- The film was released in 1974, but makes reference to real events that took place in the USA that were headlines in that year. Those events, such as the Watergate scandal, President Ford's pardon of Nixon, and the killing of university students by the US National Guard and various states police forces during protests to end the participation of USA in the Vietnam war, help raise the quality of the film's plot and its central message of love and peace.
- A deodorant company with a product called "Smell No Mo" pits two rival ad agencies in a race to come up with a campaign for a new-fangled sanitary napkin called Vorcan. The advertising satire follows the New York firm of Cranston & Co. as they fight rival Hoffman & Partners. Cranston fires his creative director which puts a young copywriter with a literature degree on the front line, even though he doesn't want to be. The contest comes down to a schmaltzy campaign by Hoffman with music by Air Supply that uses the tagline "Vorcan: your own personal air supply." or a more down to earth campaign from Cranston of "The pad ain't bad!"
- Having survived a kidnapping attempt in an international bride slave trade scheme, restaurateur Samantha McCarthy and her husband David ignore FBI warnings and visit Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to support their daughter Ellie in a university volleyball tournament, and enjoy a mini-holiday. Before they can enjoy the sites, the McCarthys are intercepted by the swarthy César Rodriguez and son Miguel who kidnap Samantha, David and Ellie in attempt to extort the missing $200,000 bridal delivery payment they accuse Samantha of funneling into her new Texas restaurant. Meanwhile, fugitive Ian LeBlanc, younger brother of the boat captain who previously abducted her, surfaces, dead-set on tracking down Ellie.
- After a Senator suddenly dies after completing (and sealing) an investigation into the nuclear power industry, the remaining Senator and the state Governor must decide on a person who will play along with their shady deals and not cause any problems. They decide on Billy Jack, currently sitting in prison after being sent to jail at the end of his previous film, as they don't expect him to be capable of much, and they think he will attract young voters to the party. Billy is pardoned, released, and nominated, after which he begins his duties. He soon notices that things aren't right, and starts trying to find out just what is going on.
- The story of a small-town football star, Chris Wotan, who defies society, morals and his God and gets into so much trouble that he is expelled from school. Told in flashbacks, usually in confession to the priest, Chris sets the tone early in the opening scene where he screams oaths before the altar and smashes a religious statue in a blind rage. Whether this is before or after a 14-year-old sexpot, Joan Meyers, corners him in the church choir-loft or when the parents of a pleasure-seeking rich girl, Tury by name, catch him in bed with Tury. And his father is the town sot and has to be bailed out of jail about once a week.
- A ragtag group of store clerks get stuck working until midnight on Christmas Eve at Xmas-O-Rama, a shabby Christmas shop in a blue-collar New Jersey town. The store is run by Mike Malcolm, a shady, degenerate gambler whose debts suddenly catch up with him in the form of two thugs who have come to collect what they are owed. Mike flees to the nearest card game to try and win enough money to keep his "creditors" from breaking his legs or worse. Alone in the store on this busy night of quirky last minute shoppers, the diverse, mostly non-Christian employees struggle with their "outsider" relationship to Christmas. While waiting for Mike's return, and more importantly their paychecks, the eccentric group reveal their individual religious pride, misunderstanding, jealousy and secret love for the spirit of ever-present Christmas.
