Malai Thong was born captive-born 1980-1989? at Karen unspecified hilltribe family.

Malai Tongs name means "garland of gold."

Malai was born at Ta-Song-Yang district in a Karen tribal village along the Thailand / Burma border. While working with illegal logging in Tak province in 2003, Malai Tong fell victim to a landmine.
