Long time supporting characters Harlan, Bonnie and Turner do not appear in the film. Randi Oakes (Bonnie) retired from acting to raise her family shortly after CHiPs ended, and Michael Dorn (Turner) was busy with Star Trek projects at the time. Thom Riley, who replaced Larry Wilcox during the show's final season does not appear as Bobby Nelson, though Bruce Penhall reprises his role as Bruce Nelson.

Ponch was depicted as having left the CHP while Jon stayed with it. During CHiPs final season, it was Jon who left the CHP, while Ponch remained a member. However, it's possible Jon could have left on a sabbatical at that time, then returned in the intervening years with Ponch having left at some point afterward.

As fake as the TV show

This movie wasn't any better than the TV show. The whole movie seemed fake. They couldn't even come up with a fresh idea for the movie. If they had, maybe it would have been better. But I really doubt it. It would take a lot to improve this movie.
