5 bad movies worth a watch
Most bad movies are hardly worth a look. However here are five that in my opinion contain qualities what make them eminently watchable.

- DirectorSam WoodStarsAnn SheridanRobert CummingsRonald ReaganThe dark side and hypocrisy of provincial American life is seen through the eyes of five children as they grow to adulthood at the turn of the century.Arguably the finest bad film of them all. Hollywood period melodrama at its awful best. Nasty goings-on behind closed curtains concealing terminal illness, insanity and sadistic surgery, a future President of the United States a victim of the latter waking up screaming "Where's the rest of me?" All done with such impeccable style.
- DirectorFederico FelliniStarsBritta BarnesPeter Gonzales FalconFiona FlorenceA fluid, unconnected and sometimes chaotic procession of scenes detailing the various people and events of life in Italy's capital, most of it based on director Federico Fellini's life.Even for Fellini one hell of a mess! A turgid journey that just does not know where it is going and does not really add up to anything much. On the way however there is the odd sudden brilliant passage such as the motorway chaos and the ecclesiastic fashion show that somehow makes the experience worthwhile.
- DirectorJohn WellsStarsMeryl StreepDermot MulroneyJulia RobertsA look at the lives of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose paths have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Oklahoma house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them.A study in disfunctional family angst. The pleasure here is watching characters competing to out-scream each other, the top prize going to Meryl Streep who is always worth a watch.
- DirectorMark HermanStarsBrenda BlethynJane HorrocksMichael CaineA shy reclusive lady is convinced by an invisible entity to sing. Subsequently, she finds herself noticed by a sleazy talent agent and her talent being showcased on-stage. She also meets a kind but nervous man who becomes her best friend.A rip-roaring study of bad taste with Brenda Blethyn going over the top as a mouthy, depraved mum and much else to make one cringe pleasurably.
- DirectorLone ScherfigStarsSam ClaflinMax IronsDouglas BoothTwo first-year students at Oxford University join the infamous Riot Club, where reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening. The fascination here is in seeing just how much worse the behaviour of a thoroughly nasty group of Oxford undergraduates can get. A crescendo of violence in this downright awful film is constructed with some degree of skill.
