Once Upon a Time

Jonah Blake arrives at Great Slaughter, to make his directorial debut, running the local panto, however, the production seems in doubt, when the Chairman is killed. Mrs Clam and Miss Thimble are shocked when the cat brings home a human eyeball.

I was hoping for something on par with Star of The Orient, but that's a high bar, an exceptional episode, Once upon a time isn't quite as good, but still offers the viewer a pretty good, seasonal treat.

The storyline itself is quite satisfying, and it's a well imagine, Christmas storyline, not just a run of the mill episode, with added tinsel. A good set of characters, including the excellent Wilf.

Very nicely produced, it looked terrific, with delightful wintery scenes. I also loved the linking narration, it added another layer of mystery. I can't say I'm a lover of the whole panto thing, it's overdone in Christmas specials.

The Terry the turkey storyline was definitely fun, and added a little humour.

I'm looking forward to the new series, and the return of Father Brown.
