sometimes villains become cultural icons in their own right, like Michael Meyers from the "Halloween" movies or even Jeremy Irons as Scar in "The Lion King." Of course, one of the greatest villains of them all is Hannibal Lecter. Created by author Thomas Harris, "Hannibal the Cannibal" was the baddie in the novels "Red Dragon" in 1981, "The Silence of the Lambs" in 1988, "Hannibal" in 1999, and "Hannibal Rising" in 2006, and his well-mannered eccentricity and fierce bloodlust makes him as alluring as he is terrifying. These books have since been adapted into several Hannibal Lecter movies and an NBC television series, with four different actors having portrayed the aristocratic Lithuanian serial killer, each with their own unique spin.

Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal, as a character, always leaves the viewers wanting more. Regardless of how much information they find out about him, they are always consumed with questions, as though they may never truly understood him. As though a personification of the dark, no matter how well one learns to navigate the darkness, it is impossible to fully see in it.

The show is somewhat similar, leaving its audience with a mountain of questions, be it about specific character motivations, or plot points as a whole. Due to this, Fannibals have been demanding that the series get another season after it was canceled after a three-season run.

While the demand for another season is very loud, there is also a different part of the fandom that does not want more of the story, and their reasoning is quite interesting.

Sebastian Stan is no stranger to stepping into complex roles, but his latest project might end up giving him the recognition he deserves. Or, it might bring a long-overdue recognition to one of Hollywood’s most legendary actors, Anthony Hopkins. Tied together thanks to their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Stan recently earned a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Donald Trump in the film, The Apprentice.

Chris Pratt has revealed his house has survived the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.

Pratt, reporting via a video from his car as he returned to his fire-ravaged Pacific Palisades neighborhood, said his son’s school burned down, as had many of his friends’ own homes. “I haven’t been back since the Palisades fires. It’s truly devastating, as you know, and yeah, the silver lining is my house was saved. But at the same time, so many people’s houses were burned around us, and the community is gone,” he added.

It’s been a year or so since the currently very prolific Guy Ritchie was revealed to be making a film called Wife & Dog. On top of the TV series of The Gentlemen, Ritchie has six films shot since 2020, from 2021’s Wrath Of Man through to this year’s Fountain Of Youth. He also has In The Grey currently in post-production as well, and has directed episodes of the upcoming TV show The Associate. Oh, and he’s making a young Sherlock Holmes show as well.

Cosmo Jarvis, star of FX’s smash hit period series “Shōgun,” has landed a role in Guy Ritchie’s next film, “Wife & Dog.”

The Brit joins a heady lineup of names already confirmed for the feature, first announced by Variety last year and set to see Ritchie return to the colourful, backstabbing world of the British upper classes (doubling down on a subject he recently explored in “The Gentleman” film and TV series). Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike and Anthony Hopkins have been announced as leading the feature and, while plot details remain under wraps, Jarvis is understood to be to playing Hopkins’ son and Pike’s sister.

Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was celebrated at the fifth edition of Saudi Arabia’s Joy Awards in Riyadh over the weekend, with Anthony Hopkins presenting him with a Lifetime Achievement Award on stage.

On Sunday, McConaughey posted a series of photos on Instagram from the 2025 Joy Awards in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In his post, he officially nominated Anthony Hopkins for the title of People’s Sexiest Man Alive.

There’s good news at the MLK weekend box office for films like Sony’s new buddy comedy “One of Them Days” as well as more milestones for Christmas holdovers “Mufasa” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” but this holiday period is proving to be a weak one for theaters.

Lynch wasn’t just a filmmaker but an artist and a dreamer—and sometimes just a man reporting the local weather from his office. One of Hollywood’s worst weeks in years just got worse. David Lynch, the four-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, Wild at Heart, The Elephant Man and others who also created the ABC drama series Twin Peaks, died Wednesday. He was 78.

His family posted the news on social media but did not provide a date of death.

Lynch had been diagnosed with emphysema. Sources told Deadline that he was forced to relocate from his house due to the Sunset Fire and then took a turn for the worse. In an interview with Sight & Sound magazine last year, Lynch revealed that due to Covid fears and his emphysema diagnosis, he no longer could leave the house, which meant if he directed again, it would be remotely.

Lesli Linka Glatter, the top TV director-producer and president of the Directors Guild of America, has revealed she lost her Pacific Palisades home in this week’s wildfires that have been burning across Los Angeles.

“Sadly my house is gone, as is so much of the Palisades … this is heartbreaking for many,” Glatter wrote on Instagram. “My heart goes out to all those who have lost so much and to those in danger.”

She added that she was safe at her “son’s house in the valley” and thanked those who reached out to her amid the disaster.

The ongoing Los Angeles wildfires have prompted the Mammoth Film Festival to postpone its 2025 event originally scheduled for Feb. 20 to 24 in Mammoth Lakes, California.

“The devastating and unforeseen wildfire tragedies in the state have not only affected the region’s environment and infrastructure but have also impacted travel and attendance capabilities for potential festivalgoers,” the festival, which launched in 2018, said in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

The Mammoth fest in California’s Sierra Madre Mountains is used to dealing with snowstorms and high winds, but the historic destruction caused by wildfires in Los Angeles County has only added to the logistical challenges facing the event.
