Three women, Canaan, a Middle Eastern assassin, Alphard, a leader of a terrorist group and Canaan's nemesis, and Maria, a victim of a horrific terrorist attack, cross paths at an anti-terrorism summit in Shanghai.

The story centers on two female characters: Ellis and Nadi. In the premise, Ellis is a murder suspect and finds herself on the run from an underground society called "Hunters." At some point, she meets a bounty hunter Nadi who is initially after the bounty on her head but eventually decides to help her pursue the truth about her past. Although by doing so, Nadi calls the Hunters' wrath upon herself, as well, she accompanies Ellis to the Hometown, where she was supposedly born.

In the land of Foreland a coup d'état has occurred and the princess, after witnessing the death of the King, is on the run. She meets with battle-hungry bounty hunter Falis, and with a twist of fate they both switch souls, making Alita the maid of the now princess Falis. Named for her bravery in confronting the enemy as 'Murder Princess', Falis must continue to be the princess as well as confronting any new opponent that comes to her way.

Years into the future, colonies have been established on Mars. Resources on the dying red planet are thin, and the domed cities have resorted to a gladiator contest to determine which of them receive the most rations. Layla Ashley is the representative fighter for Serena City, Mars. She and Speedy, a doll breeder, run across Nei, a mechanical doll with curious characteristics. Together they wander and fight their way across the planet, to take revenge against a man from Layla's past...

The characters from previous .hack//G.U. Games and .hack//Roots receive an email from Ovan. He is requesting them to go to Hidden Forbidden Festival where is set up a mysterious summer festival. There they find an AIDA Chim Chim who wishes to peacefully co-exist with the other players of The World. It then transforms into the word "Returner", so they assume it to mean that Ovan will return to The World.

Helba has prepared a special hot springs for some much needed rest and relaxation. Tsukasa, Mimiru, BlackRose, Kite and other friends from The World decide they are due for some soaking in the hot springs themselves. There is a catch, however: not only will Helba not reveal its exact location, but she insists that role-playing is forbidden. So who will find it first? And who keeps killing the other characters? Note: This is a parody of the .hack series with appearance of the characters from .hack//SIGN, .hack//Udeden and the games. It is also referred to as "episode 29" of .hack//SIGN. This OVA was originally a giveaway in Japan for those who bought all four .hack-games and will probably be included in the US-release of .hack//Quarantine.

Bear joins Mimiru for an event held in the Dungeon of Nankoflak, a newly reopened dungeon known for giving rise to many a legend in the past. But Mimiru isn't there for the experience points or the treasure, but rather memories of one of her first experiences in The World, and the players she met there.

In the first volume of the .hack//Liminality series, a Japanese school girl Mai Minase and her friend Tomonari Kasumi became unconscious from playing an online computer game and was rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, Mai Minase regained consciousness, but Tomonari remains in a comatose state. Later after the incident, Mai is one day on her way to school until she ran into a man named Junichiro Tokuoka who claims to know what caused her friend Tomonari to be in a coma. At that time, Mai doesn't know or believes him. Later, Mai had no choice but to believe Tokuoka and tries to find out how the popular online game, "The World" did this to Tomonari. Can Mai and Tokuoka find out clues about "The World" and wake Tomonari Kasumi up out of his coma?

In the second volume of the .hack//Liminality series, Yuki Aihara was a school girl who one day went to a school theater and while watching a movie, the words "The World" suddenly appeared on the big screen and suddenly, the entire town of Yokohama was blacked out due to power shutting off. People are desperately trying to escape and Yuki tries to get out as well. Suddenly, a mysterious woman who claims that she happens to work at the school theater helps Yuki find the way out of the theater. Can Yuki escape from the black out crisis and join up with Junichiro Tokuoka to get the answers about "The World"?

In the third volume of the .hack//Liminality series, Junichiro Tokuoka travels to Tokyo, Japan to talk with a girl named Kyoko Tohno about the mysteries of "The World", an online computer game that put some people in a comatose state. At the same time, Kyoko has received a strange cell phone e-mail from Helba. They continue to discuss and are trying to get clues about everything related to "The World". They later meet a mysterious man named Sato Ichiro and speak with him to get answers. Will Tokuoka and the three girls Mai, Yuki, and Kyoko that he cooperates with be able to find the mysteries and clues of "The World" and save the comatose victims?

In the last volume of the .hack//Liminality series, Junichiro Tokuoka, Mai Minase, Yuki Aihara, Kyoko Tohno, and Sato Ichiro breaks into the computer facility and use the computer with the equipments for the online game "The World" to try and revive Tomonari Kasumi. While they do this, they also must watch for the guards who are coming to stop them. Tokuoka and Mai begins the process and Kyoko, Yuki and Sato Ichiro buys time to distract the guards. Can Tokuoka, the three girls and Sato Ichiro be able to complete their mission before time runs out for Tomonari Kasumi? Only one way to find out.

A school classmate invites Margaret to a evening party but her maidservant Elenore finds some individuals who should not be on the guest list actually are.

Margaret decides she wants to have a complete copy of a picture book.

Eric and Madlax hear a rumor that someone in a G-S village can read Elies's script.

Vanessa and Madlax escape but Enfant frames them for killing a royal family member, causing them them to hide in the combat zone.

Vanessa realizes someone may be targeting her and hires Madlax as a bodyguard.

Vanessa who was saved by the last second by Madlax, intends to go public wit her data she found. and Madlax fails to have it her way.

Will Tsukasa, Subaru and Mimiru manage to find each other, despite the traps laid by the entity in this unknown realm? And will they at last be able to get back to the real world?

Margaret makes the decision to separate Laetitia, Madlax and herself.

Margaret Burton goes normal like usual until her former tutor Vanessa Rene makes a lost memory come back.

The story opens up with Madlax, a very deadly and sexy female gun-for-hire parachuting from a helicopter deep into a Latin American jungle, where she is to recover a floppy disk from a unskilled teenage rebel fighter name Peter Anyan. Later when the enemy army closes in on Peter, Madlax puts on a long flowing evening gown, and using her supreme, almost supernatural agility, and shooting skills, ambushes the army to try and save him.
